I wholeheatly agree. Mako filled my achy heart with amounts of joy, unfathomable to most mortals.

This is one of those anime where it JUST sounds believable when people say they watch it for the plot and not the plot

Thank you for covering one of my all time favorite anime series. Fun fact: Ryuko and Satsuki are magical girls, complete with transformation sequences.

The fact that there are 16 wins before the main character is even shown says enough about the quality of this introduction to the series

Yeah, several of my favorite shows are completely anime original. It really says a lot about the passion behind a production if they're able to get the funding for such an expensive product that has no preexisting fan base to speak of. They are very often good, and they also make up a fair portion of what I consider to be the greatest ever, such as KLK and Vivi.

This anime was a very, VERY pleasant surprise the first time I watched it. Trigger Studios NEVER disappoints with incredible outstanding animation, mold-breaking characters and a unique world building. Can't wait for part 2! This anime deserves more praise for sure.

@@AnimeWins Ikr?!! I also watched it a couple more times a few years back and there is always something to pick up and appreciate more than the last time. The characters, the animation, the story, the foreshadows here and there, it's amazing.

9:33 This show is actually quite CGI-heavy, it’s just disguised so much better than in pretty much any other animé I’ve seen not made by Trigger. Any shot with an orbiting camera that has characters in it was done with CGI. Trigger knows how to blend 2D and 3D animation near-seamlessly. The most obvious CG is whenever random crowds of the generic male students are flung around. The male student Gamagori beats up at the start of the first episode constantly switches between being 2D and 3D within the same shot of him being thrown across the schoolyard, for instance, and the stairwell he ran down before that was a completely 3D environment.

Ah yes, Shadow the Hedgehog's favorite anime, and also one of the greatest of all time.

Genuinely forgot how great and funny this was!

To me Kill La Kill will always be the spiritual successor to FLCL. No one can convince me otherwise that any other material should be seen as the successor.

At the start, the history lesson is about hitler and fascism, which coincidentally is a near homophone of the word Fashion in japanese. Another win!

Kill la Kill is one of my all-time favorite anime, for most of what you've pointed out. It is a technical masterpiece, with top notch animation, sound track (which I've listened to in isolation, it's amazing), theming, et al. It's hard to recommend because its central theme, being comfortable in your own skin and not caring so much what other people think of you, is a bit too literal for some people's eyes. But I absolutely love it

How could you not love all the attention that was clearly given to each and every frame of animation? Smoothest visuals and sounds ever. This is one of those anime where the sub and dub are great, so there's no compromise in quality.

Watching it a 2nd time through, it's hands down one of the most beautiful and impressive looking anime I've ever seen.

For an anime original show, this one was pretty good

Kill la kill one of the few anime that I give a rewatch atleast once a year. It's one of those shows that you can rewatch over and over and pick up on so many little details. Trigger really went all on this show and it still holds its own against the recent giants of the anime world.

I've been waiting for this one! This is definitely one of my favourite anime even with the very jarring twist in the second half I believe.

Yayyy! I was so excited for you to post this, this is one of my favorite anime series! I adore Studio TRIGGERs works and this is the first show I saw from them.

its been ages but theres 1 thing i remember that is usually ignored because they gave her a tone shift immediately after. Blumenkranz, the evil queens theme was originally Ryuko's. rewatch ep 1 and pay attention. she got the villain theme intro and did the heel turn face for teh plot

Almost missed this video. Not because I didn't ring the bell, but because I was really busy that day and forgot to save this video for later. But, here I am to say, as always, you mention the trails series, I give you like, and a comment :)

Something I would definitely "ding" in this anime is the architecture of the academy. It's all done in what can be identified as early 1950s Modernism and "brutalism" (the name does sell perfectly, doesn't it?) such as the works of Mies van Der Rhoe, Oscar Nyemeyer and even a little bit of the contemporary style of the late Zaha Hadid, but it really manages to sell us the clean yet heavy and OPPRESSIVE nature of Hon'ouji Academy, tying to the history class talking about Hitler's rise to power in the early 40s and how this style of architecture was coined by a lot of sympathizers to both the Third Reich and the Soviet Union and their ideals of colectivism, efficiency and industrialism.

Watched this about 2 years back with some friends and have been insane about it ever since. We watched it dub but both voice casts pull their weight amazingly.

Mako❤ is NO sidechar. The anime used lots of CGI. Most bgs are not animated, but handdrawn. (the making of is a genius deepdive, especially how Sushi-O approached the bold action scenes) Great vid of my favourite nontheless👍👍👍

An extra win for Ryuko just TANKING all the damage!! Ryuko takes it all and keeps coming back for more!

Just started rewatching this for the 3rd/4th time. I forgot how much of a sensory overload it is and how absolutely absurd the story is but that's what makes it great.

I'm sad you didn't show the part at the end where shes like "did you think you'd managed to get behind me??" and hes just standing in front of her it was so frickin cool. Great video, I'm loving how wacky this series is, and how they go from wacky to genuinely cool moments so easily.

Kill la Kill was the first anime since FLCL that gave me actual fooly cooly vibes

And do not forget that the OST is composed by the greatest of all GOAT, Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Xenoblade X, Gundam Unicorn, Seven Deadly Sins)

The dub is fantastic. Also mako and ryuko are my favorite beans will detail later. Also note they did use a ton of cg but they made it overly styilized so exstensivly that it looks like there isn't any. Perfect example of this is that rotating shot in ep 3

Please do kengan ashura trust me, there is one iconic voice actor voicing a MC

This is my favorite anime of all time and I HIGHLY recommend the dub. As someone who decided to watch both sub and dub back to back, yeah, the dub is a thousand times better.

I watched the dub when I Sinned it years ago, but I must admit I preferred the Sub a lot more, in spite of loving the dub at the time. I go into that more over the next 3 videos.

It seems like this is a different sub translation to what was originally streamed on CR.... Anyway knowing that means that I know and love this anime. Darn that OP, is godly.

If that were true I wouldn't have done literal hours of extra editing for the series to ensure they're happy lol.

"using basically no CGI during this anime" every rotating shot you've seen in this show used cgi. all of them. episode 1, where the kid gets thrown, where the camera zooms through the boxing ring, etc. the cgi team cooked. edit also like 50% of the showdown in episode 3
