Evo 9 Punishes Modified GTR on the Highway! - "BURNALL4"

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

On this episode we hop in Mike's very clean and aggressive Mitsubishi Evolution 9 RS and this thing rips! Besides the aggressive Weld Racing beadlock wheels this car looks factory stock inside and out, but it's heavily modified to run 9's in the 1/4 mile. We ran into an alpha GTR at the shootout and asked if he wanted to race the evo, check out the results for yourself. Thanks for watching!

    True, dude. I honestly would take an Evo (especially the 9) over an R35 GTR or even the R34 GTR. Light weight, AWD, looks awesome and is pretty damn reliable. What's not to love?

    Haha, no man. The R34 is sweet, and would choose the 34 over the 35, but the Evo IX king in my opinion. The lighter weight along with the AWD is the selling point for me (also looks sexier in my opinion).

    Mike Rubin is an awesome and amazing guy. I had the pleasure of racing with him in the semifinals at the Shootout. Unfortunately as you can see at the end of this video my motor let go. I would have never made it to the semifinals without Mike. My car was protested by a competitor that was nowhere near up front with the rest of us. Mike jumped in and came up with a set of rims and tires from his pits (including a back seat) and scrambled to get the parts on my car so I could continue to compete. Next thing you know I end up in the semifinals against Mike! First class racer, A+ guy. THANK YOU MIKE! I look forward to seeing you and your crew next year and thank you again sir. Judd

    WhiteRice , the reality is evo fan boys get them don’t do the correct supporting mods throw a fat turbo chasing that “record “ you speak of and end up blowing up . Set up correctly and done with the correct mods without cutting corners and anything can be done . 8 second street car full interior whateves....moral to the story there’s a lot more that goes into evos than just throwing bolt ons coilovers and removing the wing ...

I hate that I'm one of the unlucky owners that got screwed out of my first build which had to immediately go back into the shop for pretty much a second build. I can't wait for the day where I can have a solidly built Evo I can drive spiritedly on the streets and not have to worry about anything major going wrong, lol.

  • @jpscharged

    @jpscharged

    That's more like 750whp on a normal dyno. It should be trapping in the upper 140's for a 3150lbs car. Those mustang dyno's are stingy. I put down 1288whp on one with my GTR and at a vehical weight of 3400lbs I was in the 2.7 60-130 on the street. 7.7@180 on a prepped track with 15" slicks on the back.

    An example of a nice, well sorted Evo. All dynometers can be manipulated and setup to read higher, through certain ways depending on their hardware and software in use. The variation between a DJ and an MD i.e, could be from 10% to 16%. A well calibrated and setup Dynojet in comparison to a properly calibrated Mustang dynometer, will read 9% -10% higher, for instance AMS states that their DJ reads 8% higher than their MD dyno.

    Evo 4g63s are bulletproof like other top JDM engines, but the transmission, tcase, differentials, even body built like rusts (maybe mitsu cut cost there) are more of the weak point. Reference Evo 7 now 9 driver here. 😊 But bottom line, Evo 7-9 still better than X, Evo any gen better than Wrx Sti any gen, and we hope Nissan, since they control mitsu now, decides to build another Evo soon. 😄

  • @TboneSTEAK111

    @TboneSTEAK111

    5 жыл бұрын

    You do realize every pre-generation to the Evo X had 20 years to run a 7 second pass, but hasnt. The Evo X has barely been out 10 years and english racing had to build R&D the ENTIRE platform that had zero base ground and is already running low 8's at 1200 HP, with an unfilled block, aluminum at that, with a basic ass setup and he's still top 5 for fastest evo in the world? The same Evo 7-9 running those times are atleast 1400-1800 hp, weight less and STILL can barely edge out on top. So what does that tell you about the platform? You watch ER Evo X go down the track it is straight as an arrow, no wheel hop, smooth. A low 8 second evo 8 is flying all over the track bogging launches and dismantling itself. Buschur himself said he prefers the 4b11. Lucas english himself said he prefers the 4b11. They make more power with the same exact mods, and run faster times with less horsepower because it is a better designed and balanced chassis.

    Everyone always wants to do a highway pull with me when I'm driving my Evo. They never ask for a dig run, they usually blame their lack of good tires or say it wouldn't be a fair race😂

    @@queue1176 not me, I have cheap tires but my car is still takes off like a bat out of hell from a dig. One evo driver tried, but I was faster off the line, he tried but I over took him to make my left turn. If I had one of these cars I would definitely upgrade the clutch and upgrade the transfer case ring and pinion

    Bias ply tires would help a ton on dig runs. They don't shock the drivetrain as bad a radials.

    I'm just wondering if it's normal to put your car in neutral after making hits? I was taught to not put it into neutral when going fast because you might mess up your transmission when you want to put it in gear again, this was a long time ago so maybe the cars can handle it now.

    Nice. That Evo is some sort of a proper race car, just look at those tires. Maybe he should play with some AMS GT-R out there. 😏 And the stock tcase? Oh my, do not launch this car too much. Evo 7 being the most rigid tcase among CT9As still can’t haddle so much launch abuse.
