I per-ordered this monitor and I stepped over from a 27" ASUS Strix 4k 60Hz G-sync monitor, and I must say the gaming experience is better. Visually, I do not believe I lost anything coming from 4k, and the higher refresh rate improved my experience in FPS games. The HDR aspect wasn't a game changer for me, but going from 27" to 32" was awesome! The game feels more immersive and the picture is amazing. Games like Destiny 2 for example look absolutely stunning on this monitor. I only wish there was an option for HDR10 and still under $1k US, then the monitor would be perfect IMO. This was a great purchase that I'm very happy with!

@asdrubale bisanzio More compromises on this £700 monitor, as from a proper review of it: "When viewing regular sRGB content (most games and web content), the native 160% sRGB gamut of the monitor will result in over-saturated colors. Thankfully, there’s an sRGB emulation mode that restricts the color gamut to ~100% sRGB allowing you to view sRGB content the way it’s intended. However, the sRGB mode doesn’t allow you to adjust the brightness. So, you’ll be locked to around 160-nits in this mode, which will probably be fine for most users, but perhaps too bright for others, especially in dark rooms." So seems like the options are enjoy colours looking like a tv on demo mode in a store or have a screen as dim as a 12 year old office monitor.

On my Asus tuf, the ELMB sync is super great for sure. If it gets too dark, you can always use a lil bit of shadow boost. Also, if you like forced sharpening, I know the TUF model has it and not sure about this one but vivid pixel is not bad like 1 to 2 stages in.

5:00 this is why i think panel manufacturers need to come out with more options for pc monitors like they do for laptop screens. you get all sorts of crazy resolutions on laptops to fit whatever size and aspect ratio theyre using, yet on pc you either go 1440p or have to jump to 4k and tank performance. there needs to be a middle ground like an 1800p panel which would be perfect for 32" screens and not result in such a huge performance sacrifice as 4k.

This monitor ticks literally every box for me. I've been looking for 1440p, 120hz+, IPS, G/Free-sync, 32", good enough colour gamut for video and photo editing, and NOT 3x the price of the monitor I have already which ticks all those boxes apart from size, for over a year. Its not too hard to find something that ticks most of them, but thats not acceptable to me. Now I just have to wait and see when (if) we ever get it in Australia, and how much the Australia tax on it is going to be.

6:23 I had been using a 4K 60hz monitor for a really long time on my setup and while certainly not ideal for gaming it was beautiful, every detail was so crisp. However my 1080 ti, while a monster for all of these years, wouldn’t do well at 4K for all games, so now I have a 1440p 165hz monitor and while not as crisp it’s an overall worthwhile downgrade for what you get as benefits.

I would normally agree with you about 1440p. I have a niche use case where I do VR development and deep learning, and am very fortunate to be able to use the same machine for gaming. In my highly specific use-case, I think it's worth 4k HDR so I can take advantage of the other hardware when I game and so that I can debug artifacts in the VR stuff more easily. Your mileage may vary, but you may want to consider something more high-end if you already have such a system built for other things. If I had a purpose-built gaming PC, I would absolutely go for 1080p or 1440p. I'm replacing my free monitor from 2008 with a used PG43UQ, and I wonder if I'll notice a difference. Excited to see! This seems like it should be a decent display. I am a bit concerned that this is DisplayHDR-1000 and not HDR-1000, but from the research I did, DisplayHDR-1000 just seems like a more specific version of HDR-1000. Please correct me if I'm wrong for the benefit of others.
