Everything You Need to Know About Rosé

Ойын-сауық

Let’s face it, wine can be confusing. It doesn’t have to be this way. Delicious booze should be understood and appreciated by all. Patrick Cappiello, the award-winning wine director at Rebelle in New York City, completely agrees. So he is going to break down the basics of the most common wine varietals you’ll find in a store or at a restaurant. This week, he breaks down rosé, explaining the qualities of the grape, regions where it grows best, proper glassware, what a good one will look, smell and taste like, food pairings and other varietals to try if you find you like rosé.

I like this guy - he's enthusiastic, precise in his descriptions and varietal characteristics, not too serious and seems like someone I'd love to share a bottle with and pick his brain for knowledge - he's real

I appreciate this so much. For several years I was under the impression that rosé was just sweetened, watered down red wine. Glad I was wrong. I'll have to give more rosés a chance! :)

Need more contents with Patrick and Wine/Spirits! When are they coming? Maybe you guys should do an episode where Patrick teaches people how to pick wine in a store, without consulting the staffs, like how to pick wine with only info given is the region and the label, what to look for on the label.

Was looking forward to hearing about aging rosé. How do I know my rosé is age worthy? I assumed barrel fermented ones could. But what if it doesn’t specify oak use? How long can you age? Will it still bear fruit? I found the “complex” rosé drink better at about 12 degree Celsius instead of beer cold. Please make another rosé video but go deeper for us industry people. Thanks. Summer is a month away in NZ and I’m determined to do a rosé self study. 😊

Recently I had a mind blowing rosé garnacha from the Canary Islands. It was clean and fresh, with a nice acidity and an out of this world intense raspberry nose.

When in Portugal last summer we had a traditionally prepared Crab dish which the restauranteur recommended Mateus as the wine to accompany it. It turn out to be a great match, any thoughts on Portuguese or Spanish Rose´s ???

I've tried a number or rose' wines and so far the best have been Rose d'Anjou, which to me has slight taste of strawberry and Tavel, which I thought was very delicious and balanced. The others seem to be pretty nondescript.

I should add that I really enjoy many kinds and styles of wine, red, white, fortified, etc, just not too impressed with rose' (so far).

Production of rose has grown as a % compared with whites and reds. Now I do not limit rose by season or by food. I am rather fond of rose and lamb as well as any white meat or fish (salmon for example with multi-coloured vegetables)). Alas it cannot really be used to make a sauce as the rose colour doesn't seem to transfer to the sauce. Thanks for doing the video.

Great video guys. Rosé deserves its due acknowledgement. But please, the constant, annoying, highly distracting annotations ruin the experience. You may think they’re improving your marketing but really it’s just lowering retention and chasing away repeat viewers.
