Fun fact about Reznov: when you first meet him in WaW, he hands you a sniper and tells you he is too injured to use it. If you look at his hands, you can see that he is missing half his right index finger. This details is consistent throughout the game, and within Black Ops as well. However, once Mason starts hallucinating, Reznov's finger magically reappears. It was mentioned that you being a special bunch, you were given access to weapons which are not yet developed. So, you get to play with a few prototypes, such as the FAMAS; it was released 10 years after the last mission, and with its noticeable top stock. The prototype you start the last mission with comes without this top stock. About Shteiner, this is mostly something Americans don't know about the German language: If 's' is in the start of a word, and followed by 'p' or 't', it is pronounced as 'sch'(sh in english). This rule also applies to the base words in compound words. The Russians are saying his name more correctly than the Americans, but German lacks the 'uh' vowel as a whole. To add to this, many people say Einstein with an 's' and not a 'sh' Another thing about Germany - it is forbidden by law to glorify the holocaust, but also forbidden by law to deny its existence. To be fair, it is more expected of top-tier rappers to know how to play with their voices, so Ice Cube doing good VA work is to be expected. He was also more famous at the time for his acting career, as not everyone is into gangsta rap. You also forgot to mention Ed Harris being Hudson's VA, but given your age, this is excusable. Not having watched 'The Rock' is not. :D I also remembered a few secrets in the main menu room: -You can play a top-down minigame on the PC -You can access a bunch of files you unlock during the game. One of them mentions sending a young John Price to hunt down Mason.

Okay so im a massive WW2 buff and some of my gripes with Cod stem from this fact. However, the one in front with a gun isnt necessarily the most true story. The Red Army had some incredible means of production and their soldiers were all equip when in battle. However, there were for lack of a better word soldiers in Stalingrad who were not receiving the supply as they were not Red Army and not deemed essential. It was (if my memory serves right from the different recollections) these men who through themselves at the enemy without weapons hoping to scavenge one as time progressed. This is not to discredit the fact that Russians in that war were another breed, but id figure id share this tidbit. PS love the channel!

Partisans. The word you're looking for is "Partisans". However, the idea that the Russians didn't have enough rifles at Stalingrad is entirely a myth. The Mosin Nagant was one of the most-produced rifles in human history. The Soviets had more then enough, so many that they would just leave thousands of them dispersed throughout forests and in caches whenever they could, in order to arm the citizens left behind the front to harass the Germans.

Many people also don't understand that the massive proportion of casualties for the Soviet Union were predominantly civilians. Not Soviet Combatants. More than half of the 25 Million people killed by the National Socialists were innocent people caught between two iron fisted tyrannical regimes. One that saw them as vermin (NatSocs), and the other that saw them as cannon fodder to slow the enemy down (Soviets). In all reality, the casualties are a tragedy of what happens when Tyrannies collide. Not a proof of "How much the Soviets put into the fight to win," To Stalin, Women and Children, and even the elderly, were just as much combatants for the Motherland as a grown man would be carrying a rifle and wearing a uniform. If they could not carry a rifle, they could render medical assistance. If not medical assistance, work in a factory. If not in a factory, they were placed near the front to build fortifications. And if necessary, with the immense influence the Soviet Commissariat had in the early years of the war, be thrown towards the NatSocs to slow down their advance. Leningrad had quite a number of those occur. German soldiers, especially the Panzer elements that arrived on the outskirts of the city, prior to its siege, stated that they had mowed down entire swaths of civilians advancing on their position (in both a position of loathing for the people, and a position of not knowing what might happen once they were a stone's throw and among them). Essentially, this presumption of the Soviet Union being the "Good Guys" rather than just a mutual ally against a common enemy is incredibly biased and derives itself from typical minimalist research and typical propaganda. Because these same people will ignore just how EVERYWHERE the United States was. There was only one singular front the US was not at, and that was the Eastern Front. But the US was, quite literally, involved everywhere else. There's few locations where US Armed Forces were not invested in, whether by logistics or even by fighting forces. So the lie is even grander when coupled with the fact that the US was taking on the two major Axis Powers that were incredibly close to global domination.

Thank you so much for covering this! I love the Modern Warfare trilogy but this is the best COD game by far for me, the story made me interested in Cold War history and I know everyone talks about it but that twist is still mind blowing to this day with perfect execution that holds up even on multiple replays. Fantastic game from start to finish with some really unique missions and stellar set piece moments with fun memorable characters. Chefs kiss. Peak COD Hopefully you’ll cover some more of the franchise, especially the modern warfare trilogy, world at war and black ops 2 15:04 you are clearly a man of quality, respect

I love this game! Influencing and setting a benchmark for all game after it to reach for. It was so powerful to also be given a game that makes me question the government I have lived under and it's place in history. Please cover the other cod games around this time. The MW2, WAW, BO2, ones. Following each of the "arches" (i.e. modern warfare & Black Ops) would be awesome to follow. Thank you for the great content.🙏🔥🌶️

This game is a masterpiece of action games. Also great video, I never realized the TV screens when the JFK thing in the Pentagon, neither with the numbers are heard when Reznov appears. Also, when you shoot Reznov in Vorkuta, the friendly fire "you lost" screen appears, but in the following missions, you can shoot him all you want, there isn't friendly fire "you lost" screen

I was also a kid when this game was released. I didn't really put that much thought into the story back then, but seeing it now, I realize it is one of the best campaigns of COD history. Love your videos! You will probably do a video on BO2 right? Looking forward to it :)).

I'd lobe to see tou do all the cod campaigns from CoD4 onwards! Especially the one's tou haven't played as it's be interesting to see your fresh take on them :D Maybe you could do seperate videos for zombies? I think especially from BO2 onwards it became it's own beast that for alot of people was the main selling point of the games. Myself included! Great vid as always, I love chilling after a long day and listening to you incite some positive words on some of my favourite games. Pizza!

If there is one thing to add, I love the inclusion of the soldier that falls off the platform in the blackbird mission in the pawntakespawn promotion leading up to BOCW, you never thought such a small and minor character would be brought back a whole decade later to promote the next game

I'm almost 40 and at the time of this game I was in my mid 20's and still in think this is one of the most brilliant art pieces. My first cod was mw2 and the emotions I felt were strong as I was a military recruiter and you think about the people you enlist and what they may go through but this was just a genius story.

My sister and I bonded a lot playing this game, I introduced her to zombies and the first time she played she somehow threw a grenade at herself and died. I still remember us getting so excited just at getting the power on in Kino Der Toten. These days we're still kicking it to CoD zombies on the regular, even though she's working the 9 to 5 and I'm off at grad school. Can't deny the impact this game had on both our lives. Thanks for going through this one, I hope you give BO2 the same treatment soon, and maybe do a separate "EGA CoD Zombies" video!

What makes the cold war an amazing setting too is just about everyone knows someone who lived in that time period. Just by being a time far enough away it's history but also close enough you know people who lived in that era adds a whole other feeling to the game.

I originally played this game on Wii as a 10 year old. idk how my parents didn’t realize this was a pretty violent game but it became a favorite for sure. I remember getting stuck on the level in the Vietnam trenches and restarting the game time after time. Eventually I did get past it and finish the game and loved it even more, and whenever I went to play zombies by myself I always got scared as a kid.

thoroughly enjoyed the video and I could not agree more on your point of COD inspiring learning, I wouldn't have a history degree and a masters in military history if COD hadn't been such a stunning franchise as I grew up. In terms of Zombies, I say give them their own video, a big summary of all the evolutions in style, plot and gameplay, hell, they're basically their own games now anyway with how convoluted they all are haha
