Ah, yes, the glorious days when EBTG would actually appear in their videos! Love this song, awesome video. Love the whole Tempermental album - it's underappreciated, for sure.

EBTG music is still played in huge clubs in Montreal Canada, the remixes and originals back to back are awesome, can't stop dancing. This group was always one of my favs

This is crazy cause my parents played EBTG one day and I asked where the heck they heard this and their response was “back in our day at the clubs in Montreal. Unfortunately I was born in Vancouver and we have yet to do a trip to Montreal so I can see it. I bet it’s just as exciting as the song itself. This band from England is phenomenal though! Not like todays music I grew up on its quite unique and different!

Bought this CD when I went to live in Spain on my own for a year in 2000. Was a real signature CD for me. Its an incredible CD about loneliness with some haunting tunes and lyrics. Great CD

Their music took so many twists and turns - go back and listen to their first few albums and you will find a whole different sound that was magnificent.

its the bands unique sound that makes them untouchable, even today in 2017. Love them always. Still played in Montreal clubs and people are still on the speakers dancing when it comes on.

EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL - TEMPERAMENTAL Everything but the Girl are an English musical duo formed in Kingston upon Hull in 1982, consisting of lead singer, songwriter, composer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, producer and singer Ben Watt. The group's early works have been categorized as sophisti-pop with jazz influences before undergoing an electronic turn following the worldwide success of the 1994 hit single "Missing". The duo have achieved four top 10 and 12 top 40 singles in the UK and have received eight gold and two platinum album BPI certifications in the UK as well as one gold album RIAA certification in the US. Their cover of "I Don't Want to Talk About It" reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart in 1988, a feat later matched by "Missing", which charted high in several countries and reached No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1995 and spent over seven months on the UK Singles Chart thanks to a popular remix by Todd Terry which led to a Brit Award nomination for Best British Single. Their ninth album Walking Wounded (1996) set a new career best by entering the UK albums chart at No. four, and spawned the top 10 singles "Walking Wounded" and "Wrong". It was released on 27 September 1999 by Atlantic Records in the United States and Virgin Records in Europe. By the end of 1999, Temperamental had sold 115,000 copies in the United States, according to Billboard. It sold over 500,000 copies worldwide, and was met with success in the dance market. "The Future of the Future (Stay Gold)" (US Dance No. 1, UK No. 31), "Five Fathoms" (US Dance No. 1, No. UK No. 27), "Blame", "Temperamental" (US Dance No. 1, UK No. 72) and "Lullaby of Clubland" (US Dance No. 3) were released as singles. Temperamental was reissued by Edsel Records as a two-disc deluxe set on 4 September 2015. Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt recorded Temperamental in the immediate period following the birth of their twin daughters in 1998. Due to Thorn's preoccupation with motherhood, her level of involvement in the creation of the album was scaled back, with Watt taking on a more prominent role in writing lyrics and music. Thorn recorded most of her vocals during late-night studio sessions, after the twins had gone to sleep. Michael White of The Quietus viewed it as "an aesthetic continuation of [Walking Wounded], synthesizing the most recent developments of clubland with the duo's intrinsic song-based approach". Ben Watt incorporated production techniques that he had learned from his three years as a resident DJ at Bar Rumba and Notting Hill Arts Club into the album's songs, including cross-fading, back spinning, and filtering. Stephen Thomas Erlewine observed that the songs on Temperamental "are essentially in the singer/songwriter vein" and described the album as a whole as "more of a meditative, reflective piece", while also observing a relative lack of pop hooks compared to Walking Wounded. This was one of the first songs I played in Beatmania IIDX 3rd Style back in 2000. Getting used to 7-key play took some time, and I started (and stayed!) on the 2P side since it felt so strange having the turntable on the left. But man, it was so cool seeing actual videos playing vs. the more basic graphics of the 5-key games, and the IIDX arcade machines just looked so amazing. I'll forever associate this song with that game and era of my life.

Recuerdo que era el canal electrónica.tv, que estaba dentro de music 21. Estaba a la noche ese segmento de videos de música electrónica. Recuerdo que también pasaban videos de pacha bs as con grandes djs en las bandejas!

....EBTG were literally on the cusp of the shift in Dance Music (towards the end of 1999), leaving progressive House, & leaning to the Electro / Body & Soul French House sounds of Cassius, Daft Punk, Ananda Project, Bob Sinclar, etc., in the new millenium (2000- onwards) (cont.) ....this # 1 Dance tune kept the balance in the shift, w. the Club 69 "Big Room" remixes, & the Kevin Yost 'Side Room' remixes....then, Ben Watt became a name, with his "Lazy Dog" moniker...THIS, is how a Band updates, and EDUCATES.....

This song mostly appeals to melancholics people like me who enjoy long spells of solitude.

Dancing Stage/Dance Dance Revolution feature on this video is AWESOME. This was probably a really new arcade machine since it got a release in Europe on March 9th 1999. This single was probably a release prior to the album which was released in September of that same year. The stage looks so new, and the reactions and emotions everyone has on the video is such a great capture. If this video gets remastered, especially if it was shot on film, it would be so cool.

God the nostalgia, going out playing DDR back in the day like that. Great track. Also, awesome to see this song end up in Beatmania IIDX 3rd Style (the next gen Beatmania iteration the guy was playing at 2:15)

The best music of the soundtrack of beatmania IIDX 3rd Style. This is unbelievable! Venezuela loves you so very much! This musbe the beatmania II super version. In VH1, i was watching all of the arcade are the international games.

The day the Albulm came out, Thats when I new it would be in heavy rotation. The Vinyl on the other hand with all the different versions of some of the songs is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!
