That 1950's "George Geef" Goofy mask is actually quite impressive and a lot more advanced looking than the other characters at the time. Also, Goofy Darth Vader? Why? It should totally be Donald Duck Vader and Obi Wan Goofnobi. Makes a lot more sense to me, anyway.

Nicely done, Dan! BTW, my uncle used to work in Disney World as a character performer back in 1990. And one of the characters he got to be was... you guessed it, Goofy.

Amazing.

Goofy is one of the few characters who was able to skip over that scary costume phase. He has looked like Goofy from the very beginning.

Clock Cleaners is probably my favorite of the older shorts featuring Goofy

Dan I recently started a 9-5 job and I watch your videos on my lunch break because they make me so happy!

I’ve rarely ever stayed on an on site hotel/resort when visiting the parks, but a water skiing goofy sounds absolutely amazing and I’m sure guests who were able to see it absolutely loved it.

11:40 Well, I didn't think I'd see costumed Minnie shoot fire from her gloves and then an explosion happen off screen in a video about Goofy costumes tonight...but it happened and my night is better for it. Thank you, Disney Dan!

Out of the main Disney stable of characters, Goofy is definitely my fave.

Video hasn’t even started yet and I know I’m going to sob through it. I’ve always equated goofy with my grandfather. I don’t know if it’s because he was not happy about us taking him on the barnstormer, or if it was the soft warbled cadence he spoke to me with. I had to say see you later (since there are no goodbyes, only see you laters) to him in March of 2020. Seeing goofy brings a tear to my eye but they aren’t all sad. Thanks Dan, cheers to you.

Goofy has always been one of my faves, and it’s always so interesting to see how the costumes have evolved over the decades. I will never be able to unsee his long eyelashes though!

I like how no one mentions the inconsistencies of Goofys eyes, being separate, then conjoined by any iteration. Omg look at 2:17 his eyes changed style in an instant.

Yeah it's very weird how Claribelle got the conjoined eyes on her walkaround and not Goofy, even Pluto should have conjoined eyes on his walkaround.

It’s a little weird that Goofy not Pluto never have. Goofy still looks like he did in the 1950s as George E. Geef.

You forget to mention also in 1978, Goofy’s hands 🙌 are changed from the five character hands 🙌 to the four character gloves 🧤 and in 1999 Goofy’s eyelashes are also removed.

you know, before going to disneyland i always thought "why do people act like these genuinly are the characters" but after going i realise that the atmosphere is so good its genuinly believable

Dan, why’s it so surprising that Goofy water-skied? The man tried every sport known to man! It’s more surprising he didn’t constantly crash and fumble while a big, booming British voice narrated over it all. Gotta love how Goofy’s costume evolution isn’t as horrifying as his peers. Say what you will about the first mold, but at least he didn’t have holes cut into his face like some horror-movie serial killer.

I have a new idea for a Distory video: How about you make a 4-part episode on certain days talking about the evolutuions of the Wiggly Friends costumes from The Wiggles? The first part talks about Dorothy the Dinosaur, second is Henry the Octopus, third Captain Feathersword and fourth Wags the Dog. You can look on Wigglepedia, which is the fandom site, for the pages of Dorothy the Dinosaur Through the Years, Henry the Octopus Through the Years, Captain Feathersword Through the Years (Which does have two incomplete design sections that still need more information) and Wags the Dog Through the Years for reference. The reason I'm mentioning those four is because Shirley Shawn the Unicorn is a relatively new costume from 2019 and doesn't have much evolution in her yet, so I chose the original four because they're the focus of attention. So what do you say, Distory Dan? Can we do a 4-part episode talking about the evolution of Dorothy, Henry, Captain and Wags in that order? And do you think it's possible? Be honest.

Trying to imagine if the Goofy costume was made by the same company that made the costumes for the ice capades in some other reality...so sure where the cut outs would go since his nose is kinda in the way but...still terrifying none the less 😰

Out of all the costume characters, I’d say the Goofy costume has and will always be the funniest. I’m not kidding! I’ve been going to Disney Parks for many years and the Goofy costume has done some very cool and funny things unexpectedly and I’m sure the guys that dress up and act as Goofy, must be very funny themselves! What I mean is, the man himself must probably be very funny in order to play the role of Goofy even when he’s not in character. I love Goofy, he’s always been one of my favorite Disney characters!

If they were to re-sculpt his head they should give him conjoined eyes like his cartoon counterpart. He should probably wear a black vest instead of a yellow vest. They could do that for Pluto as well. Kind of like how they removed the lipstick from the Minnie Mouse costume.

So Golfball Goofy did exist? I thought (or hoped) it was just a fever dream I had when I fell asleep watching The Disney Channel.

I love watching your stuff- I am not sure if you have saw, but I shared a video of the original costume color guide I have from WDI- by the Imagineer that helped design the much-needed redo of the costumes, Bill Justice!

Idk if this’ll be relevant, but here’s a fun fact: Goofy’s name in Spanish (not sure if it’s Latin American, Castellano, or both) is Tribilín. It’s fun to say!

Why did they never feature Goofy on the Icecapades? He would've been perfect! Imagine him slipping and sliding all over the place, flopping around... Plus if there ever was an accident, they could just play it off as a part of the show!
