My problem too. Certain situations make me panic when I feel I cannot make an easy exit, that panic makes me need the toilet instantly. For example if I'm waiting in a queue or stuck in traffic. Even appointments with the doctor or dentist. The fight or flight response kicks in and I just want to escape to the nearest toilet. It's more than just being nervous. People don't understand. It's pure fear or panic.

storybook eater you actually put the fear into words, that’s exactly what it’s like, i was sat in class and that very thing happened my heart started racing, my hands were shaking I was terrified

this is exactly me, it started when i was 9 i was in assembly and i have to pee so bad, i could not go to school without being stressed ever since that day. i have a lot of strange and weird phobias and anxieties and my friends just make fun of it. 😣

For me there are "safe" toilets. These are usually the ones in my home and some family. I go on annual camping trips and the toilets are in some sort of shipping container and turned into a restroom, and I always can't go to the toilet for a poop without someone I love or trust or something to distract me like my phone. I'm just glad to see its not only me. (I can't poop during the camping trips that usually last 7 days that's a really sore stomach by the end.) Also I'm scared of insects in and around the toilet.

Toilet phobia/Toilet anxiety can also be about the way the toilet hole looks, the sound of the toilet flushing, or the darkness of the stall, or darkness of the restroom in general. When a public toilet flushes, it sounds like a beast roaring so loudly, and then when the flush ends, it sounds like the beast is growling. That's why I like when there's other people in the restroom besides me, or a radio is playing music in the restroom loud enough to distract the flushing noise.

Mine is the shape of the inside of the toilet bowl and the water condition. Too low I freak out it floods I run out nearly having a heart attack. It might also be 2. one of the toilet and a 2nd of being watched by the bowl i.e. "this thing is looking at me and it's bowl balling my butt like a pervert"

@flatcapman I definitely agree with you on the malfunctions. They can be creepy. I've had that happen once when i worked for krogers. The employee restrooms urinal kept going off, and it was kinda creepy to me. That was when i was a courtesy clerk, which involved cleaning the restrooms, grabbing carts, and bagging groceries.

For me, it’s: • The toilet shape • The seat is another factor. The seat has to be a thick white round seat with a lid, it can’t be: coloured, grey, wooden, crescent shaped, without a lid or thin (Celmac Sontanas are the worst seats) • The colour (it can only be white or light grey) • The Cistern (can’t be a black cistern, concealed, low level, mid level or high level) • The flush is something that sets me off. I’m autistic, and I don’t do good with sudden load noises. Toilets are the worst offenders alongside dogs and shouty teachers • Can’t use Cubicles (related to Claustrophobia) • Public toilets with a door entry is a no go because then I’m trapped in (even worse when the Urinals are an auto flush or even worse a Steel Trough, that’s why I struggled with school toilets and had to use the staff toilet) • Brings me onto my other fear, Urinals. Porcelains ones are fine and flush urinals are ok (if they’re a walk in and out rather than a door entry, then I’m fine; however, stainless steel Urinals I just can’t)

I am extremely terrified of Automatic toilets or self-flushing toilets... I used to work at a T.J Maxx that had one and I would literally hold my pee in for 8 hour shifts!!! Now my blatter is horrible and I still have that fear. Thank God my job now has a standard restroom. Vacations are also horrible because I always have a hard time finding standard restrooms to use so we always end up having to walk back to the Hotel. So I guess you can say Toilet Phobia is pretty...Crappy lol

Hi Im Tina. My problem is that I find it hard to go around people, even my own family. It has got so bad that I even have to ask my own dad to go back to his home so Im alone to go to the toilet. I feel bad about asking him to leave .I get anxious and stress constantly about my job incase I need the toilet and people come around me while im using the toilet. I have been in tears about it. I have overdosed on laxitives because of it. So now I have informed my doctors and shes going to ring back in a couple of days and chat to me about it

My toilet anxiety has been in me for as long as I can remember. I have a panic attack in any toilet with a vent or fan. It is hard to cope with this, but I am learning to cope with my phobia with certain techniques and therapy.

Im just scared if i go n2💩💩 and flush it's going to raise the water. And that if the toilet keeps flushing forever. And the loud sound.... and im always anxious if i go in bathroom and someone is near the toilet im scared that they hear..... I like those outside bathrooms that you don't have to flush even when you are doing your business you don't make any sounds

Weird none of my reasons why I am scared of toilets is listed on here. I used to be terrified of toilets because the toilet design, and the hole shape freaked me out, but sometimes it would also make me scared because of how the toilet was positioned, or how the bathroom was created affected me as well. As a child I was scared of public toilets, but now I can use public toilets, but I would never go on a metal toilet, shelf toilet, big holed toilet, or a squat toilet now. There are a few toilet brands I really find joy upon. Koehler toilets are my favorite toilet brand. Usually in themeparks I see them, and I like how the toilet holes look. I like toilets that hang on the wall. I am most likely to be scared of gas station bathrooms.

Yeah lol I used to never flush the toilet at my school because I wanted to get the hell outta there! They replaced the toilets now so I don't have to look at the pipes (yup that's my phobia) and I can successfully use the toilet again And I can't use my downstairs toilet because I'm scared of it. And I can't use some of my family's toilets too! I hate this phobia

Not being able to go to a toilet when you want (anxiety makes me)

I don't have a problem going number one, because I'm standing up. I used to not have a problem going number two, but now I'm worried that if I sit on the toilet, my clothes are contaminated and afterwards, I wash my hands and arms.

I'm only scared of a unisex toilet and My Reason For This is *·* having to go by myself in there *·* having to be 5 feet away from it *·* the toilet flushing loud *·* how the flush looks like *·* scared of urinating in there *·* scared of defecating in there

Not just public toilets for me, even going at home, I hate people noticing, the bathroom is above the kitchen/dining room and you can hear everything, so people have to stay up in the living room away from the bathroom or my body just shuts down even when I try. I've had a growing up of people mocking and making jokes of going to the toilet so it gives me anxiety as I just know people notice. So I try to hide it as much as I can, peeing is easier, but everyone has to be out of the house literally for n2, and that isn't very often😣 worse too as we only have one toilet in our house

@@mariatromans7137 You are not silly. My phobia is the exact same phobia of Mannquins or phobia of statues. If it acts in any way strange my fear makes me think the thing is alive and doing this on purpose with intent

Toilet phobia for me was really bad when I was a child. And it still kicks in a bit depending on the look of the toilet, or because of how the hole looks and if the bowl has alot of water in it. Worse when the blue water be in it as well. Ill simply have a change of thought and wait for the toilets Im used to. Also when I was a kid when I take a dump. I would lean over like I was doing yoga in fear of darkness of the toilet between the gap of my legs. Yeah I hate toilet phobia

It’s just gross to think of all the bodily fluids and smells associated with any restroom yuck 🤢

I can totally relate! I'm exactly like you...

I had things happen to me as a child and sort of attached my issues to going to the toilet. Some of my family taunt me for this problem which makes it all the more worse, It rules my life I can’t go when anyone is near the toilet which is hard as it’s next to 3 peoples bedrooms and sometimes I don’t go for weeks. I just wish I was normal

I used to be able to go up to 2 whole days of not going to the bathroom when I was 14, on the third day I'd go in the shower and that would be my shower day, I'd just take a shower after that. I'm now 15 and trying to use it at least twice a day, in the morning and at night. But its hard when I just feel really gross after like I feel I had an accident, or I got pee on my pants. I always end up having to wipe everything, the toilet both before and after I use it and my pants. I'm also just afraid of touching the toilet and I never, unless absolutely necessary, use public bathrooms. I'm left feeling afraid for my health and I don't know what to do. Would this be considered toilet phobia or as I've just come to label it as excessive germaphobia?

I have this problem due to trauma thanks to my mom when i was a kid. I suffered from constipation as a kid and she never had the patience for me... So i would have accidents in my pants and not go to the toilet because it was very scary to me. I am now 28 years old and i have very little toilet phobia. I don't have those accidents though but if i go to a public restroom i do have a little phobia.

I'm scared of my home toilet and I don't like when I'm in the dark and I don't have windows and I am scared like what if the light gos away and I hear the fan and ventilation sucking air out. It's like someone is behind me making sounds when I'm in the dark in the toilet. That is one of my problems with vent and fan toilet. When I hear the ventilation pipe pushing the air in and out,I get a pannic attack to this humming sound. I just wish I had a normal life and consantriate on study's but I can't because of something I really focused on. The toilet light was gone and I'm in the dark myself and I am scared to here the vent for the heart attack of my life. That is one of my problem.😔😖🙁😟😨😱😢

i have it too and i can ONLY use the toilet in my house. so i know how hard it is but not urinating in a whole week is extremely dangerous for you and may be fatal. please get support, go to therapy. stay safe.

I’m afraid of braking or flooding a toilet

Hii, my 6 year old girl child is suffering from toilet phobia in school, she always comes with a complaint of abnormal urinating and potty ...i m fed up of all this please suggest something worthy

I've been afraid of toilets since I was a child, and have always felt like I was weird...didn't think others would have this issue. I think mine developed as a result of CSA trauma, but I'm also neurodivergent and have associated OCD from that so it's become part of my OCD as well. For me, it's just a very generalized "threatening" feeling whenever I'm near a toilet, but it can also impact the entire bathroom unless I clean it very stringently. No matter how clean the bathroom or toilet is, I can't bring myself to actually use it like a normal person, and it sucks. I worry that one day, I'll be elderly and senile or have dementia and that caregivers will not understand my fear and make me use it "normally".

I had toilet anxiety when I was little and now, at 13 yrs old, it came back to me. I only feel comfortable with the toilets at my home. I don’t sit on toilets - never, I stand in a 90 degree stand above ‘em. It’s not because I, scared of the germs, it’s because I’m scared of the toilet. I’m scared of flush sounds and just overall sounds. Also scared of some flush buttons. I can’t see a toilet flushing, I have to close the lid and if there isn’t one I won’t go. I always hated how when the cistern is almost done filling up, it's ominously quiet and sounds quite spooky! Plus you'd expect a jumpscare afterwards! I have the same Issue. I have been suffering from this for Years! I have been hiding it and I still Cry and Stress over this alot. I can't Deal with Toilets at all. Not even my own. I have a hard time Cleaning my own Bathroom and I Start Freaking out Really bad. I use my Foot to flush and I run out the Bathroom so the water don't Splash. My sister has the same Problem. I have anxiety Very bad, because I can't touch a Toilet, Sink or the Tub. It's a Scary Serious Problem that Is Controling me. I Need some Help. I'm Tired of Crying and Stressing.

Those old black seated public toilets with high cisterns, I used to stand outside trying to get the courage to go in before I wet myself !!!

My 4.5 year old son is also suffering from toilet phobia which z extremely alarming for us as he cannot even go to school and z always afraid of going to toilet for poop

Im scared of electric toilets, and i always put paper in my toilet because what if a snake or a rat comes

I get extremely worried just to walk out of my house because I then think I’m fat from a toilet and won’t be able to hold it in 😶

I can’t even sit on my own toilet I have to squat and if I’m somewhere I have to wait till I get home

Toilet phobia includes only public toilet? Em scared of using any of the toilet, a thought rush in my minf that toilet is a dirty place, so it causes me very trouble when i need to go to toilet... 😭

My phobia is dirty toilets even if it’s new I have to clean it off I never been those types to get hung ober throw up n touch the toilet seat ! I hate that I never been that type of person I can’t touch it bare but I will clean the hell out of a toilet clean or not and I can’t use the restroom unless water is running

My parents won't get me help for mine. They think it's funny. I'm scared to use #2 in public cause I'm scared of being rushed or someone hearing me. I never got out anymore😟😟. When Im out I get light headed and my tummy aches,I get chills, and my breath get shakey. My dream is to over come it I just don't know how😕😕☹️

I'm so scared of bathrooms and every time I flush I cover my ears and I'm eleven and I still beg my mom to come in with me (not at home though)

I have toilet phobia :c and im only 8yrs old im scared of toilet because darkness, some kind of creature might come into me, spiders in the corners and hearing strange noises from the toilet. :V

i wish i was normal. Im not scared to go to the toilet. Im only scared because I have fissure. The pain hurts so much that it keeps me away from using the loo

I just get scared of the flush and run away lol

i have a fear of clogged toilets cuz of the bowl filling up with water and i get scared and run away to let my dad unclog it for me

I'm scared to don't be able to go to the bath everyday at the same hour. If I don't go to the bath I will be paralyzed by thinking about the fact I wasn't able to go there all the day

I fear toilets not only because of flushing sounds but also because of the hole that leads to sewers and etc. I just imagine of something coming out of the toilet while im using it or like when i flush i fear of the flush thinking its gonna suck me in the toilet and yes ik thats dumb but its just my body that fears it

Have you ever spoken to someone about this before?

I’m scared of the high water level ie American toilets with the high water, they way it flushes ie if it’s a sensor flush, if the base is detached, the systen for example I don’t like the ones high up like the Victorian ones, and kind of toilet seat. Don’t mind me just watching these videos to try to help cure my phobia of these toilets…why does the water have to be so high and there be a sensor on them. Not kidding about the phobia, when I was younger I was at great ormand street hospital and they where trying to cure me from it by putting stones in the toilet, flushing it and barricading the door so not as to let me out (this was in 1999 so hopefully they don’t treat people with phobias like that now) I’m almost 27 and still petrified of the particular ones I listed. With the sensor flush I’m worried it will flush if I use it (has happened to me one in America, sat on that evil toilet for over an hour trying to go, jumping every time someone flushed). Honestly if I see a toilet with high water I will bolt out that bathroom not looking back, I would much rather use a bush than to use one of them. I went 14 hours without going once because I didn’t like the aeroplane toilet or the toilet at the airport. I use a technique called girls names, you start from A and have to think of 3 girls names beginning with that letter, and if you have someone with you the letter B would be their turn, again 3 names beginning with B.

I have a fear of the bathroom because I am things will happen so I avoid the toilet completely

Am I the only one who makes a catch net or a bed of toilet paper to prevent the _splash?_

I get scared because i think a snake , a mouse or a spider will come out of the water while i am pooping , and that is possible
