Everything WRONG With My Auction Bought Challenge Stradale!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video, I take my newly purchased #Ferrari #360ChallengeStradale down to AV Engineering for a full inspection.
As I never expected to win the online auction for the car, I didn't know exactly what I had bought... until now...

I must say I really like to all episodes featuring AV as this man has a natural ease of communicating Ferrari related stuff.

With the amount you saved on buying it Sam, you can afford to restore it to equivalent ‘Ferrari Approved Used’ condition and still be ahead. Probably easier to buy a set of standard 360 alloys and get a set of standard sized winter tyres for those.

Is it really a shortage of winter tires in the UK? I suppose the CS has 225/35ZR19 - 285/35ZR19 dimensions - there are plenty of winter tire variants for those sizes from different manufacturers, the sizes are quite common. It is not like buying a winter 335/30 for example
@andrewhurstcars

What a nice guy and 1st-class Ferrari expert ALDOUS VOICE is. Every time you have taken your cars to him, I've thought the same thing. Your car is in safe hands at AV ENGINEERING… and great content too! Good luck.
I could listen to this guy for hours. Please get him on the Podcast!! It would be interesting to hear some stories. Congrats on the car!
I’d keep as close to stock as possible, I think the purity of that alone will help keep the value in the car. Although I don’t think anybody would mind the HiFi being updated.

A stock car will always be worth more but I very much doubt that Sam will ever sell it, so resale value shouldn't be more important than making it the perfect car for him imo.
Aldous is 'next level' when it comes to Ferrari service/repair. He's an engineer and thinks like one when it comes to these cars. Wish there was a guy like him where I live (across the pond). Great vid Sam ol' Boy, beauty of a CS.
Not too bad Sam, can't wait to see how it is running after some TLC. Great team over there at AV!
Congrats on the CS, Sam! Regarding the brakes, it's astonishing to me that Ferrari didn't develop the callipers more to guard against piston corrosion 😳 The guys at AV really are masters, fair play to them.

Love the AV episodes. Can't wait to see all the work to be done on it! Enjoy
Brilliant video and love to hear the level of expertise and integrity from your go to guy. Learned a lot. All in all, I think you did great and looking forward to you sharing your journey with us, Sam.
this is so good ! Love your execitement for "youngtimer" cars. They deserve it !
This was a really great review of the car with what needs to be done now and what can wait for a broader service! What you would hope to receive but of course not always what happens. Fun video!
Your enthusiasm is infectious, what a bloke!!!
Absolutely love these sort of videos, so fascinating. Chuffed for you to buy your dream car. Keep up the great work and brilliant Podcast 👏

Can’t wait to see it once done Sam. Your mechanic is a credit. Very impressed. Honesty and integrity in abundance 👌
Amazing video. So happy for you that you got your dream 360 Challenge Stradale
Congrats on the car Sam. Saw the previous but never said it. Can see your genuine excitement.
A great result and so pleased for you Sam in getting your dream car. Love your video’s and podcasts.
Not bad at all! Love the breakdown of the different issues! You must be very pleased Sam! Looking forward to the cost breakdown.
Your enthusiasm is infectious for sure!
Highly amused to see my car in the background at AV. Good luck with the CS, great to see someone so happy with their car!
Great video as usual Sam, these guys are brilliant. Glad you got a good one.
Loving the CS content Sam so glad u eventually bought one it really looks a great car
So much knowledge and modesty by the AV expert. Great video Sam, thanks for sharing all the intel. 😎
Great vlog Sam. Best motoring channel on YT. Thanks M8, cheers, John.
Fascinating episode! Love these little details
I was looking forward to this episode and I’m really glad you’ve got a good solid car 👍🏻
Good for you man. You got a car similar to mine as far as number of issues (I actually think mine had more) and mine had half the miles and I paid more. LOL. You did REALLY GOOD. You’re like me too with the CS, so I know you’ll literally get everything fixed and you will love that car for years to come. Enjoy!
If I had a Ferrari and lived anywhere near AV Engineering I would almost look forward to having them do the servicing and repairs it needed. The honesty, practicality, and attention to detail are what I love to see in a shop and they have that in abundance.
What a car. What a purchase. And you get to build a series on refreshing it which we can all enjoy watching and you’ll earn from / cover the repairs. Win. Win. Congrats
I’m just so glad I’ve never fixated on Ferraris and always considered they are better suited to posters than the road but always enjoy your enthusiasm for them and it will make for interesting content good luck with your ownership..
This man has a lot of knowledge, great to see this video thanks👍
I reckon you've come out well on top here Sam and you're being a bit hard on the car! You're man seemed happy with it and as you said the list given isn't serious and will allow you some time to plan the preventative maintenance and improvements with minimal critical items to sort in the short term. All in all I'd say a really good solid purchase and not forgetting a solid purchase of your dream car!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Congrats Sam. Been watching your videos for a long time and it’s great to see your success over that time. PS yes manual convert it. 😂
What a legend! Always enjoyable to learn with AV, kudos to them!
I went to Podium place Newbury this morning (14/1). They have a Ferrari 360 CS on the turntable, first time I've seen one up close for years. I can appreciate why Sam loves it so much.

We are all living vicariously through you Sam. This is brilliant.
Good to see it isn’t a lemon. Look forward to seeing the content with this Congrats on getting your dream car 👌
Decent inspection report IMO! Looking forward to the CS content coming our way!
Well done Sam on getting your dream car very pleased for you and seems that you have a good one that you can improve in time.
When you bought this car from CC, the condition was noted "This Challenge Stradale was checked over by Maranello last year with all noted items attended to and £10k spent, and the car has covered less than 200 miles since then. " .... how come there are so many issues on this car then ?
A dream come true Sam! On top of all the works I would add an alcantara steering weel, although it was from factory, that Rosso leather on it does not match with the rest of the interior 😜 congrats for the new challenge!
Love AV, had a chance to meet with him many years ago. Great guy and truly a Ferrari purist :)
Woah that’s a top tier mechanic, incredible knowledge base.
Not too bad a first inspection Sam.....you've bought a good one by the looks of it. The first Euro adventure will be fun, looking forward to it.
Following this series with interest Sam! 2024 is the year for buying dream cars!
What a great purchase you did. Well done Sam 🔥👌🏻
You have to applaud people like this know there stuff honest and do a proper job
Love these 360 update videos at AV
Otis is a top notch technician. He knows so much about these classic Ferraris. With how good of a deal you got on the CS. Even if you have to put 15-20k into it you still got a great deal. Sam have you thought about getting different tires for the winter driving? It's crazy to think that the 360 is now a classic. I remember when Clarkson reviews it on top gear lol

Excellent video Sam! Lovely car👌
What good news! Nicely done, Sam.
Excellent! Even if it was a turd it's worth every penny. The CS is special. At some point do the resto like you did on the 360. NO MANUAL CONVERSION! In 20 years people will be building "CS tribute cars" and putting in the semi auto. I have had an r-tronic R8 V10 for 10 years and it's perfectly fine. Love the angry downshift blips.
Love these episodes at AV
Can’t wait to see it getting sorted out Sam!
Your considered risk in buying the Stradale has turned out very well.. Aldous is amazing at spotting faults and now you can make the 360 A1. A great car and a great buy Sam.
This is how you own a car. Cars are about experiences they provide, especially future experiences in this case. And don’t let the small things get you down. Sam gets it
Not long discovered thus channel but he’s a likeable friendly guy, I love the 360cs too 😀
Beautiful car! Congratulations, I am so happy for you!
His knowledge and eye for detail is insane. So reassuring having a trusted mechanic like that, what a man
Things looking bright with the CS!
Just had my annual done on mine at AE performance. Usual stuff. Ball joints etc. great level of service from Adam whose looked after all my Ferraris
One of my favourite cars when I was with the P1 car club back in the day - the noises it makes are symphonic.
You have yourself a really wonderful car here. Its a beauty.
That's exactly what I had with the Brembos on my Range Rover. I couldn't believe they didn't have stainless pots, corrosion was terrible. E bay kits were less than £100 and the braking is now fantastic.
I love shops like that, never ever would I be taking this car to a dealership
Huge congratulations Sam. Love this format of video, really informative on the technical side of 360 CS ownership.
Great News!! Ahah Great, and what a Great workshop that is! Very professional Can wait for more vídeos of this car and some trips!
Nice video and thank you! I’m actually at the moment working on the engine (belts of course) of my 360 and I’ll check the oilpipelinesbracket (nice word) right away! 👍🏻
Happy for you Sam! Well deserved mate!
Great video Sam ... really please for you re: the purchase and good overall state of the car. Aldous/Eddy/AV are the best ... wouldn't trust my F430 to anyone else.
gonna be very exciting videos ahead for this cs, props for AV!! cant wait tony reaction hahahahahaha
Congrats Sam! Excellent video. I hope you share/tell the story about sorting her. We would love to see it. ☕️ oh and, please, take/bring Twiggy with you 😊
Sounded like 15k Sam. Not bad at all! You can be really proud of this Challenge Stradale. Congratulations 🎉🎉

15k sounds like a lot until the purchase price is factored in. But why does anyone winter drive cars like these? My admittedly not even worth talking about Jaguar F-Type stays in the garage from mid-November until late April, no salted roads for it.
Excellent and congrats, pleased for you! I am keen to understand how you (and the body shop) is going to have a go at the couple of minor corrosion spots under the paint. I have a very similar type of minor under the paint corrosion on an old Mercedes cabrio with original paint, (one spot around antenna hole, two spots under door trims quite similar to what he pointed out on your 360 here) and as of yet, the body shops only want to paint entire panels. Eek originality. So I've not yet done it and am interested to see what advice you might get for a proper repair to those very minor under-paint corrosion areas.
Congrats on a dream fulfilled, Sam. And August is amazing--really seems to know his stuff and is a great communicator. I really enjoy your videos featuring him. Please don't ever manual-convert this car, BTW--it would be counter to the entire design brief/purpose of the car...
AV clearly highly competent and honest - great to see. Time to visit your tailor and have your pockets deepened Sam!
Of all the channels I follow, this is the only update I’ve been waiting for! Love the channel Sam! Love BTG as well. You’re doing a great job and hope this never ends.
I am familiar with the "calipers" issue. I had a 1970 corvette and live in MI. USA. (The Frozen Waste-Land) and I converted all 4 corners to SS calipers, so sitting for 7 months a year, problem solved. Great result impressive, Congrats! It will be interesting over time if its a "Don't meet your Heroes". Cheers!
Why not replace the CC discs with steel items? A lot of owners do this and put back the CC discs when they sell the car. Apparently the steel discs brake equally good at a fraction of the price...
Good to know that there wasn’t any nasty surprises for you so soon after buying your dream. Congratulations on your purchase 👍
Wow, his attention to detail is outstanding!
Congratulation, Sam! What a car.
If your last 360 was anything to go by, this CS has found the perfect owner, who will give it all the care and attention it deserves. Enjoy it, Sam!
Congratulations on the CS. Thankyou Aldous for pointing out oil pipe bracket. I’ll get my specialist to check it just in case. 35k isn’t a bad mileage. This ridiculous low miles a Ferrari is supposed have seems to plague here and the US. It’s a great car Sam and realising your dream is not something anybody else has a worthy opinion. I had hoped to swap my 360 Modena (very similar spec to your 360 Modena was) for a 458 but alas time has ran out as I close in on retirement. Good luck with. BTW I almost sold my 360 back in 2020/21. Aldous did consider it. Fortunately I still own it.
Wish I could bring my 360 Spider to AV. Bit far though, as I live in Michigan. Certainly noted some things for the next time I take it for service. As always, great video Sam, thank you!
Fantastic car, fantastic video as always 👏🏽
AV Engineering is just a top notch outfit.
