Scatman John didn’t make it to the twenty-first century, but his music sure did. What better legacy can you leave for the next generations than a whole library of feels good music?

He was an extremely talented guy. RIP Scatman
He was born John Paul Larkin on March 13th 1942 in El Monte, California. Later he was better known by his stage name "Scatman John". John Larkin was a stutterer. The condition caused him frustration and pain from the ridicule and dismissive attitudes of some. He found solace in the music -- first in piano, then in scat singing. For whatever reason, stuttering was never a problem for him when he sang scat. He went on to create a fusion of scat singing and dance music. One of his basic messages was "I can overcome difficulties. If I can do it, so can you." Sadly, he passed in 1999, but he leaves behind a great legacy.

The only sad things about him are that he died and he has John Paul in his name. We all know what that's associated with now.
Moral of the story: Live life while you can. Enjoy thing while they last. I will, John. I will.
Still listening in 2020 Greetings from Budapest,
Every time that I get lost and so overwhelmed in life with much stuff to do, I come here to listen to his wise words in the song. I miss you, John. Thank you. Rest in Heaven.

I know! I've been using his music as solace for some time... It's so beautiful.
How many times am I going to listen to this song tonight? The answer is not enough.
It sounds like a final message As his voice inevitably fades My message to you Live in the moment, learn from our past, and get ready for the future, whatever it may bring... 🕴
Turns out The Scatman wrote almost all of his song lyrics. It's so sad that we lost him so young, he had a lot of talent. :(

He was full of energy and plans on the last decade of his life when he finally received public attention. Yet his cancer sped up his demise caused by vicious habits he held for a long time.

This is my favorite Scatman John song probably. It's interesting the music choice, it reminds me of what I would hear in the 80's or early 90's. Yet it fits so well for him still. Love the lyrical messages he gives. Have to remind myself even sometimes to live in the moment. "Life is for living in the moment."
One of the best Singer i ever Heard
65 found his tunes made me get up dancing haven't done that in years . Thank you Mr scatman
Scatman reminds the childhood...
And it's a good combination of pop with rap and a bit of jazz and Scatman John
This song is beautiful and relaxing but the older i get the more it makes me want to cry too. But im happy that i took the songs message to heart too
We be remember you Scatman John
My favourite song from the album, it shows off his jazz background. Superb.
Although I already knew about John, I reached this song by accident while looking for another with the same name (a Metal song by the band Deadbolt Zen). It's clear for me that this one is heavily based on Hip-Hop songs from the 90s, those slowly ones like "The Ghetto" by Too $hort. Anyway... Great song. I'm glad it came to me. Thanks again, Scatman.
Passed my highschool finals today. Plenty of stress about the maths part. Couldn't stop thinking about a lot of John's lyrics in regards to that.

Bought this on CD for the single...what a surprise that the entire album is gold, including this little nugget and my personal favorite "Time"
First time I'm hearing this song, just recommended. I conveniently, very much needed to hear this at the moment, thinking about life, how much time has passed me, feeling behind in life, regrets. And this is just what I needed. Thank you once more, Scatmam John for entertaining and inspiring me
I am fucking crying
Since 1995 very nice album
He was the best they hooked him up on that scatman video graphics best graphics
This is a fantastically composed song. Great message too. The music is super nostalgic. Almost sounds similar to some of the music from Diddy Kong Racing. That takes me back.
Better rapper than most of these new rappers nowadays
Great song. Great lyrics and beat.
Great lyrics.
He gave us good music
This gives me Sonic CD vibes!
Thank you, John. You're helping me get over my own speech impediment!
This would've made for an awesome 90s hip-hop sample.
Such talent😭
