Evo X GSC S2 Cam Idle - Before and After

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

instagram@regwaslike
Hello everyone,
I just threw together a quick video comparison with my Evo when it had stock cams vs now with GSC S2 Cams and a bigger turbo set up. There are some people out there who want to know what the idle is like with aftermarket cams, or if you’re like me, the cam idle makes my soul happy, along with the power it has overall given me to 8k rpm. Enjoy this ASMR! =)

    Are the s2 cams reliable so far in terms of cam gears cracking or breaking prematurely? What would be the best way to maintenance it to prevent that other than not over revving ?

    My car has been running great and I daily mine. I also have gsc valve springs and retainers. While the car was basically apart for the cam install, I did the timing chain kit and arp head studs as well for maintenance/support since I have 119k miles on my car. As long as the install goes well and you have a good tuner, you shouldn't have any issues.

    How’s drivability with the cams? How does it differ from driving normally with stock cams?

  • @reginald3497

    @reginald3497

    Drivability is like stock, except now you have the cam loop at idle. With the cams valve springs and retainers, I can now rev to 8k.

    My idle is around 1k rpm. Does go up and down but very slightly. No issues with taking off in first gear with the bigger cams/lope.

    When you first had the cams installed and no tune. Did the gas pedal responsiveness feel slagging or had delay?

  • @reginald3497

    @reginald3497

    No issues when I had the cams installed. All I did was drive it with no boost whatsoever until it was time to get tuned. I’d reach out to your tuner for a base map to play it safe when you get your cams installed so you can drive it safely until you get the full tune done.

    @@reginald3497 weird my car has like 1 second before rpm goes up after tapping the gas pedal. When I press the gas pedal just a little bit, the rpm goes below 300 and stall out. I have a surge tank with Walbro 525. Do you think it’s my fuel system causing it to do that or just the cams?

    I'm up to 300,000km, but with a total rebuild at 290,000 with forged internals, ARP stud kit etc. Still on the stock turbo (albeit a new one) and stock cams. Thinking about cams as my next upgrade.
