EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT CELLS AND LACING!

Ойын-сауық

EDIT: Sorry in advance if anyone has trouble with the audio. It works fine(quite loud) on my laptop, iPad, and cell phone. My husband's iPhone is a bit quieter, but still audible. for anyone having issues: I am not sure what's happening but KZread does generate closed captions that are fairly accurate, or possibly try using headphones.
This video covers absolutely everything that I know about getting cells and lacing in resin art. I am not a master by any means but I have been experimenting with this technique for a while now and want to share what I’ve learned with you all, whether you are just starting out or if you are familiar with resin but struggling to get these effects in your own artwork. I broke in the video down into three sections by technique: 1) adding white to clear, 2) adding white and clear to other colors, and 3) cells WITHOUT clear. I tried to include as many helpful tips as I could fit in, I apologize for being a little wordy lol.

    Thank you for making this video! I’m spinning my wheels trying to get the lacing effect but am not having any luck. I used ArtResin and mica powder for the ocean. For the white I use 1/4 cup of ArtResin with 8 drops of Castin Craft white pigment and two drops of Ranger snow cap alcohol ink, as I’ve read it helps with creating the cells. When I push the white away with the blower, it just runs all over the surface like spilled milk. Absolutely no lacing :(. Am I using too much castin craft or not enough? Do I need to let the white resin thicken up before using so it does just run?

    I loved how equally the lacing was in your ring dish. Did you put the white in the center of the dish to spread it out in all directions? Loved the video❤ I have tried my hands on the ocean waves but failed every time. How thick does the white pigment hAve to be to form lacings? I wait till it becomes like sugar syrup consistency, but the rest of the poured resin on the board thickens too and it becomes very hard to move the resin. It would simply spread on the entire board like clouds (no lacing or cells). I have also tried keeping the white less thicker than sugar syrup, that didn't work too. What am I missing here please? Should the clear resin be less viscous than the white? Also, how close do you keep the gun to your resin?

  • @SamanthasDoodles

    @SamanthasDoodles

    Жыл бұрын

    No closer than 1/2 an inch to the board. White has to be denser- that’s why I use the pigment paste (any reputable brand should do) and like to do a layer of just clear and white at the end. I never had to let it thicken

  • @SamanthasDoodles

    @SamanthasDoodles

    Honestly all I can think is that it was just recorded later in my pour session and that’s why it was thicker, I don’t typically let my resin thicken up intentionally but as the work time goes by it tends to do so. I stick to the same less than 10% ratio when mixing white in as well and just mix up as much as I think I might need. Sorry that’s not more help!

    Mara 6272 I rarely do flood coats - it’s whatever your preference is! I’ve done plenty where last coat includes lacing. Good luck !

    Hi Conor, I tested on my phone, iPad, and laptop as well as my husband's phone and sound seems to be working ok. Sorry for any trouble. Maybe headphones would help

    Wish you had recorded louder. I had such a hard time making out what you were saying. It was so informative but I could not hear every word. I even tried using my ear buds but it did not help.

    Sally Poultney hi, I addressed this in the description. Seems half are able to hear fine. Probably some kind of glitch. Sorry! You can try the auto generated captions

    I guess try the generated captions. Not sure why the volume is having issues. Works fine on all my stuff. My husband's iphone is a little quiet, but everything I've tested on is clear. Sorry!
