Some people don't even realize times have changed. Alot of people carry nowadays..... tonight I had 3 people about to try to jump me it got close......but I was able to prove my point without drawing..talked them out of it...all these idiots nowadays don't realize a majority of the population carry.....makes me nervous one day I won't be able to talk my way out of it I don't understand what's happened to the people in the world anymore. I'm a former armed security guard as well as a CCW permit holder for the past 15+ years. The one rule I always follow when I carry my handgun is to ONLY draw it if my life is in jeopardy. This is even after I have exhausted every other less lethal tool beforehand, I am carrying at the time. The moment I start carrying my firearm it stays in its holster until I take off at the end of the day. I'm always looking for a method of leaving the threatening situation.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to leave your gun in your car. Most stolen guns are stolen from cars. Most people who break into to cars are targeting guns. Many gangs choose to do car mass break ins at workplaces where they know the employees are prohibited from carrying in the building, and will likely leave guns in the car. It’s less risk to just keep it on you honestly

The biggest thing about CC is learning and understanding the laws and what is considered self defense and what’s involved after also, training in this is so important. It’s not just at the range. Deadly force triangle. 1. Capability 2. Opportunity 3. Intent, those 3 things have to be proven in court and if any one of those things aren’t proven you will be convicted.

I don’t understand this law because George Zimmerman followed Trayvon martin through a neighborhood because he thought he looked suspicious and pursued him even after a 911 operator told him not to follow him and a fight broke out because he chased the boy down and once the boy started getting the upper hand on him he shoots and kills him and gets away with it using stand your ground law which is ridiculous because he started the entire situation so I’m confused on stand your ground.

"chased the boy down". Says who? Not Zimmerman, not any witness to the event. SYG didn't technically apply in that case because Martin was on top of him restricting his movement while pounding his head into the ground. He couldn't retreat at the moment he used deadly force.

Most of these incidents end with a plea deal. By rule, USCCA doesn’t have to do anything to help you even if you didn’t take the plea for the initial big charge. Plus they will then slander your name in and use you for promotional materials. Case in point, Kayla Giles. Look that up and see if it doesn’t make your skin crawl. I still didn't point it at him but it definitely got my point across. Point being I waited until the last possible moment to draw down on him, most ppl that carry don't want to ever e even pull their firearm contrary to the anti gunners that make it out that we all just want to go kill ppl.

You are not specific. Let's specify two things: "stand your ground" and "castle doctrine" in some places - lets focus on concealed carry in public (we can carry in place of dwelling without carry permit here in NJ). We do have "castle doctrine" in New Jersey (no we do not have to retreat from home unlike in New York and new yorkers misinform people in NJ frequently as they do not know law here). On other hand, when you carry in public you have to retreat in NJ. However, in no circumstances you can protect property with deadly force in New Jersey regardless if at place of dwelling or in public. There were thieves who tried to rob car and guy used gun. It ended bad for that guy legally. Similarly you are being robbed at home you cannot shoot someone. However, definition of deadly force is when you pull trigger. that means that at home you can point gun at someone with full intent to use, but not pulling trigger and command them to leave your property. If hey attack you at this point you can shoot them. same with kick on door which establishes attack (that is why police officers do not want to execute red flag orders, because we had case of shooting between police and civilian and judge ruled that it was not fault of civilian and police should be more careful). That is also how idiotic is ATF when they plug your visor or cut off power to cameras which creates dangerous situations when could be avoided (nobody sane wants to shoot at police or even aim at them).

I was born and raised in ny state and it’s a duty to retreat state. And during are mandatory class you had to take at the time it maybe still like that I don’t know but it was said if someone comes through your front door and you have a back door or your on the first floor you can go out a window. You have to do that lol seriously. I live in sd now and what I love not just we have stand your ground law but it’s actually very simple to understand it’s like a page maybe two. Are you allowed to be here are you not involved in a crime is there a threat towards you or whatever the actual wording is but it was so refreshing to see something that is common sense and laid out for you to actually understand no duty to jump through a window of your own home if someone breaks in your door in the middle of the night. Stand your ground laws should be the case for all states its a god given or natural right to defend yourself from harm or to protect those around you being harmed that’s a natural instinct we all have it’s either fight or flight natural instinct. And I’ll say living in a state were there are a lot of guns and gun owners yes states population isn’t very big but it’s like 70 percent of homes have firearms something like that and a lot of people carry a gun here atleast we’re I live in the state they do and I’m in a city not rural. But we don’t have a lot of crime and I haven’t seen anyone road rage no fights in the Walmart parking lots lol and coming from New York State I have seen all of the above I have seen two 300 pound women I guess you would call them that toe to toe straight up boxing each other in the middle of the street with cops all around nobody wanting to be the first one in and get laid out on there ass by one of these super classy lady’s truly believe it’s why they didn’t break it up lol. I have seen nothing like that here everyone is very cool with each other cause you really don’t know what the other person has and it keeps everything very civil very Polite. Seeing both extremes of gun laws and self defense laws I’ll take stand your ground state any day.

That includes retreating (if 100% safe to do so) even if you have a right not to. USCCA is just another insurance company, just like all that are insurance! They have had a few cases that was very controversial in the last couple of years. They are good on training but at the end of the day they are still insurance and insurance will always determine if the can legally get out of paying for your legal fees! And laws don’t allow insurance to cover illegal acts period! We all hope to be completely legit if God forbid we had to be in a defensive shooting! Say you were in a situation where you did not see a 30-06 sign in a establishment and your shooting considered a legit shoot the insurance will and legally can drop your coverage because there was a 30-06 sign you simply over loaded! You really need to look at attorneys on retainer. They are nothing but attorneys not insurance in any form or fashion so they can cover you no matter what and will cover you as long as you were in a defensive shooting!
