Evolution of GOOFY - 87 Years Explained | CARTOON EVOLUTION

Ойын-сауық

EXPLAINING DISNEY #11
To celebrate the 87th Birthday it Walt Disney’s Goofy (AKA Dippy Dawg, The Goof, George Geef), I take a look at his evolution, right from his first Mickey Mouse short appearance in 1932, his Mickey Donald and Goofy trio-shorts of the 1940s, his ‘everyman’ phase in the 1950s, his turn on cult classic series Goof Troop and its spin-off movies A Goofy Movie and An Extremely Goofy movie, right through to his modern day CG look.
I take a look at how he evolved alongside Disney’s other popular characters, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, as a follow-up to my previous videos “Evolution of MICKEY MOUSE Over 90 Years (1928-2018) Explained” and “Evolution of DONALD DUCK Over 85 Years (1934-2019) Explained”.

Please stop asking why I did not include Kingdom Hearts in the video. This video is not about every single thing the character has been in or every single piece of clothing he has every worn. It is about his design and character evolution in animation and not video games. Just as I don't mention every single short the character has appeared in, I don't mention every single show or movie or game. We would be here for hours. Regardless, the Kingdom Hearts design just takes the Clubhouse design and puts new clothes on him. It's irrelevant to the overall evolution of the character and to the video.

My first thought when i saw this video (before i clicked on it) was "Lets see how he fits Kingdom Hearts into this". And you did not. Also, with this attitude of a comment you have written, you have earned a dislike from me. You want to act through in your video but get butthurt when people ask about Kingdom Hearts.

I think Goofy is the single best character that Disney has ever produced. Dedicated father, doesn't have a single malicious bone in his body, generally upbeat and good-natured, and when he happens upon someone who's in a bind, major or minor, his first instinct is usually to try to help.

I could not fathom why they did this, and was obsessed with it. They also were inconsistent with the body skin colors. Both Goofy and Pete were shown to have both pink bodies and black bodies.

You know the scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit when he's in the theater watching Goofy with a look of hero worship on his face? That's me watching ANYthing Goofy-related. I'm a bit of a klutz and always goofing up which is why I identify with him so much. Goofy from Goof Troop is an awesome, caring dad, too which is why I honestly envy Max a little. • @ZiddersRooFurry

@@vincentfranklin17 Pete definitely has his issues but then Peg's not perfect either. They're both selfish and self-centered in their own way. In a way it's why they're perfect for each other. They each can't stand and use each other to the same degree. Goofy would end up disappointing Peg because despite his affable nature Goofy's got a reserve of confidence within himself that Pete doesn't have. When it comes down to it Goofy would stand up for himself while Pete ends up letting Peg run roughshod over him. At least that's based on the shows logic. They used a lot of sexist stereotypes when they developed Peg. The movies weren't too different. I love the series as a whole but it definitely could have used a lot better character design when it came to the women in the series.

The issues I have with the current Paul Rudish Goofy design is the emphasis on him being too gross and too unrefined. He has lots of little hairs sticking out, a long bulbous chin, and even has torn up shoes. I guess they wanted to emphasize the “hick” side of him, but in these newer shorts, it comes off as offputting and not the Goofy everyone knew him as.

My iconic Goofy will always be from the 1940s "how to" shorts. I believe he's at his funniest in those, played against the strait man narrator or game announcer. "Goofy Double Dribble" is a personal favourite. But in those, Goofy isn't so much a character, as he is a template for ALL the characters. Which may explain his evolution into his role as an every-man, like you explain. 1949s "Goofy Gymnastics" is also pretty good.

When I saw that as a kid I could not stop laughing (the harmonica cracks me up to this day). Clock Cleaners is absolutely brilliant. Tiger Trouble, A Boy and his Lion and the list goes on. I’ve always felt any time goofy was shown with small eyes, no ears, differently stylized teeth, or even with anything slightly “off-goofy”, it wasn’t really goofy but some other character of the same species/race. This is supported by the many shorts which depict multiple goofy-like characters simultaneously on screen such as “Californy er Bust” and the various Goofy sports shorts where there are many Goofy-esque athletes in different shapes and sizes. They can’t all be Goofy, can they?
