    Missed opportunity. Too much talk about how good it is, not enough about how to use and take advantage of its features. Why is it that when it comes to learning about how to use products in general, that consumers need to seek out to watch third party videos as opposed to one’s made by manufacturers?

    Question: can one of the channels for mic be set to mono? I would like to use a SM7B for recordings and it would save so much time not having to fix sound coming out of only one channel. Currently using a Solid State Logic SSL2+ and looking for another interfaces.

    This would typically be adjusted on the software you are using for recording. In most DAW's you just need to ensure you are recording onto a Mono Track, or in some more simple recording software, you may just need to select a "Mono Audio" setting in the preferences. If you do need any help with this, let us know what software you use.

    QUESTION: Can you use both the headphone out, and the main outs, running them to a PA - both at the same time? You mentioned something in the video about muting the main outputs when you plug in the headphones.

  • @weareevoaudio

    @weareevoaudio

    No, it's not possible to use both outputs at the same time. The Smart Mute feature will automatically mute the speaker outputs when a set of headphones are plugged in.

    I have a quick question. When setting up the smart gain, do I speak into the mic with normal volume or should I speak louder than usual so that it can gauge what level "clips" the audio?

  • @weareevoaudio

    @weareevoaudio

    Жыл бұрын

    When using Smart Gain, you should try to use the loudest part of the track you are recording so that your inputs won't clip during this passage. Smartgain does leave you some headroom however so it's not the end of the world if your performance is a little louder than the Smartgain listening period.

    I have an issue on my Evo 4, when there is mic clipping the interface is not handling it well (only when monitoring is on, about 50% for example), after that it starts buzzing there's a static noise in the headphones output until I unplug and replug the interface to my computer. Its very annoying for streaming for example, only a little plosive clipping and I've got this issue (in the headphones output, even if I unplug the mic it keeps buzzing like a tinnitus). Also I cannot download any software on the ARC website, even thought I already registered my evo 4. I cannot claim anything.

    You would want to connect on of the Computers to the EVO via USB. Then on the second Computer, use a 3.5mm to 2x 1/4" TS splitter cable to feed this into the two inputs on the EVO. Now press the monitor Mix button (Upper button on the right) and adjust the control knob until you have a good balanced between the Mac and Windows PC.

    hey there, i'm new to recording so bear with me! i'm trying to figure out how to use my 2 XLR mics through EVO 4 interface to my Nikon Z30. I would like to have stereo recording, have one mic be as the left mic and have the other be as the right mic so I can have a binaural audio when I record. I'm currently using 2 XLR cables to power my mics which is connected to my evo and then i have a dual 1/4" TS (connected to my evo interface's line outputs) to 1/8" TRS jack (connected to my camera). For some reason it only sends a mono signal to my camera. I had a zoom H4N before as an audio interface and it would send a stereo signal to my camera. Please give me suggestions on what I should do! thank you!

    Yes, you'd just need to press the Monitor Mix button (upper button, right hand side) and then turn the control knob anti clockwise, you you should then start hearing the Mic input in your headphones. This will be a little quieter than the playback from the PC so you may need to increase the headphone volume slightly to hear yourself clearly.

    On EVO 4, the headphones are fed from the same source as the speaker outputs. Also plugging headphones in will automatically mute the speaker outputs so it's not possible to use both outputs at the same time. If you need a separate headphone output for a CUE mix then I'd recommend the EVO 8 or iD14 MKII instead.

    Are you using a 1/4" to 3.5mm headphone adaptor, if so can you ensure that the headphones are fully seated into the adaptor as some have screw threads that can stop the headphones from connecting fully? Also if you have a set of headphones with an inline mic, the TRRS jack can sometimes cause issues so you may need to use a splitter to separate the headphone and mic channels to their own TRS jacks.

    Can you run guitar pedals through the evo4? If so how?

  • @weareevoaudio

    @weareevoaudio

    Жыл бұрын

    You can just plug the output of pedals into the DI if you want to use them while tracking. If you wanted to send pre-recorded audio out to a pedal and re-record it then the EVO 4 wouldn't really work. You'd need the EVO 8 which as additional output channels, allowing you to send audio out, and monitor the processed signal.

    Hello there, You would set your inputs in Reaper to The EVO inputs 1+2. The output in Reaper should be EVO 4 Loopback Outputs 1+2. You may need to adjust the output range in the audio preferences for these channels to show up. Then in Discord/Zoom/Gmeet...etc set your input device as EVO 4 Loopback 1+2. Finally, in the EVO loopback Mixer, pull up the Loopback 1+2 channels. Do not pull up any other faders or you may get feedback.

    Its not possible to directly monitor the loop-back channels, you'd just need to set up a second send on the reaper channels to output the same audio to outputs 1+2 as well as the Loop-back channels
