I love this. So much nostalgia in my parent's unfinished basement with a jury rigged 286 at like 30mhz I think.....(it was 30 years ago) and a graphics card that was about two feet long. And a 20ish mb hard drive that got upgraded to 100mb at some point.

Say the word... I was stuck for weeks on this part.

I miss these games. I'm so glad for these catch-ups! I can relive playing them without the frustration of playing these hybrid text-graphic typing games!

You can also distract the guard at the launchpad by throwing a rock into the bush to get him to come and investigate.

And you can also just walk up to the elevator when he isn't looking and use the keycard. But I think all of those options kinda fall under the same "Metal Gear Solid" stealth method, just slight variances.

Loving these and looking forward to the SQ3 version as that was my favorite. Excited!

This game makes some of the best use of low resolution limited color palate graphics. I love the art design here and I actually feel like the later VGA games lose a bit of the charm the earlier games had because of the art style working around the hardware limitations.

Only doing the 6 official games, but I do mention the fan games at the end of the 6th one.

When I beat the game back in the day I never knew when to use the jockstrap.

Really? He scared the crap out of me as a kid! And as an adult I learned it's even more cruel, as he's not actually chasing you around the maze; he stays in a single spot... which apparently kid-me just kept running into.

Anyone knows how to get inside the tunnel when you go to clean the ship, i remember on 1th ver you could glitch into it and walk around inside the tunnel.

You can sometimes boundary break and get outside the walkable areas, but I don't know how to do it reliably... unless you use the debug commands to teleport into the room. Your character doesn't change position when you teleport, so if you're standing outside the walkable area of the room you're teleporting into, you'll be able to walk around the outside of the confines.

Thanks! I just picked it 'cos it has that chirpy bird-like sound at the start, and it's quite long, so I wouldn't have to have to crossfade between several tracks. :P

In my opinion, Space Quest II was the weakest of the "great" games, although it's not not saying much, as it's still excellent! The cliffhanger is one of Sierra's most admirable endings to any Sierra game, and the new Forest setting of Labion was such a cool planet! Although I felt Kerona somehow was a little more charming, and the Sarien base was a little easier to get through than Vohaul's base. But it's still great!

In some ways, SQ2 was a bit "more of the same" of SQ1... but the leaps in graphics and writing make it, in my opinion, a bit underrated in the series.

I played through the Amiga version the other day and got kissed by the alien, but I didn't birth a smaller alien. I was able to finish the game.

That's weird! In the game code there is NO WAY you should be able to finish it with the alien inside you. It's not even on a timer; iirc, it's on a trigger when you cross a number of pre-defined thresholds at the end of the game. So something must have broken in your game. 😂

If you stop in at the bathroom and use the cubicle, you get rid of the alien inside you and can carry on as normal.

I was 8 or 9 years old when I first played Space Quest II, and my buddy and I solved it by printing out a walkthrough on a dot matrix printer and going through it step by step. We didn't speak very good English at the time.
