I think that's kinda the point? the fact that they retread the same main character arc in each movie feels intentional. I've always looked at the hotel transylvania series as a sitcom, but with feature-length episodes.

In the original Frankenstein the monster was supposed to be sexy but the eyes were what was creepy so Frank being a stud is lore accurate.

When the cinema sins commentary is better in 18 minutes then a full fledged movie you know you’ve sinned your last cinema sin on a franchise

One of the most well-known facts about vampires is that they can turn humans into other vampires. This whole plot could’ve been avoided if Johnny simply asked Mavis or Dracula to turn him into a vampire like them. Yet they conveniently forget about that for the sake of the plot. Besides, Johnny will age and die like a normal human while Mavis will live forever as a vampire. I would’ve loved a “Hotel Transylvania” movie centered around this than what we got instead!

I've been complaining about that since the first film. Drac gave Johnny a hard time for being human when he could just turn him into a vampire. Then the 2nd film makes it worse because now it's complaining about the grandson not being a vampire, and like wtf. Just bite them and turn them into vampires ffs.

@@knellycornnan5132 Really? The whole plot revolved around Johnny going out of his way to turn himself into a monster, so it would've been fine for him to become a vampire. And knowing Johnny, he would've loved all the powers and abilities that came with being a vampire. Also, I don't think he'd have to worry about STD's since the first movie said that Dracula and Mavis drink blood substitutes.

Was of the few that had long seen it and even started going through it in a bit of a cinema sins style XD The things that really annoyed me the most was the whole Dracula apparently can now mind control a vampire and Dennis and Winnie doing literally nothing in the whole movie when I honestly liked their interactions, and also as if Dracula couldn't just immobilize Johnny with his ability so that he could then aim the staff to hit him

Ah, you'd never make it as a studio exec in charge of shoveling cheap pablum down kids' throats to make a quick buck from exhausted parents; the last thing anyone wants is for kids to walk away from their babysitter-screens grappling with the existential dread of our inevitable mortality.

The end edits are always the best part. But "Your wings Johnny! Wings?!" "WOAH boy that Red Bull's some strong stuff!" was really hilarious. A rare time an actual product placement/mention is actually deserved and funny.

I thought that the reason that he could hypnotize Denise was because he’s a dampire (half vampire half human) so due to him not having all the vampire powers probably, Drac could do it

The first movie was actually amusing. Every movie to come after was just exhausting

Say what you will, but Brian Hull did a magnificent job as Drac.

Honestly the series could’ve survived better if more focus was put on Dennis and Winnie, since the writers clearly only want little kids as their audience.

You did not point out that the magic ray will turn any human into a monster and then they test it on a hamster to see if it's safe.

It's funny though, they could have easily made the plot work by saying: "Johnny, I know you overcame a lot of things with being a human. But one day... you will leave Mavis alone and as a Monster you would live longer. I don't want Mavis to go through the pain of losing a loved one and raising a kid alone." THERE! FIXED! It was that easy! They could have just said: "Hey you gonna die in like 40 years my dude. Maybe 30 and the plot could have made sense.

Haven’t watched the video yet but here’s a sin that should be addressed; Mavis is the source of the movie’s conflict! She overheard a private conversation between her dad and stepmother, and told Johnny about. Then Johnny goes to talk to Drac about it, causing Drac to panic and make up the lie about Johnny needing to be a monster, causing Johnny to look for a way to become a monster. This all happened because Mavis couldn’t keep her mouth shut!

No mention of the parallel that the thing Dracula cares about most is his hotel AND daughter? There's some parallel there. And Jonny ruining either is a heck of a message.

This movie's plot could've been easily solved if Mavis just turned Jhonny into a vampire.

Or if Dracula asked Mavis to bite him to turn him back into a vampire after being accidentally turned human. Wayne could also have his human transformation reversed in a similar manner by asking his wife to claw him with her claws. Unfortunately for Frank (or rather fortunate for him), Griffin and Murray would have to spend the rest of their lives as humans.

@@pompe221 And Vlad wasn’t even in the film! He just disappeared without any explanation! You’d think with the titular hotel itself celebrating its 125th anniversary and his son retiring to give the hotel to his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, he’d attend the party.

@@TheNeos07 It didn't really before. It clearly hurt, and he wasn't happy about it. But both he and Mavis were able to run around in the sun. he spent a solid 10 minutes in direct sunlight as a bat, and was fine afterwards

My major issue is if Johnny was ever concerned about not fitting in with his monster family, why didn't he just ask Dracula or Mavis to turn him into a vampire? Would have made for a better sequel plot and saved having a kid for the third one.

You somehow missed, at 21 seconds, that Mavis is leaning against the window, but then it is wide open when the camera angle changes after musical starts. 1 point.

I completely agree with not giving Jonny the hotel. He is a major screw up in every situation except backpacking in the first movie which led to marriage and children.everything else he touches is a disaster and it is completely understandable that Dracula would not want to leave him the thing he has worked on tirelessly for 125 years.

This movie series breaks a lot of its own rules going more and more down the line.

The reason Dracula brought the huge suitcase is because he fit in it. He was planning on changing back and being in it for the travel back. His mistake there was depending on Jonny who would not be in monster form to assist in the transpretation.

Just looked it up and apparently this movie made $18.5M on a $75M budget... Major bomb. If they make a 5th at this point they're just crazy lol

So these guys waited just over 2 years to sin this movie after it came out but had no problem sinning movies like Murder Mystery 2, GotG Vol. 3, The Flash (2023), Elemental, Fast X, the Mario movie, The Little Mermaid (2023), Across the Spiderverse, and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts on the same year they all came out. Makes sense to me.

I’m human again!” While it’s played as a joke that’s pretty freaking dark This means he was conscious as a zombies and the zombies are basically Drac’s slaves And since we don’t see them go after humans normally, this one probably got him because it thought “If I’m stuck here then so are you” Edit: also the transformation effected his clothing too

While Transformia may have been the weakest film of the Hotel Transylvania franchise, It was still very interesting to see what Johnny Looked like as a monster and what Dracula and friends looked like as humans. And whenever I see the part where Van Helsing says that the more time a human spends as a monster the more monster they become, I'm surprised that the writers didn't make it so that the longer Drac and friends stayed humans they would continue to age until they turned to dust.

Even for a kids' film, and even for a sins video, it's actually striking how big this movie's problems with internal consistency are. Making brainless entertainment to babysit young'uns with is one thing, but it really feels like the script for this thing was just pulled from an AI slurry of mashed-together tropes and characters with no human input but to cash the checks.
