He was making this show, trauma be damned, for the money. Like that's fair, he can do what he wants. If he decides to capitalise on his trauma that's his business but let's call a spade a spade.
I have tears in my eyes. We know how much conversation there’s to be had around SA as women, but it’s so very rarely talked about SA happening to men and my heart breaks & is also so immensely proud of Richard for being a voice for men having experienced this in his show. I had no idea him in the show was the creator let alone also the one that experienced it. I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been, possibly triggering. He’s done something incredible, giving a voice to these men who experienced SA. Showing the stigma also around the “why did you wait so long to report it”. All the respect to him. ❤️🔥

Emmy worthy.
It is a good series but why won't he name his abuser, made it easy enough to find her so why not him, he could have probably abused countless others in the time since it happened to him, possibly even to younger boys. I get it's a dramatisation of true events but if the abuse was as bad as potrayed or worse surely you wouldn't want the same to happen to to others. I have my own experience of abuse so I'm not just surmising here. Richard Osman says that everybody within the comedy circle knows who he is but Gadd has the personal experience & knows it to be true. It's kind of similar to how Saville was protected for years and allowed to continue to abuse!!

Richard Gadd was getting on my nerves too in the film tbh. A lot of his trials could've been avoided by him standing up for himself WHICH is precisely why it is so important to instill self confidence in your children. He seemed to be a broken man before the abuse started and I'm glad he's getting the help he needs now. And I loved how he was able to feel the relief of finally being honest about what was going on with him... part of the reason Martha was able harass him, by threatening to tell his secrets. As for "Martha" there is little rehabilitation for a vindictive psycho or sociopath. Even if she did not go to jail (which seems to be the point she harps on) she is overall that person and proved it on her little hobo tour of threats and goal post moving.

why would there be sequels. it's not a fictional story that can go on forever
This series was so incredibly well done. And I know there’s been a lot of question about how “true“ the whole story is but even if it’s just 60% real that’s terrifying enough
I wasn't sure about this when i first put it on.....but i was hooked after the first episode and watched it all in one night. I thought it went abit awry with the drugs and assult!! But its his story and i felt for him and his situation. ❤
Fame hungry--which he himself admits--and did precious little to hide the identity of people who gave no consent to be swatted.
The real Martha has come out and revealed herself. She is STILL stalking him in that way, can you believe the audacity of her? Wouldn't you hide in shame if you were her? Apparently not!

And feminist man haters are still denying it and victim blaming the man for being groomed & stalked by a woman. It really is disgusting.

She’s delusional- no self awareness
I don’t think she could have done a better job of convincing everyone she is Martha… 😂 Absolutely bang to rights.
Honestly, watching the show and seeing her personality I wondered if something like this might happen. But all she proved by doing that interview is that she definitely did it. But the more nuanced point that I think a lot of people missed is that Gad blames himself too, he claims he had a lot of problems too and there were things he should have done to stop it /not show interest but he didn’t cause he was insecure and had his own mental health struggles. There is no 100% blame as he knows he wasn’t totally innocent in what went down either.. I don’t think people understand that. The show is meant to show the complexity of it cause it’s shown that the women is very mentally unwell and delusional.
Weird how they say she stalked him after he lead her on over and over and over even after having a restraining order put on her he still lead her on again and again. Dudes a melt of a man
Why is Everyone obsessed with the stalker ( a mentally unstable woman who accepted kindness from someone and ended up infatuated) Yet no attention being payed to the serious sexual drug infused assault by the guy?? And why Gadd kept going back for more? Everyone looking for the deranged real stalker but no one is looking for his high profile rapist guy?? Fucking weird world we live in - be kind ❤
Get it right mate it was 41000 emails not text messages Sort your research out
I quite literally sobbed on the last episode. We don’t often see shows that highlight abuse that men face and wow.

He's so brave and although it's not exactly what happened it is really good and I found everything appreciate. It shows the victim in many lights. We should never blame you a victim but you can see the mentality that allows victim hood. He wants me wants the attention and the comedy work from his stalker and his rapist and his mind keeps hoping even though the actions tell the opposite

What in the show didn’t happen?
Incredible acting by both leads❤❤
Why is no one talking about Darien
Started watching last night. Did 4 episodes in one go! Can't wait to see the rest
Jessica Gunning was amazing as Martha
Moral of the story, don't offer seemingly "lonely" strangers free drinks 🤣
I don't agree that it was because of a "simple act of kindness ". It was because of a lack of boundaries. It's important to be aware of this, because many of us could benefit from having stronger boundaries.

So well written . Shocked at how dark it got . Its more about the sexual assault than his stalker . Makes you think about it days after you watch it .
I watched the first 4 episodes, and later in the day, I watched the last 3. So much talk about the stalker involved, but by episode 4 is when you find out the real truth for his story. To say it blew me away was an understatement. This was a compelling and tough true story to share but deserves to win awards.
Richard seems very manipulative, and he seems to actively engage in all of these relationships as a sort of ftish.

@@ncorp2668 idc about the proof , but it seems that she is very capable of doing those things. She was accused of stalking in the past. And her personality in the interview is also very similar to that of the show. According to her she only met richard 2 or 3 times, and to portray someone's personality with this accuracy by only meeting 2 or 3 times seems suspicious.

The only thing that annoys me is the fact that he didn't expose who the seal abuser is, he must be doing the same until now to other guys. 😢

The line where he says he couldn’t love anyone because he loved hating himself more really resonated with me.
Well, what *can* one really add to the conversation after pretty much everything that *can* be said about this superb drama series has been stated clearly and fully already? First of all, I had not expected a true story, let alone all the myriad twists and turns the story ultimately took. But in short, WOW! Talk about pushing ALL the emotional buttons. As dark as the story gets, I had not anticipated *at all* just where the story was going to lead. Superb casting all round, and superbly acted. Finally, kudos to Richard Gadd - I dare say it was a catharsis of sorts, mining and reliving painful emotional trauma first-hand, let alone spinning it out into what has undoubtedly already established itself as something of a high-water mark in dramatic creativity. Hats off to ya, squire!
