Appreciate the updates and inside stories. EVGA + Nvidia sounds like a marriage that went bad. Real bad. The online monitoring of development by NVIDIA is controlling and creepy, for lack of a better word. I'll look forward to the EVGA 790 MB and maybe some of their top internal talent can do some innovating with power supplies. Keep those updates coming!

EVGA replaced a card I had that was out of warranty, during the pandemic lockdowns. Really a life saver and one of the few times I've had a company go above and beyond for me like that.

Same here. I bought a motherboard from them that was defective out of the box. Without hassle they sent me a new one within 2 days without asking for thr original one first. They're a great company.

When I got to my point in the line for a RTX 3060 I was buying for a friend, the website wouldn't let me make the purchase. I called customer support and had it taken care of within three minutes. Their customer support was professional, kind, and personable. EVGA has quality people throughout the company. Pray things remain well with them.

I still remember a friend of mine that had an old rig running a 7600GT for years, it died after around 5-6 years running and he reached out to them and they sent him a 9600GT, he didn't even had to pay shipping. Yet the 1080ti I bought from them directly died barely a year into owning it and they gave me paragraphs worth of excuses as to why it was actually out of the warranty period when it wasn't, same with one of their PSUs. I'm convinced EVGA has these comments (and Reddit) so thoroughly astroturfed that barely any of these simpy stories are real, it would make sense since so many of these stories are 95% similar with only tiny details changed to make them appear different. I've seen AI programs give more believable variation.

Pretty shite to hear that they left you hanging with a pricey card like a 1080ti. The story I told here was absolutely insane for LATAM standards, as YamiFly mentioned. It really left a mark. Could be that they're great or maybe my friend was just insanely lucky and got picked on the customer service lotery.

EVGA adding value to a product means the customer has less need (or desire) to buy the higher end product that uses the higher cost GPU from nVidia. Another subtle aspect of adding value is that those methods are proprietary to that company and can be patented, thus nVidia cannot develop identical methods. Since nVidia is also selling some cards (FE type) and presumably will sell the whole gamut in the future, it's a subtle but important action for nVidia to prevent other card manufacturers from developing and patenting improvements that nVidia would have also developed and patented.

Of course, Nvidia is perfectly free to do with their products and associated tools as they wish. But just because it's allowed doesn't mean they have a right. They've pushed too far this generation, diehards are ready to jump ship for real. The problem is, Nvidia just doesn't care, gamers make up a small and shrinking portion of their revenue. Why do they care about individual customers that buy one GPU at a time when they can go after the ones that buy them by the hundreds or thousands at a time? It's obvious they only really care about the enterprise side these days, the fact they're still tossing us a new GeForce every couple years is just a bonus.

To me it seems really illogic for a company to ditch there biggest revenue without having a back up plan. Maybe they already have other things in mind but because it is in an early stage they keep it quiet.This is of course pure speculation but no company will do things that will harm them badly, even for a company with integrity. Here in the Netherlandswe have a saying tha says: "Gooi geen oude schoenen weg voordat je nieuwe hebt" which translate to don't throw away old shoes utill you have new ones.

Such great QC that several of my parts from them failed after barely a year and such great customer service that all they did was give excuses about why they couldn't honor warranties for products well inside their 3+ year warranty period and bought directly from their website (they claimed I bought from a reseller on Amazon when I didn't). For all the simping you EVGA fanboys (shills) do, I've yet to actually experience this utopia of customer service and product quality you circlejerk about. My Gigabyte PSU lasted longer and they eventually created a fucking bomb, and my previous MSI card managed to last more than a year before randomly dying too and they actually honored their warranty surprisingly. But sure, they are so amazing.. so amazing they had 3090s bricking themselves for months playing video games.

Only reason I'd invest in an intel ARC card is if EVGA made one.

Most of the 15 nvidia cards I have owned since the 90s were evga cards. I never had a problem with any of them, except for the one I literally caught fire to myself, which they replaced no questions asked, with a newer, slightly faster card. evga deserves to be in the hall-of-fame of companies, if there ever was such a thing.

@@TheMC1X Oh, the card I started the fire on was the 7800 GT back in the day. I was doing a GPU shunt mod and when I was op testing it, my dumb ass tried turning on the pc wit the card not completely in the pci-3 slot. A big spark accompanied by a loud pop, then an open flame on the rear of the pcb. Thank goodness I was able to put it out right away and saved the rest of my rig lol

Going to miss EVGA's service. I recall I had to file a warranty claim a few years ago. They did not have the card in stock and they asked if I will accept a comparable replacement. They sent me a NEW next generation card at no extra cost. They were very modest about saying "comparable". Since then I've only run EVGA cards. Service like this is why EVGA's awesome. They will be missed in the GPU space, no doubt about it.

For sure, I had a similar issue with a psu and since then I’ve run only EVGA psu’s and gpu’s, I have an EVGA 3080 I was going to upgrade through the elite program to either a 4080 or 4090 but it looks like that won’t happen :(

They've treated me very well for over 10yrs now, I had a 4-way SLI X58 E-762 Classified board melt the 24pin mobo connector because the booklet said to only plug in the extra molex gpu power on the pcie lanes if running 4 cards, and only two GTX 480 Fermi cards fried it when overclocked. They sent a new board and I continued running 4 GTX 480's on it later lol. Only had one lower tier card that was DoA later on, all the rest of my EVGA cards all run flawlessly to this day. I'm not a NVIDIA fanboy despite running NVIDIA cards over a decade, I'm only loyal to EVGA because they treat customers well and their stuff is solid. If something is wrong, EVGA will make it right.

What did they do during the crypto boom? The 3000 series was fairly well received I recall. And Steve already said multiple times that his supply chain sources noted Nvidia was having the cards made as fast and as much as they could. (which is why there's also a glut of 30 series afterwards) Did something else happen? Hell they even tried to limit the hash rate of their cards to discourage miners from using them.

AMD wouldn't mind; heck, it'd be a great boon for them if KINGPIN stays on and works on AMD cards. AMD is in need of a hardcore OC'er who could push the limits of their silicon and discover any weaknesses they could rectify, and give AMD a strong rival to halo flagship cards from NVIDIA, like Galax' HoF and Colorful's KUDAN.

Apparently there is a leaked conference call (somewhere on the interwebs) between Nvidia and EVGA where they were told they'd have to buy up Nvidia's existing RTX 3000 stock to even be a board partner in the new 40 series.

I'll miss EVGA, because during the shortage, they held a waitlist for graphics cards. I was able to get my 3060Ti last December, 9 months before the Ethereum Merge took out GPU mining and made cards widely available, 6 months before Crypto Winter fell in and made cards somewhat available I didn't see Gigabyte or MSI do anything nearly as rational as this and allowing normal people access to these parts.

Could you imagine how big the announcement would be for AMD if they could secure EVGA as an exclusive GPU partner. Prob won’t happen. But woo boy that would be exciting to see.

It would be a lot bigger for Intel. Could be a great way to make an entrance. Assuming Intel appreciates what they represent then eVGA could negotiate better terms with them. At the moment eVGA has strong distribution connections and a very famous brand name. But if Intel fails then they'd be in a worse position to switch teams afterward. Regardless of what eVGA has said publicly, I do wonder if signing up with Intel or AMD is in the long term plans and they just don't want to talk about it yet. Maybe negotiating right now.

Loosing EVGA is a big mistake IMO. Those cards feel premium even the small ones unlike the other AIBs. But is not just the quality that will be missed, less AIBs means less competition between Nvidia partners which means higher prices to the already insane official prices! Let's see if they won't have to regret that sooner than expected.

@@TheGodfather101 I second the eBay 3090s. Watch eBay like a hawk for the next month and you should be able to score a $650 3090. Nothing else really makes sense to buy. Watch those backplate memory temps. If possible make sure you replace the thermal pads and stick a heatsink on the backplate. Helps quite a bit with memory temps. From 110C to ~85c.

16:05 - 5% video card margin vs. power supply margin that is 300% higher would actually be 20%, not 15%, right? Because 100% higher would imply 10% margin, 200% higher would be 15%, and 300% higher would be 20%. The emphasis is on the "higher" wording. yes, the issue is here that steve is using 300% as a replacement for "3x the margin". but phrasing it in a ways that sounds like and additional 3x of the gpu margin that results in a 4x factor.

You are right. People confuse "300% higher" and "300 of". "300% higher" actually means "400% of" because to be higher you must have the first 100% to begin with.

I've been an EVGA customer since 2006. I built my first gaming pc with there nforce 680i sli with a core2 duo and two 8800gts gpu's. Man I was proud of that build, it was the first pc I experienced that had real power. Been hocked on custom pc building ever since. I hope for many more years for EVGA as a company and wish them the best.

Sad to hear they're not looking towards Zen 4 for their future motherboard line up. The X570 DARK, if expensive, is a beautiful board and I'm sure quite capable.

Recieved my EVGA RTX 3080 literally THE DAY you guys broke this story, freaking insane. However from what I've read EVGA is handling the situation well and hopefully they're making a positive move. Also from my personal corrispondence with EVGA support they say they'll honor my 2 year warranty.

EVGA will forever remain one of my favorite companies, their pro-consumer focus is admirable and rare in this industry. I would love to see them eventually playing ball for AMD, in both the GPU and motherboard space. I would buy their AMD products in a heartbeat.

Truthfully, EVGA has one of the highest failure rates out of all the AIBs. I'm not sure why people love EVGA so much other than they have a good RMA/warranty policy and they get overhyped by tech-youtubers. Still good products, if you get one that doesn't fail, but they do have the highest rate.

I had a friend that had one fan failure in 15years of EVGA cards, and they replaced the entire card no questions ask. I repaired that fan and used it for years when my old 480 finally wouldnt cut it any more and I had no money.

One semi-failure of a 3080Ti HDMI port for 4k 120Hz @ 10-bit RGB (specifically this setting). I thought it was anything but the card and spent a couple hundred dollars on HDMI cables before contacting them. Warranty service was amazing. Everywhere I look, businesses are trading return on investment for quality of service. EVGA leaving the videocard industry is a hit to warranty service on videocards. Anyone know of another company that will cover the warranty if you watercool your card with a third-party block?

I love EVGA so much. Very sad about this happening, but I'll always support them.

I would be happy with standard ATX boards from them... Most of their boards are E-ATX which don't fit in any case I've ever used.

@@MistyKathrine Doesn’t matter, many companies have Cases even tho they dont sell ATX boards. Still they sell other things like fans and PSU that you can use. We need more Mini ITX Cases specially now with the New GPU sizes getting bigger. So far the NR200P is the only one still capable to carry the 40 series and 3090 GPUs

@@powerhouse884 I actually have an EVGA power supply in my current PC. It came bundled with the GPU I bought last year. My preferred brand for PSUs is Super Flower, but I did always go EVGA for my GPUs.

I like buying from EVGA, I never feel like I'm going to be ripped off. every single interaction I've had with EVGA has been great, I'm going to miss buying video cards from them.

Finally, I would add that I have been in managerial and director positions where we were working with an outside vendor or agency that was difficult to work with. Sometimes this was a person, sometimes this was a culture present at the company. The stress this puts on a company and everyone working in it can be daunting, even life-sucking. You dread days where you know there will be a meeting or some other interaction, dread days where you discuss contracts for the next year(s). Yes, you want to make a profit or serve your customers (in the case of a non-profit), but this stress of a toxic relationship can profoundly affect your quality of life, quality of life for your employees. It isn't inconsequential, quite to the contrary......

The company I work at needed some additional high-specced PC recently and I was asked to select the parts, so I looked at EVGA's parts to see if I could include some of them considering they treat their customers well. Sadly they don't seem to distribute where I live, or at least not distribute as well as other brands.

These guys have got to be the best PC tech channel on here. No contest. The amount of effort and work that they put into each video is just nuts. Hardware Unboxed is right up there as well. Other tech youtubers are more like entertainers these days, and they don't go as in-depth, unfortunately. Not that they suck cuz of that, but you get my point.

If you take a look at subscriber counts you'll see that that's what sells these days. That's what draws people in. Same shit with music or cinema or other content. Gamer’s Nexus notoriety is self-sustaining that they don’t have to engage in it, but they would most likely see larger channel growth if they did. LTT notoriously does it, but to maintain a large channel growth, as you said. It’s what draws in clicks and the algorithm tracks engagement based off clicks, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think that at this point in time it's safe to state that Nvidia is very anti-consumer. Really wishing the best for EVGA. Still hoping they can join team(s) Red and/or Blue in the near future and just send Nvidia a giant *expletive* in their general direction.

Sure, but it's iffy whether Intel will even have a horse to hitch to for much longer, and with EVGA being passionate about performance, I suspect they aren't enthusiastic about Arc's driver situation. They'd be more likely to join AMD, a known quantity making exciting strides in GPU manufacturing. While I'm sure AMD grabs a healthy margin in sales to its board partners these days, their emphasis cost effectiveness likely leaves noticeably more headroom for AIBs than Lovelace would.

AMD has shown that they aren't much better than nvidia and are on a road to be even worse with how they locked their resizable bar implantation behind their current gen CPUs, GPUs, and chipsets.

There are so many variables to why EVGA pulled out of making video cards. Between all of this you have crypto miners, an overstock in video cards, inflation, binned gpu's, and some of the other stuff we have no clue on - I can absolutely understand why EVGA is saying "I'm Out"

@@Wobbothe3rd Nvidia makes it very difficult for AIB's to make profit. Most gpu sales are like 5% profit. Nvidia has purchase requirements and if an AIB doesnt purchase enough Nvidia will threaten them with pulling their high end supply or their next gen products. So its basically a hostage situation.

I was on the EVGA queue to get a 30 series. I missed my order window by minutes, and couldn’t order. I emailed them and they renewed my link, I was able to order and enjoy my 3060Ti. Will miss them in the market!

I know they probably won't but EVGA teaming up with AMD would be an absolute dream team combination that would take the market by storm.

It’s still running perfect and my pc is air cooled. You sound like you did summ stupid in your build, because 95% of time its how you manage your build. Id suggest you check your build, but you sound like you come to bottom of barrel insta conclusions, so no company can help with this 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have to say EVGA impressed me. They stood by their product when I had issues with a 1080 Ti I had owned for a couple of years. I ran into problems with it and they RMA'd the card for me without any hassle and communicated with me through their forums and directed me to that end. Apart from that, their effort to introduce a queue system during the supply shortages of 30 series cards also speaks volumes about where their concerns are in terms of consumer focus. I'm sad to see them leave the space and I would have been content to continue to give them my business. I'd go so far as to say I'm disappointed to have to give it to someone else. I do hope they eventually decide to take on AMD later on down the road. Good luck to them regardless.

Way back in the day, I had a 7950GTsomething. Turned out it was incompatible with the next Windows OS release, and they RMAd me to the new generation of cards. You can’t expect that kind of service from anyone.

The last part hits different. That's definitely a point that EVGA had stood for when others did not - the overclockers. Probably they could somehow bring that experience into their motherboards (but ASUS holds the crown on that - let me know if that changed lately) but that's definitely a loss on the community. The Big Sad. As with the others...really hope they get back on GPUs for either the remaining camps. So many bad news the last few years...at least there should be a win for some time

I bet intel and AMD are actually pretty excited at thE proposition of partnering with EVGA, this whole deal looks almost like a positively angled marketing campaign to the other GPU companies from a certain perspective. It screams “hey the people love us and we made good shit! Buy in!”

Sapphire was my go to manufacturer for all and cards, up to the latest Rx 580. They have good solid cooling solutions and never failed on me. And one sticks to what works. Reliable, cool, silent. Sadly for them I am not in need for the near future for any new GPU as I replaced my PC with a laptop.

Literally exactly why I ordered a 3090ti FTW3 ultimate because I couldn't find a kingpin new and I don't want a 4000 series like I was planning without EVGA to replace my 2080ti from EVGA on my motherboard from EVGA powered by my power supply from EVGA. Fuck Nvidia I hope they join Intel.

the 750ti and the future gpus of the same size were some of the coolest small yet powerful gpus i'm going to miss EVGA if they truly are done with gpus

I hope EVGA and Intel Arc works together to bring more competition into the GPU segment (and profits of course).

Sept. 23, 2022 - Thanks to Steve and Gamers Nexus for another informative and interesting video report. I purchased an EVGA RTX3080 Ti in the past month from Amazon, because it was out of stock at EVGA. I did register the card with EVGA, and I will reach out to EVGA regarding the warranty on the card. Since as Steve pointed out they will no longer be supporting NIVIDA GPUs, it will be interesting to see if they are offering any compensation for that.

They will still offer the standard 3 year warranty on the card, the refunds were for people who bought the extended 7 year warranty (for 10 total).

@@Heathensauce yes, announcing zero layoffs and holding onto stock to fulfil warranty and repairs is definitely how a company behaves when it's planning on shuttering in the next couple of years.

The first GPU I ever bought was an EVGA GTX 750ti. It was a great card for the time! It still lives on in a PC my brother and I built for my sister.

Hey Steve. One of the things the guys from Intel did share with Linus was the planned integration between iGPU and ARC to enable simultaneous independent use of both graphics functions. I bet EVGA could give you in a single mobo both the insanely best gaming board AND streaming board in one.

Fun Fact: I was working at OCZ in the lab one day when I thought "Man, a 90 degree ATX connector would go well in the new cases with the cable channels..." I end up on a phone call with a young Jacob Freeman and run it by him. He sends me a mock-up of the connector later that day and their next board had the connector. I ended up getting a TON of motherboards for free. EVGA boards have improved greatly. First one I had was the P55 Classified. Their current crop is great, whereas that board had some funky issues and PLX chip latency.

I don't think I've ever had an EVGA GPU and I'm feeling like I missed out. Hopefully they punch back with RDNA3. It sounds like that would be a really cool partnership.

I had a few things that I was the original owner of with EVGA where and when they still had the lifetime warranty offered with it. To not only see them honor it, but be as willing to offer to upgrade accordingly, was humbling. Honestly about the only thing I would have wanted differently with EVGA, was just to see some graphics cards and/or motherboards with a white pcb. That was kind of it, really. I'm going to miss them in the gpu space so damned much, that's for sure.

EVGA should revive it's mobo line, they really did make some of the best not that long ago

Really going to miss EVGA GPU's. Their service is unmatched. Remember the 1070 thermal pads issue years back? I dragged my feet on that and thought i'd missed their offer of free pads. I contacted them a few months ago just taking the chance that they would still honour it. No questions asked other than my address, was sent to me really quickly. Really excellent customer care.

Its a shame EVGA isn't launching a AM5 board with the launch of Zen4 but, delaying such a product until say Zen5 or Zen4+ is probably not a bad idea so any potential bugs can be fixed first. Best to take a wait and see approach.

Yeah, it sounded like they were having a lot of issues with the early boards. EVGA has a lot more experience working with intel boards, so waiting a bit before going into the next AMD board might not be a bad thing.

I can only IMAGINE what an EVGA partnership with Intel for ARC GPUs would do for Intel. It would boost their chances in the market by maybe 300%. Intel & AMD should both act FAST to this.

It may be too early for this, but a video dedicated to explaining all the different grievances that EVGA, and other AIB manufacturers have with Nvidia would be really interesting. It seems like you're covered quite a lot already. But, they're a bit spread out between different videos, some explanations are a bit short (I'm sure to keep video length down), and it sounds like there are more that haven't been talked about. Keep up the good work, I know I really appreciate it.

I bought an EVGA 750W Bronze PSU i few years ago for a build I was doing for a friend... about 2 years later it started have some baaaad coilwine and some ticks when turning it off or on. I wrote EVGA a supportticket, they said "send it in, we'll see". 3 weeks later (it had to ship internationally) I got an 850W gold PSU return, and an e-mail saying something "we could hear the same as you, we don't think it's a major issue, just some bad coilwine... sorry you had to wait, hope this new one will fit your needs"... They have AWESOME customer service in my book!
