No, I do not think so, you would be much better staying in Cocoa, Titusville, New Smyrna, or Daytona in this area than Port Canaveral if not taking a cruise. This really is a working port.
You can book that Holiday Inn Club Vacation Resort on some of the reseller sites. But yeah in some serious demand. I got lucky.

It is a shame that such a close hotel to Terminal 3 does not have a park and cruise package that I have found so far. Would be nice to just walk across the street to cruise.

Anyone stay at Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach?
Hi! This was good to know about the different hotels on Port Canaveral. I will be sailing in August on Carnival Freedom and staying at Country Inn & Suites before hand. I was wondering after my cruise I have so much time to kill before I head to amtrak. Went to AAA and she told me it's better to stay at Port Canaveral and hang around there then going to downtown Orlando (I won't have a car). Are there places to walk around & just look close by the Port? Also I saw some restaurants are they within walking distance from the Port? Wish I could ditch my suitcase while walking but I might ask Country Inn & Suites if they can watch it/hold it. Thanks

Unfortunately it all depends on which dock the Freedom is using that day. If you are at terminal 3, you will be 1 mile from the restaurant area, but right next to jetty park pier. They do charge 15 to get in though, but it is beautiful. If they dock at terminals 5 or 8, there is nothing nearby and you would have to take a cab to anything. If you do take a cab though, the exploration tower area is great for hanging out.

Terminal 1 is right next to everything, but royal carribbean usually docks there.

10:29p I booked the LaQuinta in Jan ‘23 for Carnival. Would this hotel be close to the airport or the cruise terminal?

Hi Kevin, which La Quinta? There are about six between the airport and the hotel. Closest to Port La Quinta would be 1 Hendry Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931, but that is still 5 miles from the cruise terminal. Mco airport is unfortunately 45 miles from the cruise terminal.
Restaurants by homewood suites?

There is a Burger King, pizza, and McDonald's within walking distance, but check out my reviews of fish lips and grills which is waterfront and only about half a mile away. Very good.
