Everything You Need To Know About Coconuts - Coconut Milk, Oil, Sugar, Water, & More!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There are lots of coconut products at the grocery store, so I wanted to review all of the options. Lots of people ask me about coconut milk from the can versus from the carton, and there is a big difference. There's a couple different types of coconut oil, with cold pressed being my favorite. Coconut sugar is a fantastic low glycemic sweetener that has a really nice caramel flavor. Coconuts are a healthy saturated fat loaded with MCT's and lauric acid, so hopefully you try out some of these products yourself. Mad love..Bobby, Dessi, Rose, and Art! XOXO

Hi , I am from kerala,India (kerala means land of 🌴 coconut trees). In my house in kerala we have coconut trees so we have fresh coconut every time and always have a stock of homemade oil. From my childhood onwards I am hearing that coconut is not good for health but now people saying coconut is good and seeing coconut based products in USA stores I feel really proud , at last our coconut got recognition .

I love coconut water especially the ones I tried in Puerto Rico. Opening a fresh coconut that was previously in the fridge was sooo good. Any coconut water I’ve tried from the States pale in comparison even the whole coconut ones.

I used to eat coconut (and the juice inside) when I was in Hong Kong. I think the flesh is delicious with little sweetness. Coconut oil has its unique aroma but I never thought it has a lot of benefits. Don't worry about sat fat because it can be fully dissolved in the mouth with just saliva. The magic hasn't stopped there. It can even help dementia because it has MCT which can be converted to ketones in liver which your brain loves it

Rachel I Hi, thx for commenting. For me, here’s a “basic rundown” on what happens if I eat foods, or even take medication that uses these as “binders/fillers”...(w/o going into more detail or personal medical history/experiences.....just giving “tiny recap”) What happens when I “eat” anything w/ xanthum gum & guar gum, horrible intense stomach pains, breakout in hives (which also hinders my breathing), as well as, horrible migraines, & diarrhea etc....issues. I also ended up getting an intestinal blockage from eating too much guar gum once, which required surgery to “fix”. Not a fun day, needless to say when end up eating stuff that has the ingredients; & the symptoms can last for days/weeks. These “items” are considered & registered w/ the FDA as “GRAS”: Generally Recognized As Safe. For most ppl I’d say that’s probably true, since artificial sugars, sugar alcohols, & substances as Guar Gum, Xanthun Gum are used in a LOT of FOODS, MEDICINES, etc.... I just have “other” medical issues that compounds the affects on my health. Hope this helped you..... Cheers ✌🏼

@@Aepek Hi, I have all kinds of food allergies. I always had the dairy and citrus and nut allergies. But in the last 30 years I have developed so many more. I told my Dr that I think it is from all the additives they are putting in our food. I did eat most nuts growing up, and until about 20 years ago. But all these other new ones popping up. It is absolutely insane. And tons of people are getting all kinds of the same allergies.

Bobby, do you ever research the environmental impact of these products? I have friends who believe that coconut sugar is better for them than other sweeteners. Coconut sugar may have special flavor, but all sugar is CARBs. Also, coconut is very high in saturated fat! Many healthy people are perhaps not affected, but I’m sure a number are. After reading Michael Pollan’s “Omnivore’s Dilemma” (HIGHLY recommend!!), I’m concerned about consuming large amounts of manufactured foods from the other side of the planet. The petroleum used to get it to the Mid Atlantic area is a lot! Coconut water in a single use plastic bottle??? Come ON people! Finally, when I was a kid, we bought intact coconuts, complete with brown shell, from the grocery store, smashed them open with a hammer & enjoyed the milk and meat as a special treat. So much energy and plastic is used to bring us all these products.

Also heard you can make from coconut cream, but don't know the ratios. Yes, I've had coconut water from a coconut, but not from a store--roadside stand in Key West. Quite a lot better than from a bottle.

Dace, with autoimmunity I was unable to hold or gain weight until I started eating Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers (Bobby Approved) and King Soba Black Rice Ramen noodles or their black rice spaghetti on occasion. Those and eating almost constantly during the day have helped me slowly get back to the minimum side of my healthy weight range. I'm almost there. Just trying to eat more seeds, nuts, fats, avocados, meats etc didn't do the trick at all.

One year later... I love coconut. I grew up with them since we had 2 coconut tree in our yard . So I miss fresh coconut the most as an adult. You can survive with coconut if you are stuck in an island with it 😉

If you’re ever in Southern California you really should go to the Fermentation Farm. It’s a small store with delicious made in house fermented foods and other whole healthy eats. They also have a delicious little restaurant. Try their grass fed beef chili and homemade kombucha! They even offer how to classes.

I buy most of my coconut milk and creams from the Asian markets.. A few varieties are super clean and I find the quality is 100x better than these non-Asian brands. Have you ever tried any of the Asian brands?

I make my own coconut milk by blending 2 cups shredded coconut (untoasted & unsweetened) with 4 cups hot water together for a few minutes until smooth and creamy then strain it through a muslin square, squeeze the last drops out and decant into bottles, will last up to 4 days in the fridge, has more coconut in it and is 1/2 price of store bought (you can use the coconut butter that’s left for all sorts of things too
