When I was younger, I played new super Mario bro’s wii all the time. I would rack up a ton of lives, then intentionally die 8 times, then hit the super guide block and immediately press plus just so I could play as luigi.

While the P-Wing in SMB3 and P-Acorn in NSMBU help in skipping levels, I more-or-less see them as rewards for highly skilled play since the former is rewarded for beating Worlds and getting the elusive White Toad Houses while the P-Acorn requires you to essentially speedrun previous Levels to earn them, though you can rarely find them in normal levels and in the overworld where Super Acorns normally reside. Also, did you know the Invincibility Leaf in NSMB2 gives you a MUCH faster P-Meter and the ability to run across water like Mini Mario? I know this since I still can't beat the "IMPOSSIBLE!" Pack without it! With that said, I'm not too big on Assist Items or Super Guides for me personally since I find them rather demeaning, though I also understand that it can be quite helpful for casual people. But completing Levels for the players is kinda overkill for me.

The P-Wing in SMB3 and P-Acorn are arguably not “assist power-ups” as they are usually given as the result of the player’s skill rather than a lack of skill.

Is kinda both P wing was very hard to get ( not counting peach giving it to you after every world) so is more like a reward Also p acorn as catching nabbit Is beating a level but with extra challenge

I never got that p wing in 3d land and that cosmic guide very Good and helpful

I love that Mario Wii implies Luigi is more compatent than mario

The Prankster Comet on Luigi's Purple Coins I can't even do it in the first Super Mario Galaxy. The sequel's version shown here is slightly harder.

In super Mario 3D world you can get this invincibility leaf if you lose 3 times but remember: you can lose if you fall but there will again this leaf

Assist always is helpful!
