back in the day I had palyed about 20 1v1 AoE2 matches, with the terrific record of 3 W 17 L. One of my victories came via "wonder construction" and I was super proud of myself. Next game I tried the same trick .. sent 1 builder to start building a wonder ... my opp simply sent 30, built the wonder first and defeated me easily :) Oh ... memories :)

In Age of Mythology in a big FFA the player with the wonder got defeated and resigned, but his wonder was still around. So we did let the timer of the resigned player run out fighting each other and at the end.. well, either the player who had resigned won after all or just everyone lost. That's for the priests and oracles of AoM to decide.

I was hoping you'd talk about why the devs decided to incorporate wonder victories as a possible game mode. Like tying it in to real life examples where a group won a decisive victory by building certain buildings in an area, like in your Portuguese video where they build important forts to hold the area, or if a group won a 'cultural' war like the romans domesticating the goths by giving them land and money.

Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for all your videos and stuff. When I first clicked on one of your videos about the Japanese, it really broadened my understanding of the game and made me want to get into it. I used to play one of the "Age of Worlds" games or something before that until seeing your videos, since then have switched to AOE. I played it for a couple of years (when AOE2HD came out) but got into some school stuff and wasn't allowed on a computer for almost a year after that and moved to FPS games. I've always liked watching your videos and decided to subscribe recently. I'd love if you uploaded more videos of just raw gameplay, or even gameplay with non-live commentary, I just like the way you explain the ways your playing (even if I don't play much anymore), and just how interesting you make your videos. Keep up the good work man!

I love AOM as much as i love AOE2 so, i'd love to see your tactics, comments maths and grades for it. Also game's nature makes it very, very interesting to think about because every civ. is different than each other and every age gives unique options. Anyway, i'd love to see you do it. Heyo Spirit, been watching since the Korean overview and really loving the channel, I'm wondering (pun unintended), who has the best hand cannoneers? Cheaper Italians? Beefy Turks (not including the Janissary, obviously)? Faster firing Spanish? Long range Indians? Portugese with ballistics? Heck, you could throw in slingers if you want since the two units share a similar role. Of course, this would consider their effectiveness against all types of units, common strategies, and common army compositions, maybe putting a few pikemen in front. Keep up the good work and #gojaps!

It would be interesting to see in a full official video to be honest. I do realise he has a Top 5 Gunpowder Civs video but not one on settling which HC is the best. My subjective rankings would be: #1 - Turks: Higher HP lets them take an additional HC shot (as well as survive longer in general) and they can tech into them the fastest, alongside faster creation time (25% I believe) #2 - Spanish: 18% faster firing lets them get their killing shot off (except against Turks) before everyone else, though that depends on if all 3 connect to their target. They can also pick up all their armour upgrades without a gold cost. #3 - Italians: Cheaper Hand Cannons are an easy top-tier bonus as cost is one of the main limitations of gunpowder units (each HC is normally 45 F 50 G), as well as their cheaper advances through the Ages. #4 - Portuguese: Ballistics for gunpowder has to count for something in a loose formation fight with units moving all around. Their HC are also for 15% less gold. #5 - Indians: +1 range is a subjectively great tactical advantage, often letting them get a shot before others can close in. It can either mean nothing (since HC have 70% ish accuracy) or killing your opponent before they can get their third shot off. My reason for putting them at #5 is lack of other bonuses towards HC and how late this comes in.

You can lock in villagers by building in the enemy base while playing wonder race. If you are quick enough, you can also try to build close to the wonder to hinder the other player with using the max amount of villagers. This hurts your own economy though, so I don't know if it costs more than you can gain from it.

Whenever me and my mates played AOE lan and had an odd number of players we'd open with a couple of rounds of Defend the wonder on Mega-random, 4v3 and 3v2 works quite well on that game mode and it's quick like deathmatch but you also need to have a good eco game too. Totally underrated game mode which can be really fun and has some awesome by the skin of your teeth moments when you're fighting to the last second to keep the wonder up/bring it down.

If you convert the wonder victory times/years from minutes to seconds only it makes a lot more sense why they're like that. Tiny / Small / Medium: 1000 s Normal: 1500 s Large: 1750 s Giant: 2000 s LudaKRIS: 2500 s Thus every "year" is 5 seconds long. It takes 25 seconds to train a villager which would be 5 in-game years. In contrast it takes 30 s to train a knight (6 years), 60 s to build a galley (12 years), and 200 s to build a castle with one villager (40 years).

Hey Spirit can you do a video about repairing siege and buildings. Like how much resources it costs and if its worth it if the health is low. Maybe have a bit about monk healing if needed to pad out the video. Cheers.

actually in my experience when two players finish the wonder at the same time, the one that started earlier is given preference.

Who are the best civs when it comes to wonder? Who can advance & build fastest and who has wonder-related bonuses? Those are some things I would have liked to hear about.

Hey Spirit of the Law. Big fan of the video, but I still need some calculations on salt generation from a wonder victory. I need to optimize my game against my friends. I don't want to win, I just want to win in the worst way possible. Keep up the good work

in age of empires online(celestia project)there are maps that you have to build the wonder before 25 mins,so you have to gold age rush then build the shit and defend it,that with 3 huge enemy bases one on each corner of the map and you have also to take down 3 of their castles

Master question: What happens if you build a wonder and during the countdown (lets say 10years left) you build and complete a 2nd wonder. Then the 1st wonder gets destroyed. Does the timer stay because of the "backup wonder" or reset because of its build time? ...If anyone knows, would be wonderful :)

I wish there were a bonus to wonders like in Rise of Nations (iirc). Certain wonder gives the owner a certain passive buff, e.g. att, def, food, wood, gold, etc... I think there are 2 wonders in AoE2 do that. The castle from Dracula mission (Forgotten empires) gives 3 paladins periodically. And Portuguese (I think) wonder shoots arrows.

8:20 when concerted in seconds, are 500 seconds. So basically 500 real life seconds are equal to 100 AOE2 years. Now 200 years (16:40) are 1000 years and the patterns goes on.

In King of the Hill, can you use the Celt sheep stealing strategy with the building as well? I know it's only supposed to work for sheep, but I feel like there could be something there

From another SotL video: It takes between 9-12 petards to take down a wonder and its very resource efficient at 3.33 ratio.
