The creators of the Fimir didn't really intend for the Fimir to rape human captives they would be impregnated by some magical means. Still bad enough though.

too bad the creators made that tie-in to raping human women that caused the line of creatures to get shut down. that vibe & mentality is totally 60s b-movie. and as a trope its just so tired and worn-out, too. not to mention offensive. i mean, how many monsters and creatures do you hear about that just rape human men? probably only the alien greys, right. even though the aliens from Alien, as well as John Carpenter's The Thing, can use any human for a reproductive host without gender, race, or age discrimination. though we probably wouldn't want to start a new race of monsters that only targets children (such as the Boogeyman) -- although i think eating children is probably more politically correct than raping them? either way, there's going to be letter writing and screaming parents. but all that is beside the point. when we've got such amazing science going on with Discovery and the Nature Channel and PBS i'm sure creators of new races can come up with far more interesting ecologies for their monsters if they just use biology as their inspiration. there's no need to pick on women or on kids.

there's no way i would ever have been able to pick this fascinating creature on the Tabletop Monsters series -- because i'd never heard of it. and i LOVE that. so i'm not going to offer suggestions or advice. you've got great instincts and i trust your own interior inspiration to find the weird, bizarre, and fascinating tabletop monsters out there, and then bring them to us with your own naturalistic and scientific spin. game on, man!

Quick point, the Fimir DO abduct women for mating purposes. But I'd like to point out that life as a peasant in Bretonnia, the Empire etc is a short, dangerous one. Women are allowed to walk freely and are even given an armed escort at all times so getting ate by a Beastman while picking berries isn't really a concern. Some women have even been known to actively seek out the Fimir as the women living with the Fimir are well fed, well protected, and are generally treated better than they are in the rest of the world. They would have to be, to remain in close proximity and to carry the child to full term healthily. The Fimir know they can't exactly threaten the women - they need them - so they treat the women more decently than in say, Bretonnia where you literally do not have rights if you are not a man, or in the Empire where women kind of have small roles and many are probably robbed, mugged, killed or worse in the poorly monitored cities and forest of the Empire. The women could easily kill themselves or force a miscarriage even if it meant their death, but I think it says something that many choose to stay.Honestly? I like that. It's so dark grey. Like, it's fucked but so is the rest of the world, and that little silver blip makes it all the more unique. How shitty must your life be that living as cattle like a Skaven brood mother (only treated better and with actual rights) is the better alternative to living your lot in life? I mean, this is a world in which people worship plagues that strip flesh from bone, in which a god of excess exists whose entire cult is built around sadism and lust and overindulgence and if you all really think that some Slanneshi dudes or the Norscans never raped anyone then idk. That's kind of their MO, really. I attribute the failure of the Fimir to the size miscast (sized like an ogre but performed like a human soldier, so not worth the money or effort)When those behind the Fimir offered to rework the Fimir GW said just to let it be. They've never been shy about retconning so they could have easily changed the lore. I mean Dark Elves used to literally be Chaos worshippers but now they fight Chaos and belong to the Order alliance, so. Yeah. But anyway, the reason I like it is because it shows how many scars the Fimir have and how they're slowly dying as a result. They used to be the preferred race of the Chaos Gods until men came into prominence, and when this happened the Fimir became desperate for the favor of even lesser daemons. Are their women infertile because they made a desperate pact to earn favor that had repercussions to this day? Did they launch a raid against the hub of Chaos tribes in a desperate attempt to earn the favor of the gods only to piss said gods off, cursing them to a slow, dwindling demise? Did the Fimir themselves experiment too much with magic, cursing all of their females - the strongest casters - to be infertile in an attempt to channel their now distant gods? That adds so much to the flavor to me. You have races that are "dying" like the high elves and dwarfs but the Fimir are *dying*. Their clans are falling apart and if no Meargh is borne they literally just wander and fight until they die or are absorbed by a larger clan. Many races don't even know of their existence and even races that pride themselves on long lifespans and good record keeping such as the high elves don't even know who the Fimir are anymore. That's how hard the Fimir have fallen. And that idea of a dwindling, long forgotten race that is on the verge of extinction and their members are aimless, its kind of sad. Its also reminiscent of the Skeksis from Dark Crystal, where there was like 12 left of the entire race and they got into a power struggle. I think that's a lot more fascinating than "Dwarfs but racist" and "elves but even more snobby" and "elves but sadistic rapist murderers who are sanctioned by their government to be sadistic rapist murderers."Okay, the last one is ok haha.I like the Fimir because it makes it feel like the world had history and their the last members of a race that used to be proud and powerful but is now less than a blip on the radar. They used to be strong enough to face the Skaven and Elves in open battle but are now basically completely forgotten except in the local areas that they prowl. Thanks for anyone who read this. Of course, I'm not condoning rape or assault of any kind, but this is a VERY dark universe and I think the Fimir are certainly not the worst offenders in Warhammer. Again, I blame the sculpts.Moving on, though, OP what are your thoughts on the Skaven? I think a video on them would be cool. Same with the Lizardmen from Warhammer.

Thank you for the insight! Is this all of the actual lore? I agree, the dark eldar or chaos are far more brutal than the Fimir. If this is the only video you posted this under, than I am impressed. Know that usually such lengthy posts are ignored and forgotten.. like the Fimir? But I can't ignore such effort. Thanks again for that background, it was fascinating. Skaven and Lizardmen? You got it :)

I agree, they sound really cool to me and even if GW edited their lore to make their reproduction a little more family friendly I would like to see them back in Warhammer Fantasy, especially int heir original form. Even seeing them in another franchise would be great because they seem like they had a lot of potential.
