Dr. John Hawks is a paleoanthropologist and professor of anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They discuss: the evolution of human behavior, diet, anatomy, and culture; Neanderthals, Denisovans, Homo erectus, and other species; the latest discoveries related to Homo naledi, which was the subject of the Netflix documentary, "Cave of Bones."

    Not a scientist here but...I think I understand a lot more than I did 2 hours ago. Thank you, Dr. Hawks. I appreciate your ability to explain this very complex topic in ways non-scientists can understand and learn from.

    @35:30 For example, look at the shape of the head of Nikolay Valuev the Russian boxer, it looks pretty Neanderthal/Denisovan to me

    Have genomics buddy doing most advanced work, with many patents. He says idea of "species" along with other phenotype/non-genomic-based ideas - is inaccurate and an obstacle to new knowledge. 19th century ideas. We know alot more about the genome now.

    Lee Berger did some excellent work. Unfortunately he let fame get to his head and he stopped doing real science and has now discredited himself. It’s sad to see.
