Everything Wrong With Maleficent: Mistress of Evil In Horny Minutes

Фильм және анимация

Hey, straight up, this movie is terrible. Plenty of sins, sure, and we'll count them. But we wanted to give fair warning to anyone thinking about watching this.
Alright, now onto the sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

    The thing that killed me with this movie is the Fey and Humans are literally committing genocide on each other and everyone stops to have a wedding before the corpses are even cold.

    I know. I think its crazy how Aurora refuses to believe that the fairies are anything but totally harmless, when they literally rip other beings apart, and you know one literally killed her father and abducted her..... I think Aurora has a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome.

    Honestly her being good wouldn't even be so bad if she was like, the "necessary evil" type or anything. So far she's mainly been a victim of evil humans and hated for it. I guess that's how fae-cism works.

  • @Vitosi4ek1

    @Vitosi4ek1

    It's like Hollywood has a boner for multi-dimensional and "misunderstood" characters. Nearly every famous villain's origin story has been rewritten so he starts out as a good guy turning bad via external circumstances. Guys, Maleficent being viciously evil is a feature, not a bug, it's a fairy tale for fuck's sake. Fairy tales aren't known for having particularly fleshed-out characters, and that's okay, that's why people like them.

  • @BarkingCur

    @BarkingCur

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@Vitosi4ek1 Agreed. To me, the original Maleficent was not evil because she was someone's victim, but because she chose to be. That was what made her a great villain.

  • @Vitosi4ek1

    @Vitosi4ek1

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@BarkingCur It's not even that. The original story, to my knowledge, doesn't explain why she's evil at all. And that's by design: since fairy tales are (theoretically) stories told by parents to kids though countless generations (of course slightly changing each time), the story we know might be many thousands of iterations away from the original. Maybe Maleficent's origins were actually explained initially, but were lost in time as people didn't consider them to be important enough.

They could’ve easily had the town get along with her and the queen still do her evil queen shit. But I do see where your coming from, I’d prefer if she stayed evil but we still got backstory instead of her becoming little goody two shoes. Next thing you know they’re going to make the villain from princess and the frog, an misunderstood victim too...

    Pretty sure Exposition Fey was killed because he was also the only Fey who said he was against going to war with the humans and wanted Maleficent, the most powerful one, to lead them into a peaceful solution... So, by storytelling by numbers rules, as the Voice Of Reason, he dies so Stubborn Protagonist is forced to rethink their refusal to listen to reason initially.

    Philip getting a magic flower thingy from his mother to give to Aurora was the biggest disappointment of this movie for me. I actually found the queen's plan of blaming Maleficent for the death of the king a very solid plan, but throughout the movie she goes from Scar levels of evil plans to Robbie Rotten levels of evil plans. Oh and let's also not forget the entire war between the feys and the people which feels like it should be the ending to a generic trilogy of teen movies a la hunger games but is forced in our throats in half a movie.

    I actually thought that when maleficent died and the Phoenix appeared that aura would get her powers, because the Phoenix’s powers are passed down by family and maleficent accepted aura as her daughter again and sacrificed herself to save her And honestly I think that would have been a cool ending

    If Maleficent had actually died and her power had died with her (except she doesn't die apparently) then he should have been returned to raven form I assume. Makes sense for him to think he'll stay like that because he thought Maleficent just flew away happily and didn't see her get shot.

    I think you forgot to point out few things - The dead body of the loyal servant - They dont have any trace of the servant's death. Either blood or her corpse (perhaps the pixies doing but whatever) - When the pixies enter the chapel, they aren't that many but when the scene of their escape, they are a lot of it, even after the couple shot of scene (assume it may takes at least 30 mins or so) - In the castle, not just Philip hasnt heard the crashing bed and Aurora screams but also the battle cry, explosion and destruction during the war. - When you watch the scene of Maleficent transforming, keep your eyes to the two guards. - It shitty and cliche when Maleficent revive from Aurora's tears when it is actual thing that a Phoenix reborn from ashes without any help. No hate from this movie and I absulotely love this. Just pointing out their mistakes lol

    I hold this movie dear to my heart. I live in a military family where my parents are both in the military. This being so, we are constantly moving from continent to continent all over the world. Being pretty close to another time to move away, I asked my few good friends to watch this with me. They all said yes and I was very excited. We watched this, went for ice cream, did an escape room and then they left. Watching this movie was one of the few happy memories I had with my few friends. Yee

    Thank you for catching almost everything I did (I feel some validation satisfaction). Thank goodness I watched this at home via DVD with my family because I got to annoy just my family by shouting things like "It doesn't work that way!" in frustration at the screen when princey boy uses the round windsock as a hang glider. The only other thing that bugged me that you didn't mention was - how did all the winged creature kids get there fast enough for the wedding? Or did all the kids come to the battle?
