Everything Wrong With Ralph Breaks the Internet

Фильм және анимация

The first Wreck It Ralph was a fun surprise full of humor and heart. Ralph Breaks the Internet is... not that. It's a lot more like The Emoji movie. And full of sins.
Next week: Sins of two movies that have one word titles starting with D.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

Disney just wants to have that cash. Do you think Frozen 2 came out because they wanted to make fans happy? I think it went like this. ,,What do we do to earn more?" ,,Hmmm... what about a whole new movie?" ,,Yeah. But that's risky. Maybe people would not like the trailer or something. They have no reason to see it, basically. What about a... sequel? What's our super popular movie that doesn't have a sequel?" And that's how it was made

Well if it's Disney owns everything the movie then I'm disappointed. Because why showing us this stupid friendship thing!? Ugh. Come on, where are my goddamn toys and shit. I wanted to see some more of Star Wars, like Kylo Ren and Rey. Vanellope should have gone straight to this franchise and she should have sang "let it go" (about Ralph's friendship) instead of her own song. And what's up with Slaughter Race? Huh, should have gone to Sonic's racing game. Where;s my man Mickey?! So disappointed. (In case you don't understand - it's sarcasm)

Why are so many disney movies these days about the characters being obsessively afraid to lose their friend/family members and then ultimately letting them go in the end? Frozen 2 was like this, too.

If they made Ralph as a overprotective father or something instead of a creepy obsessive dude who can’t stand the thought of Vanellope leaving for two seconds, then I think the movie would have played out better. I get that Ralph is worried about his first real friend abandoning him, other than Felix, but like he literally DESTROYED the internet out of his fear that she would leave him for a girl from a online racing game. The creators have just completely gave up when they realized whatever they make would sell anyway.

I literally feel like this movie’s plot was meant to be some kind of standalone movie (like Disney wanted to try to make a “better” Emoji movie but all about what they own), and they just decided to put it in the Ralph sequel for some reason. I mean, I was looking forward to their original planned sequel about how it would feature console gaming (and more video games in general) and more video game cameos (like Lara Croft or Sora, or hell, even Mario). But instead, we got this pandering, continuity-destroying mess. At least the Princess scenes were funny, I guess. XD

Ralph wanted to be a hero to get friends and not be alone. The first movie was alright. Each had issues to overcome. Second one made me hate Vanellope. Blames Ralph for the virus yes it's wrong BUT it was her fault for going Turbo and not even meeting him like she said she was. Makes him wait and finds out what she felt about him by her talking to a stranger that she just met. TELLS her about stuff she didn't even need to know. Turbo herself to another game when she doesn't realise she is the main person the players plays and also she was on the side of the game. Yep, the second movie was just another crap sequel like most sequels and also ended up making us hate the movie. The only reason I like it is the princesses and the Disney area with all the characters like star wars and stuff. Elsewhere nope. Btw I love how Ralph makes himself a doofus for money likes and Vanellope doesn't even do anything, doesn't even care he got the wheel.

@Elisa Castro ... Still, not game breaking. If you remember how the Racer roster is set up in the first Wreck it Ralph movie, Vanellope von Schweetz was not a playable racer because she could not win a certain race. But even now that she knows she is princess of Sugar Rush, there is no guarantee she is on the roster everyday, since the roster is determined by that nightly race before the arcade opens. Vanellope is only 1 of the 16 racers that might be featured on a 9 choice selection screen. If she happens to get 10th place or worse, then she actually would be unplayable for the entire day, and would certainly have an opportunity to chill in Slaughter Race.

Random thing I noticed was that in the first movie, Vanellope’s glitches really only happened whenever her current emotion changed. Whenever she was suddenly met with some bad news her glitching would become a tiny bit more frequent as she became confused, angry, sad, etc. all in a single second of processing that news. That is what I’m guessing this movie was doing as she glitched a noticeable lot at that one part, being scared or anxious is sometimes caused by waves of different emotions coming in all at once; so her glitching a bunch more when she’s worried actually makes a lot of sense.

  • @karma4859

    @karma4859

Exactly, was looking for this. A big part of her character growth in the first movie was even her learning to control the glitch rather than it being just involuntarily triggered by emotion. But we all know sometimes Jeremy wrongly sins things.

Not going to lie, but I absolutely LOVED the first Wreck-It Ralph. (It's actually my favorite Disney movie since I love anything related to gaming.) So I was excited/scared when I heard about the sequel. Excited because my favorite Disney movie is getting a sequel, and scared because my favorite Disney movie is getting a sequel and hoping that it doesn't suck. ...Unfortunately, I left the theater, thinking what the hell did I just watch? This movie had so much potential but it was ruined by Ralph possessiveness and Vanellope leaving her original game which contradicts with the first movie even if Shank really did program her code into the game. (Which I agree with CinemaSins, how the hell did game developers make an NPC so smart that she is able to code a video game character into a completely different game?) And the critics say that THIS is a worthy successor to the first film? Ha! I feel like they'd simply just read a synopsis of the first film and didn't even bother watching it.

Never make a movie that can't have a plot that can support 105 minutes. Or more/less, that's why Ralph 2 sucks, the plot, it's nothing, it's just memes but as a movie. The other thing is Vanellope is acting entirely selfishly here. No one calls her out on that. She abandons her game for Slaughter Race when they spent the last movie talking about how heinous it was to abandon your game. She says it's her calling, but she's only there for a day, and it doesn't make any sense that she can't just pop back into Sugar Rush. She's not an important figure in Slaughter Race, but she says, oh yeah, I can't come home to Sugar Rush much because Slaughter Race needs me. The moral doesn't make much sense, and while they throw a lot bad development on Ralph, no one calls out Vanellope's actions.

Also so many plot-holes Disney didn’t fill such as: If the virus survived slaughter race then how did KC even die in sugar rush? His code was in there. By the end, Ralph realizes the error of his ways and gives his friend that space, and both characters grow as a result. The important premise, as a kids movie, is that having friends grow up in a different way than you do and wanting different things from you isn’t a bad thing.

It was. That was the point. And children's film have always been creepy and talking about uncomfortable subject. It's not news. I mean have you seen tangled ? It's about an abusive mother. Hans from Frozen straight up tried to kill his girlfriend's sister. Riley from Inside Out is clearly depressed. Don't dismiss children's movies they're always kinda harsh. Children also need outlets to cope with what they're going through.

My one complaint of a sin that you missed was how they massacred wralphs character. He spent 30 years alone and outcasted and he didn't try to cling to anyone. He didn't constantly try to get people to like him. He disliked the situation but was fine with it. He wanted recognition for not being a bad guy he didn't care about having friends. And he wasn't really stupid, he was just kind of an Everyman moderate intelligence. In this he's a self righteous ouef who doesn't know anything

Missed sin: The inflated price of the eBay auction for the steering wheel. eBay bidding works where your bid is THE MOST you will pay. So if the "current bid" is $40 and you bid $35,000. It suddenly doesn't become $35,000. It will become 5-10 over the winning bid's MAX bid (and if it was 40, then the new bid is 45.) The only way it could actually drive up that high would be to have a bid war.

There's so many problems with this movie from the title to the characters to the story but honestly my main problem is that fact the message doesn't fit within the parameters of this universe. That message being 'you can't force your ideals on yours friends, sometimes you have to let them leave to let them grow and if your friendship is strong enough then it will survive' and the main problem with this is that it directly conflicts with the original message of the first film which if you remember is about going 'Turbo' which is essentially what Vannellope is doing here. She's leaving her game for a more popular game because she's bored which is literally what Turbo did which then leaves her game without its main racer and its ruler so Sugar Rush is probably going to be thrown out by the end of the week. My second problem is what I'm going to call the real world implications. Let's be honest here Sugar Rush and Slaughter Race probably aren't affiliated in anyway in the real world meaning that the company that owns Slaughter Race (let's just call it SL Race) if committing some serious copy-write infringement on the company that owns SU Race and meaning a giant legal battle is in the future here which would probably end up in the owners of SL Race deciding Vannellope isn't worth the hassle (and more likely cost) and deciding to delete her code from the game which would kill her forever, which means both SU Race and Vannellope are gone forever.

There are a lot of things in this movie that anger me so bad, for example: • Vanellope went turbo, and no one gave a sh*t about it • Ralph made stupid decisions for selfishness, while the first movie he did the same but with understandable reasons because he was frustated and didn't want to be the bad guy anymore, here his motivations are dumb and silly • Felix and his wife are completely forgotten • The side characters have charisma but they don't get the enough screentime to shine • The ideology and themes of the first one are forgotten, there were no consequences for Ralph or Vanellope for living the arcade for almost and ENTIRE DAY! • The virus is completely forgotten • The Vanellope musical sequences was enjoyable to watch but it felt so unfitting with the movie, specially when this is supposed to have placement in the real world inside the digital one • The disney cameo scene was so painfully and cringe to watch, and that includes the disney princesses introduction during this sequence and near the climax And I could still go and going, but I think that it is enough

@@ceiranallen-wright6310 I tried thinking that way, but it’s not a good standalone film either. Too many things don’t make sense on their own without some of the context from the first movie - particularly Ralph & Velenope’s friendship. The two being outcasts from their respective games was the core of their bond from the last film; both are well-liked now by the rest of the arcade in the second movie. Ralph going from “concerned friend helping out his best friend with her depression” to “clingy weirdo who doesn’t want ‘his’ girl hanging with anyone else” is beyond creepy even though the movie never really codes his feelings towards Velenope as romantic or fatherly. Venelope is a bored Disney princess looking for more out of her life-a trope that the film has her make fun of, then has her follow to a fault...and becomes a kid growing too big for her small town. She never cares that she broke her own game & dismisses her actions of abandoning them because of events misremembered from the first movie. It’s hard to see why people would ever have liked these two in this movie, were it not for a previous film that endeared Ralph & Velenope to folks in the first place.

Like two weeks of a single employee's wage paid for by over a year on a game. Edit: okay, just checked on a calculator. That's *54-55 cents per day*. That's 2-3 cents *an hour*. I'm 100% sure that an arcade game with flashing lights, sounds, screen and a variety of arcade machine features will most definitely use more than 2-3 cents an hour, even if it's only plugged in like 12 hours a day at max, that's definitely using more than that much electricity.

It was one part where I think Belle from Beauty and the Beast, had asked her about daddy issues or something. Vanellope said, she didn't even know her mom. When some of them said "neither do we" Elsa said it too. Elsa and Anna did know their mother and father their childhood. Also, when Ralph called to let her know that they made enough money, how was it muted when she can't hear him but he can. He didn't have her on mute, she had him

Honestly I have a guess as to why going "Turbo" isn't actually going "Turbo" on the internet. So, going turbo was defined as leaving your *arcade* game and going to a different one. That causes confusion from the people who play the arcade game, as they see another arcade game inside the wrong one, causing the game to shut down. Vanellope is in an arcade game, and goes to an internet game. There is no confusion that might cause the game to shut down here because Vanellope is an arcade game, and even if the arcade players did see her in the dangerous game, they could just think it was some sort of promotion for the arcade, and not a glitch like in the previous movie. Pls no kill me for writing a paragraph

While I appreciate the underlying message at the end of the film, they shouldn't have done it with these characters. It just doesn't work. The whole "letting your friends go to live their own lives" theme doesn't fit if they aren't allowed to leave their games. It's called going Turbo! The ENTIRE conflict of the first film! This movie just shouldn't exist tbh. It tainted the original just like I knew it would.

What bothered me about this movie it has nothing to do with what made the first movie so good and this movie came from Disney witch is usually good at making characters that go on adventures while still making it seem like the world around them don't notice! How would people not notice a character super off in a race game Penelope doesn't look anything like the other characters in that racing game also her missing from surger rush wouldn't go unnoticed her being printed outside of the acrcade machine also being the most played racer. This movie tried hard to bring a certain message about a certain topic that broke the magic of it's world created from the first one.

The "letting friends go to live their dreamheartsong whatever" thing doesn't work not just because of the Turbo thing but because Ralph is an old Donkey Kong man drooling over a little 9 year old girl. They're both wrong!

Pewdie Poo yeah but that actually made sense in toy story 4, bonnie didn’t play with woody and probably wouldn’t notice he wasn’t there, the entire point of the movie was that woody had fulfilled his purpose and now his only goal was to keep bonnie happy.

@Keiras Alley It is weird though as Bonnie picked up Woody in TS3 because she thought he was cool in first place, then all of sudden she doesn’t care about him. Maybe it was because she now had Jessie whose like Woody but a girl which appeals to her. They should’ve at least tried to explain it more than not at all. Really the bigger point of the movie is that Woody never got over Andy and *he* couldn’t accept being someone’s else toy anymore.

The premise of the first movie was literally about vanellope finding her place in sugar rush so I think the idea of her leaving it sucks and is out of character Tho both main characters are out of character most of the movie tbh
