    Mike, the aluminum wont rust but it will corrode over time. Polishing it up from time to time will usually keep it looking good long-term.

    That why Id go with zip ties instead of gluing the mesh directly to the back of the grill. You epoxy/glue the tie brackets to the back of the grill. Just cut the ties and replace the mesh and re-tie. Had diamond shaped and after a few years decided to change to octagon and ties made it really easy.

    You couldn’t click in the tab though with the grill over it. It would cause it to protrude out too much obviously.

  • @customcargrills

    @customcargrills

    7 жыл бұрын

    Sometimes that's possible and sometimes it's not. It usually depends if the factory grill has multiple layers behind the front shell or depends on how far away the openings are. In the case of this F-150, the main center openings are clustered close together which is good for doing a one sheet install but the sides are a bit further out that I would prefer. An additional challenge with doing a one sheet installation is finding a way to keep the center area flush up against the back of the factory grill. It could have been done with the F-150 in this video but I felt like the multi-piece approach was a better fit for the project. Here are some videos where I did a one sheet installation that you might like: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKSZlrigmNrHc6Q.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z3-Op9ulfsywiKw.html

    It might be quicker but it likely would not hold on very well.

    AKBuilder762 hot glue that I use doesn't get rock hard but a soft hard. I also see that they make different types of hot glues.

    The easiest way to accomplish this is to just convince yourself that the factory grill is good as it is and stick with it. No assembly or parts needed. :-)

    He should be mindful of making each piece match its counterpart... from left to right the mesh is offset about a quarter inch or more. Sloppy work...

    This is one of the earliest videos I made, from several years ago. Over the years, I've made a lot of progress with the way that I cut and install the mesh; including symmetry of the mesh and lining it up correctly. You should check out some of the newer videos I've made =)

    Such a big stupid project that wont hold up the long run and will never be cleaned properly...just should have sent the plastic grill mesh pieces to be hydro chrome dipped. This DIY is nonsense.

    What if I told you that today, March 23rd, 2020, the grille looks about the same as it did when I made the video 2069 days ago? I can make a follow-up video if people think the install is trash, can't be cleaned, and will never hold up because it's still perfectly fine today as it was then.
