Excellent review. I have had this saws predecessor, the Rage3, for about 10 years. Mounted on a gravity rise stand it has been a good saw for doing odd jobs around the farm. Just used it to cut half round guttering and round corrugated downspout for a garage project.

At one time I had the evolution rage dual bevel miter saw. It did everything that saw does except slide. The saw was a bit more expensive than one from say Lowes or home depot. It did however cut stuff that other miter saws would not. I had pretty much the same experience with that saw that he had. If you notice, he is touching those metal parts right next to the cuts. The saw puts most of the heat in the chips and not much into the remaining metal. This is a nice feature along with little to no prep after the cut to weld. The biggest issue that I had with the saw was the plastic parts on it. The blade guide on the table will get chips imbeddeded in it and they will either scratch softer materiel or throw off a cut if not removed. The other issue that i had with it was blades. The blades did not last like i think that they should. The arbor on the saw is also not a standard size so no going to the store and getting a wood blade from another manufacturer for a wood project if your blade is dull. Other than that it was a good saw while I had it. I have not replaced it because metal blades for other manufacturers have become prolific in the hardware stores in my area so there is really no need to get a specialty saw like that when I can just get a blade. All in all my take on the evolution saw line is that they are made to a price point, then once purchased, you are stuck getting evolution blades for whatever you are doing due to offsize arbor. Unless you have a evolution dealer local, blades must be ordered online so get extra if you get one so your project is not shut down by a dull blade.

I bought this saw a few years ago because I build a lot of custom decks and I usually need to cut the aluminum and sometimes steel spindles. My only gripe about this saw, if you aren’t paying attention and taking your time the blade will grab the material and jam up. I had to completely disassemble it to straighten the backing fence and replace the blade arbor shaft because my blades started wobbling. Otherwise it’s a decent little saw.

That is a really first rate review video. I was even tempted to buy one even though I have a Evolution saw. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.

Excellent video as usual! Seems like a fairly nice all purpose option. Years ago craftsman did a multi-material saw similar to this. It not a sliding saw though. And it’s a weird size. If I remember correctly it’s 8-3/4”…I bought one for building a go kart. It definitely worked but not well on anything. And when you use it for steel. It is EXTREMELY LOUD!!! But I used the crap out of it. And when I bought my bandsaw I gave it to my dad and he still has it to this day. And used it to build a room in their basement. The only thing have to complain about with this evolution. Is the soft start… I have a very love/hate relationship with soft starts. Most of the time it just reduces productivity. But I do love soft start routers…

Got one in my workshop over here in the United Kingdom. Works faultlessly. Love it. And Evolution their customer service is great too, any suggestions for improvement they listen and take the advice on board. New products are constantly in development as they make a whole range of tools. Got an Evolution Rage table saw too as I was so impressed with the sliding saw.

Very good review, thank you. I bought the single bevel 10" saw because the dual was way too much! I also have the 14" Evolution Rage II which I like a lot. Here's a tip. Mak sure you let the blade stop using the brake before moving it up (I lost a few teeth on my 14" not doing that). There's 2 things I don't like abought the mitering saw. 1: The hold down clamps are not the best (not like the 14"). I believe it's because I think they want it to be used as a wood saw. 2: Trying to find a "Non-Evolution" blade is hard as hell because the 10" Evolution blade has a 1" arbor where as everyone has a 7/8" arbor. I found a 120 tooth 10" blade with a 30mm arbor and got an adapter ring the brings it to 25mm (1") on Amazon. When cutting plastic or mfd with a top and edge banding make a light scoring pass before a final deep cut (you'll cut down on tear out). I mounted my 10" on a HF Mobile Miter Saw Stand so I could wheel it around, fold it up or remove the saw for putting it in my truck (you'd need to move the saw in a neutral position and move the lower rolling foot out for balance). Anyway, enough of my rambling on! Thank you for your review and projects (thtat's why Isubscribe).

Price is reasonable I think. It looks like there is quite a bit of flex to the whole unit.

16:38 - how thick did you say that wall is?! :) I cant help wonder what the multiblade might have fared like on the alloy if you hadn't put it through the steel first...

@makingstuff how dose this compare to the Evolution S355MCS? I'm only interested in cutting metal.

If you are only going to cut metal, the S355MCS is the way to go. It is much more heavy duty and dedicated to just metal cutting.
