Everything Wrong With Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse in 20 Minutes or Less

Фильм және анимация

Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse is a sequel to Into the Spiderverse, and it's just as good and maybe even better. Just don't expect it to give you any closure. But it does provide lots of sins!

    It's so cool that even Lord and Miller initially said the Spot was too silly to be the main villain. But then they thought about it and realized that it was the point of the character to not be taken seriously at first and then be a gradual threat. And it was executed brilliantly. He's one of my favorite villains of the year.

    I'd like to point out that technically, Mayday is a result of Miles getting bit as well, asbecause he helped help Peter B Parker get his head on straight, he hooked back up with Mary Jane and had Mayday when he got back to his own universe, something that did look like was going to happen anytime soon based upon what we saw of Peter B's life. This means she might be a few months or even years off when she should have been born in 'canon,' therefore it could be argued that she isn't a 'canon event' and is a disruption to the timeline because of the butterfly effect.

  • @roguishpaladin

    @roguishpaladin

    But Peter having kids with Mary Jane is, sadly, not a canon event. The main comic continuity saw them split up (and that, fwiw, is why I never want to see Mephisto in the MCU - even if No Way Home kinda did the same plot already but in a less traumatic, more sensible way). And there's now at least one timeline beyond this movie where Peter and MJ do work out. So there's no strict canon for that relationship beyond the fact that they tend to meet.

    10:54 Cause spider-sense warns about, you know, danger and threats. I doubt she considers Miles as either of those. That's why Venom is usually invisible to it, cause the symbiote spent so much time attached to Peter. 19:43 Of course he is. That's the only way they could figure out to make his design stand out from all the other Spiders - give him a pink bathrobe and a baby. He doesn't even wear his mask once. His daughter wears one more than he does.

    Not enough sins removed for the animation, the music, some of the humor, and the excellent action sequence involving Miles being chased by hundreds of Spider-Man variations. And I found that some of the sins presented here were whether explained by the film itself or are actually sticking points in the overall thesis behind "Miles shouldn't be Spider-Man."

    Didn’t Miguel find the technology to dimension-jump AFTER the events of the first movie? He had to set up the strike force IN RESPONSE to the Kingpin event? That’d explain Peter B having an established relationship with Miguel if Peter B is a consultant for this. Not to mention the rest of the gang. He could’ve excluded Gwen because he knew she’d be raring to get back to Miles if she knew she could go to his dimension. About them sending Gwen to 1610: my headcanon/theory is that it was a test or form of agreement that Jess made with Miguel. That basically if Gwen proved herself to be capable (which she must have and she is) then she can be shortlisted or considered eligible for a mission to 1610, should one pop up, especially since she has experience there. It would have been on the condition she doesn’t see him and that she can only go there for missions only (remember she’s stayed over at Hobies at least once) - but she saw Miles anyway. Why she came in her civilian clothes, I don’t know, probably under “fitting in” while she stakes out Spot without making a ruckus about another spider person being seen in Brooklyn. I can imagine Jess fighting with Miguel on it for ages and negotiating with him until he gives in and let’s her have ONE chance.

    I love this movie so much, but honestly the memes about it with regards to the rizz effect and the canon event stuff is purely awesome! Both movies have done a lot for memes and pop culture that I am really hoping the third movie continues the trend!🙏

    If every Spider-Man has specific canon events that must happen to them, why was Pavitr invited to join the Spider-Verse before his canon event of the authority figure dying? He was informed about all of the canon events before his had even happened.

    9:37 "The whole point of multiverses is that every possible thing that could happen does happen somewhere!" There are an infinite number of numbers between 1 and 2, but 3 is not one of them. Maybe Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen getting along is a 3. Maybe it's simply not possible.

    You should have added 50 sins for spider-women saying “I did but I got over it” to Gwen after Gwen asked her if she ever got to close to someone because she is married and pregnant also she said he’s so corny yet so hot meaning she clearly did not get over it

    She said her husband is corney and hot using present-tense. When she says she lost someone close to her, I don't think she was referring to her husband. She could have been referring to her universe's version of "uncle Ben" or police captain.

    2:54 Miguel didn’t have a strike team at this point. He only invented the watches immediately after the events of the first movie, hence the after credits scene of that movie.

    my current head canon is that most of the spider people don't REALLY believe in Miguel's way of doing things, "the good of the many outweighs the good of the few" is so not spiderman that i can't believe that that many follow it that heavily and that most of them in Miles's shoes would do the exact same. So while they may not have conscientiously "let" him escape they also weren't REALLY trying to catch him thus allowing him to escape
