Some people really are saying that he's that bad of a father even comparing him to the likes of Diavolo. He stayed away from his family because he knows there are still a lot of Dio underlings hunting him down and will definitely use his family against him. He was right. The one moment he decided to meet his daughter and rescue her, he got attacked and indirectly caused the reset of the universe.

Imagine you're in high school. You awaken a fighting spirit that punches things. You are told you have to kill an ancient enemy of your bloodline. Eventually you find said enemy and he has the power to stop time. Yet you are fully aware of what happens during stopped time. You can't move, you can't yell. This already would cause panic. Especially with a FUCKING VAMPIRE monologing at you. That being said, imagine not being able to move and having knives thrown at you. One wrong move will get you killed in the worst way and you can't even stop it. Jotaro really didn't come out of SDC of sound mind. That is probably why he dove into studies. Probably figured he should get to living before something like that happens again. Here he is now, a family man. Thinking he'd never have to deal with Dio again. Pucci probably watched the fight with dio with Jotaroe memory disc and figured out strategies against his stopped time. I feel bad for Jotaro. He also had to literally get out of a hospital bed after weeks of not moving and go fight. No time to stretch. That is why his time stop was so low. Probably suffered a little brain damage from being essentially dead till he was hooked up to life support. Everyone forgets about that. That he literally woke up and went straight to the battle with no time to acclimate.

I thought it was said by jotaro himself that as time acceleration got faster his timesrop got shorter. his time stop deteriorating happens very slow, and can be trained up quite quickly, as after 10 years he still stopped time for half a second in part 4, and by the end of part 4 could stop time for 5 seconds and beatdown kira

I think it also depends on how often he stops time. Dio could only stop time for barely a second, but achieved much more through practice. Seeing how strong Star Platinum is without stopping time, it's very likely Jotaro didn't need to use time stop very often, after SDC

​@@undefined6478 to be fair, jotato was able to stop time for like 5 seconds during part 3, part 4 he used time stops as a way to quickly dodge attack rather than actually using it to attack so he only needed half a second to 1 second.

​@@power_0007he was being tailed by stand users and assassins for quite some time after killing Dio and after he married and had Jolyne. He distanced himself so his wife and kid wouldn't get caught up in the turmoil, when Jolyne got arrested at the start of Stone Ocean, he delivered a stand arrow fragment to get her a stand to help protect her from assassins. Her case had been orchestrated so that she'd be in the prison as bait for Jotaro. He took it even with the prison being chock full of Dio's followers because he cared about Jolyne. He also took a number of hits for her while escaping prison, leading to the loss of his mind and stand for a time. Jolyne was bitter because she didn't understand why Jotaro was never around, but the truth was that he was keeping a deadly war from her and her mother so they could be safe.

He could have either taken his loving wife and young child with him, risking their lives in a war they can't even see properly. Or he did what he did and isolated himself from them so they could live a peaceful life away from said war he's been in.

You could see that he was really fighting through fear. Even his Stand cry sounded a bit fearful, but he knew he had to fight anyways.

Did you not see what happens to projectiles in stopped time? They'd stop before hitting Pucci and he'd dodge the moment time resumed.

Maybe not. Technically, it's only people who see time as accelerated. Everything else goes with the same acceleration as the universe, like Pucci. So it might have worked. Like how Jolyne got Pucci's eye with a knife

You somehow got my stance on Jotaro as a character and how I feel about the writing from a half joking comment that wasn't even really about Jotaro, that's crazy. Touch grass it ain't that serious. But if we're discussing for real, I never said Jotaro isn't an asspull character. "It's the same type of stand as Star Platinum" is literally my go to joke because of how fucking dumb it is. I said saying Pucci beat him with no asspulls isn't exactly fitting considering how he should've died 10 times over (especially if Time Stop wasn't constantly wasted as compared to previous parts, though at least it wasn't as bad as pt 4) before he unlocked MiH and how MiH is a literal cheat code. In particular, I've always had a problem with how plot nerfed Jotaro is not because I'm a Jotaro fanboy that needs him to win, but because of how he uses a quarter of the abilities that were shown off in part 3 that could've easily made the other parts trivial, like stand leaps, Star Finger, etc. Just because he isn't the main character anymore and shouldn't be able to steal the show doesn't mean that magically excuse him being written into a sandbag to achieve that. But again, none of that should've really mattered because the point of my comment wasn't Jotaro should've won cuz he's invincible, but rather Pucci should've lost without his asspulls (kinda like how Jotaro should've lost without his 😯). Maybe you should take a look in the mirror to see who's actually seething considering you went and came out swinging over a one sentence comment.

Jolyne has gone pale seeing those knives and realising her fate

If we think about it, Jotaro's trauma signs can be seen from Part 4-5 and then have some explanation in part 6. He literally shouldered the duty of pursuing any trace Dio or his minions might have left. The obsession was such that he neglected raising his daughter, although not his profession, I think XD. And for those who believe Jotaro is just an edgy, closed-off, and unexpressive character, in Part 3, you can see how much the battle against Dio made him sweat, not to mention the situation with his mother. Although initially portrayed as a wretched son, we later see that he does care for her and stops treating her poorly.

I also wanna mention the probable PTSD from seeing Anasui turned into a donut- it's both how Kakyoin died, as well as something that almost killed Koichi (who was in a similar outfit to Kakyoin at the time as well)

I like to imagine that after Pucci used Jolyne to attack he just stood still and started posing while waiting for jotaro to react and stop time.

everyone always says Jotaro is a bad father fail to remember that he was always loved his family above all else. he immidiately went to egypt to save his mother and purposely cut himself from his daughters life to protect her from stand users, and in the end he chose her over the universe :c

​@@nannerbanana2504as much as I would believe that Time Stop by humans would have possible health implications, it would make more sense that Father Pucci "fought tooth and nail" for about 2 decades to ensure that DIO's orders are to be fulfilled, which would include having to eliminate the Joestars as decisively as possible. Plus, Whitesnake's memory disks have their application for studying targets.

The issue is how much stress jotaro felt in that situation, he had no time left to think in stopped time, so he pretty much chose his daughter’s safety over the universe, he didn’t have the time to come up with that.

it’s difficult to portray the urgency of the situation in video without making it all happen way too fast for the audience to even notice it. one must imagine that he made a split second instinctual decision rather than deliberating a plan of action.

Whenever there's "thought" dialogue during stopped time in JoJo, I consider that as at the speed at which thought is actually at, which is lightning fast and is little to no time at all. And taking anime "time" into account, I would disregard long segments focusing on Pucci, DIO, etc. as Jotaro taking them into account in that split moment (but lengthened for us, the viewers) and only consider Jotaro's clear movements in stopped time as each second, like so: 1. Taking Stone Free's arm out of Anasui 2., 3. Moving through the water towards Pucci 4. Seeing the knives above Jolyne and suffering a PTSD flashback 5. Making the decision to save Jolyne instead of the world (haha jojo reference lmao) and pushing her out of the way of the knives. And Jotaro's intelligent enough to make these thought processes and movements in such short time bursts, since he was able to figure out that there were two Stand users that trapped Jotaro into an untenable situation to save his daughter but dooming himself and pushing Jolyne out of harm's way... in half a second. That's how fast thought can be, and how fast Jotaro can think.

Pretty sure he could have ended the guy while time was stopped, and still stopped all the knives after time resumed... His fight with Dio proved that he's fast enough. But he literally had one second, and his daughter's life was on the line, so fair misplay...

Stone Ocean was pretty slow until halfway, similar to DIU where it got good when Kira was introduced, kinda the same situation here. I think they should've done more with Jotaro's death as thats a pretty big thing killing Jotaro but it kinda was just, Slice, then he falls over and is dead. No big sequence like they gave Kakyoin.
