Thanks for the interesting video. I still have the ‘86 GT that I ordered from Dearborn a little over 37 years ago. Same color combination as your daughter’s, although it’s a 5 speed with the 3.08 rear axle ratio that was a no cost option over the standard 2.73. Power windows , AC, tinted glass and a sunroof were also ordered. At this point it’s accumulated a little over 9,000 miles since new and has never been subjected to any inclement weather spending most of it’s life covered and garaged. Everything, and I mean everything is original with the exception of all fluids, oil filters and it’s 4th battery. As pointed out in your video, age takes it’s toll regardless of mileage even under the best of storage conditions. Rear hatch lift struts being something I’ll also have to attend to soon. Again, thanks for the video and the best of luck on (new) ride! 👍🏻

My first car was an 84 Mercury Capri. I remember the ignition switch feeling sloppy, then the car would shut off after cranking. When I pulled the cover off and found the ignition switch separating, I thought I could bend the pot metal tabs to tighten it. Snap! Drove the next day with a zip tie holding the mess together until I got a proper replacement. Also was my first experience using an easy out.

Very good video Matt, for a 37 year old car most of the problems are due to age, and due to sitting a lot. Some cars don't like to sit, as far as the AOD, i would do the fluild and filter change and wait about another 5k to 7k and repeat the fluid and filter change and then you should good for another 60-70 k .

My 91 had its OEM date coded plug wires still on it too. It is cool till you realize it doesn’t really matter because they need to be changed. Along with many other original parts. Radiator, water pump, etc etc. I would do a pan/filter service on the AOD. With that only changing 1/3 of the fluid that is perfect.

I’m not bending over backwards for a V6, that’s for sure. Some of the prices people are asking are just absurd not every car is a low mile SSC worth 40 to 60 grand lol people seem to think they’re ragged out 87 with 160,000 miles on it with Amazon euro headlights is worth 20 grand, that being said, I’m confident if we just stick to it will find a clean one somewhere. Why I didn’t keep my 86 GT or 88 LX 5 L i just don’t know I remember turning down an 86 ASC McLaren Capri in 99 because I thought 2500 bucks was ridiculous for it 😂😂😂😂 Anyway stoked I found your channel man keep the videos coming. Cheers.

I’m curious, all the stuff found wrong with this car, what was the cost to rectify it all? How much should one expect to pay in additional work needed on a Foxbody of this age?

Them Hellcats are mean and blister the tiree a lot, but don't cut them Foxbody's sny slack! Thay aren't super bad by todays standard, but they are light in weight and turn a pretty good quarter mile! I know, I have had an all original 87 GT hatchback for a long time. Love it, just put the first set of tires on it two years ago! No it isn't for sale!😊

No offense but thats the worst (mechanical) condition 50k mile mustang I have ever seen in my entire life. I don't think thats an accurate milage. And door pins at 50k??? No way possible.

It did sit for 21 years. I found a lot of the inspection marks on it as well like the alternator, steering rack, and intake manifold. I think it's legit 50k, plus I trust Chris of TIP who I bought the car from.

@@GearHead704 yeah I suppose it's possible but man I sure hate you have to get into all that on a low mile car. I've owned dozens of 100k plus mile fox's and have never seen all that happen like that. I will say that it is beautiful and I hope you get everything worked out!!
