Kara from Justice League Action looked like a monster to me when I first saw her, bigger eyes than animes. Then I've watched the whole show... and at the end I was in love with her!

I always appreciated how the Justice League Unlimited series gave her character arc a conclusion. She wasn't just Superman's cousin, she was her own character, growing up to become a hero (with one CRAZY ass clone as her rival).

“I’m very proud. But don’t tell her.” “That’s a job for Superman.” Oof

soooo basically we got to 2013 and then started going backwards.

The idea of rude Supergirl started around 2004/2005, after her return in the comics, she was a moody teenager at best and a bitch at worst for a while.

Jonathan Godoy Lauren Faust made that short though...? It's an idea that's been carried into DC Superhero Girls 2019 however. If youre wondering about her actual inspiration for the personality, you should look towards Power Girl.

There's nothing wrong with new interpretations, more importantly that version of Supergirl comes from her best run in the comics, the 2005 modern era. She had some serious anger issues around that time. Unfortunately the New 52 distilled that into being her only character trait but it was well established during the 2005 run.

@@Catherine-ne6rr Eh... No, I don't see it. The Winx Club's art style looked very cheap and the anatomy of the girls looked terrible (looked like bootleg manga lol). The Justice League Action Shorts look a bit more refined and polished in comparison.

1998 & 2004 supergirl are my favorites.

They are the same version of Supergirl

The STAS/JLU version, Batman/Superman Apocalypse and Superman Unbound are my favorite incarnations of Supergirl

It's gotten progressively worse and lazier, with tiny instances of good or passable revitalization once in a while. Sad.

It's REALLY bad when you look at Supergirl's 1960s comics and she's better written then than nearly all of these cartoons or live action portrayals. Her likability is off the charts in some of those comics, and she's mentally 3x stronger than some of these newer cartoons.

nah, hardly at all, The Justice League Action shorts for Supergirl was fantastic and she was also brilliantly well done in Justice League Unlimited. Something you're not getting here.

That was from a series of shorts back when Cartoon Network had a decent selection of DC shows. There were a couple different ones, but they all were drawn very cartoonishly and the plots were all satirical takes on superheroing. In short, they were very deliberately trying to make everything about the shorts as ridiculous as possible.

DCAU and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse are the best

Aww, no live action versions? I liked her S:TAS costume best. Gave her her own identity, as fitting someone who's a character in her own right, instead of just being Superman's costume with a skirt.

Exactly. Also, she actually HAD her own character back then. I have been watching some older series (pl.?), and while some do get better with time, most of them get worse. (Or stay more or less the same.)

Same, it bothers me that many fans say that that particular costume looks dated, I get the white football jersey style crop top with the Superman shield on it does look a little dated but it adds to the charm of the costume, Andy sporty look of, and the sporty look of that costume fits Supergirl's personality and doesn't look generic like the blue shirt with red skirt
