Ойындар

Valve knows how to put out banger games, but not taking care of them, TF2: abandoned, CS: a joke full of cheaters. I'll never understand why Valve adresses literally nothing, they're like the dad who goes for a pack of cigarettes and never comes back LMFAO

thats cause they aren't desperate for money, if they were actually greedy they would try much harder, also Valve is not a huge company, what they make is huge but Vavle itself does not have thousands of empoloyees i would be impressed if they even had 100.

If the game is losing 10K a month because of people leaving because of cheaters but it would cost 50k a month to hire people and develop an anticheat ? from my point of view valve seems like such a greedy and idc mentality company it's insane, valve doesn't care about money but the only update are to add more skins to buy, valve doesn't care about money but take huge taxes on people that publish video game on steam because they have a monopoly. Valve doesn't bother working on thei game because they know the dyhard cs fans won't move anyway

They only care about making money from skins and people opening cases. 75% of the players could leave and never touch the game again and it wouldn't make a difference because the 25% that are left are steady going to be opening cases for videos, doing trade ups, etc. and they will still make cash hand over fist.

Valve had no choice with CS:GO and CS2 because of their monetization model. I’m not defending that as a practice, but had they kept the games separate, the skin ecosystem would have tanked completely. Either you create duplicates, allow skins to be migrated, or simply replace the game. In either of the first two cases, you vastly inflate or split the market, which tanks prices.

As the same way the skins have maintained, they could just do what Garrys Mod does, a beta branch for 64 bit and the official uses 32 bit, it uses the same appid, so the skins would have been the same on both games. they could have easily put CS2 has default and CSGO as a "beta preview", which is where is currently still available, they simply abandoned support for CSGO simply because of the state of CS2, they couldn't be working at 2 games at the same time maintaining them, we would see even less updates that we see nowadays, and the infraestructure cost for both official matchmaking servers wouldn't make sense

Agree that lootboxes is a very outdated scheme. It makes it worse for Valve games since it’s the OLDER version of lootboxes where you need to randomly get the crate first before having to buy the key to unlock it (as opposed to the industry-standard gacha-style lootboxes where you don’t need to buy a separate key to open a crate when you can just get the crate itself directly purchased and opened)

I have never seen more pathetic company who makes extremely good games just to abandon them

I am so burnt out on FPS games right now. I have thousands of hours in CS and R6, among other comp fps titles, and everywhere I go right now is infested with cheaters. The moment you start gaining MMR, the odds of facing hackers goes up and up and up. All my life I have been a comp FPS player, but lately, i have found myself not wanting to play any of my favorite games because I know I will just face hackers. Hunt, r6,cs,cod, everything I try has cheaters. I try to go back to old games: cheaters. I try new ones: cheaters. what is going on?

I don't play any FPS shooters anymore but back before when Valorant released, a couple months after, I started playing and got hooked. After over a decade of CS, it was a great breath of fresh air where the servers felt good, the gunplay was responsive, peekers advantage was not nearly as bad as CS, and the community wasn't toxic (at least in the way of CS). Best of all, MAYBE one cheater in the hundreds of hours I pumped into the game. I stopped playing games altogether, but returned when CS2 came out to see if it can bring me back. Fourth game in, found a cheater. Fifth game, found a cheater. Both blatent. I gave up. It's clear the game was rushed out to compete with Valorant's encrouchment on their territory. This isn't a shill about what game is better than the other, but one certainly feels a whole lot better playing it because of some issues Riot addressed that Valve can't seem to address. No gambling and no cheating. Valve can make great games but fuck if they can't support them well. It's always the community that needs to do ALL the heavy lifting. Third party anti-cheat, making their skins, events, etc. Take off the rose tinted glasses, Valve is not nearly as good as people think they are AS GAME DEVELOPERS.

Thinking about this from a business staindpoint, and the talk about AI anticheat, I can't say with 100% certainty what valve is doing. BUT, It takes time, and more specifically training data (hacker demos) to develop an AI anticheat. The more time, and the more hackers present, the more accurate it will be. Also, it does not make sense from a business standpoint to release a game, then abandon the game within six months. It's a horrible investment of resources, and when anticheat is the primary issue with people leaving the game, they know it will cost them to never implement. Call it copium, but the current outlook of "release cs2 and instantly abandon it" genuinely doesn't make sense.

Unless Valve uses an invasive anticheat, with strong penalties, ip/hardware bans, this will always be, another solution is adding identity to your steam account, passport/driving license or similar depending on where you're based, then you got issues like people young who don't have access to this, risk of data leaks, preferential/back end treatment. CSGO had a lot of cheats, FACEIT has a lot of cheats, ESEA had a lot of cheats, people will always cheat. This is going to make zero difference, if these "streamers" think overwise, they need a serious reality check, most of them are completely mediocre players, if that, let alone entertainers/influences. EVERY GAME HAS CHEATS, even Valorant with how good/invasive their anti cheat is. Retail CS, 1.6, CSS didn't have as many issues people you was either pugging or you was playing properly, generally around 3rd party anticheats or in select/known scenes where there was accountability and reputation. Now the majority is just people pugging chasing an irrelevant elo/rating, because they don't wanna play properly or don't have the time too, I'm not on about the road to just chasing a contract somewhere or some sponsers, playing in teams vs teams, competing, at all levels, the infrastucture just isn't there anymore, it's ALL about pugging. Removing elo/rating, removes a lot of cheaters trying to get higher in an irrelevant ladder/number, removes the stress for a lot of people facing or enduring it whilst pugging. Add in some option so you can forfeit without a timeout penalty if you end up in a game with a group which has cheats if you can't vote off if you're outnumbered. Or simply just play with stacks, 9/10 times you'll face other stacks which is surely better odds than not. Play on 3rd party as it's slightly more secure, wasn't an issue before, it's shouldn't be now. Even with how bad it is, with how accessible they seem to be, without much penalty, remember, a lot of people calling out cheats are below/average players with limited experience and gamesense, I'm not talking hours you've experienced in this or similar fps, I'm talking playing properly, it's a team based shooter and 90% of the playerbase now, are simply puggers/mixers. Not everyone who frags you, or outgames you, or catches you out is cheating a lot of people need to realise that before spitting dummy out. Only thing which will get Valve even thinking about this is, a HUGE loss of player traffic or a HUGE loss to the market which ain't gonna happen. This genius releases a statement saying he's quitting and not supporting them game and also relases content about opening cases.

The issue with Valve as a developer is that their money don't depend on their games, it doesn't even affect its economy in the slightest because of how much money they make with Steam

Valve always was a silent / non communicative company and while this isn't a good thing it also wasn't an issue because things generally worked ok. But valve didn't adress this issue at all. And it wouldn't be an issue if they had fixed this few months after the release but the game is out for longer than just that. Also the ranking system in MM is broken. If you were a global with 1.4 kd and on faceit 3k elo level you now are in silver/gold nova and nearly no one is above MG ranks. They broke so many things.

I totally agree, 360 employees total. That includes the management, HR, infrastructure. So I suppose they probably have a handful of people capable of designing a antiCheat. With so many games and Dota I am not surprised that they are not able to work on it. Maybe they should hire a external team for a while to take care of it.

The player count can be easily explained by cheating being a non-issue. No one really cares about a few cheaters here and there, especially if it means we can avoid a virus-like anticheat. The only reason a bunch of youtubers are complaining about this is because they know it will get views. Cstube is beholden to the youtube algorithm above all, and this is them trying to farm it for views.

Recently it got really bad. Its not just a few cheaters. 1 out of 3 games you can get cheaters. Or less or more depending on your rank. For me i rather have a virus like anticheat than have to play against cheaters. I dont really care how invasive the antycheat is.

Better to always have very low expectations for corporations. Then, if they do something they are supposed to do, like maintain competitive integrity for a game, then you just tell them good job on doing the bare minimum. Understandably though, anti-cheat is a difficult thing.

It's actually crazy how bad the chearing problem is. I was so excited for cs2, I didn't have to play valorant anymore, and could play the OG. The first fucking game I play is going great and we're winning. Half time strikes, T's bottom frag gets an ace on pistol. Starts going crazy, hits nearly impossible shots every instance he runs into players. Went from the freest kill on the enemy team to their top frag. Shit like this happens like every 3-5 games GUARANTEED. Valve is a billion dollar company, they gotta do better

I agree with what you hinted at. Anomaly not playing premier does absolutely nothing. Anomaly suspending his skinsmonkey affiliation and calling for people to stop interacting with skins until Valve does meaningful action against cheaters - well that might just have impact. And if most content creators did that, then Valve would have the issue solved rather quickly. People who are into skins but do not play the game are the best case for Valve.

Kernel level anti-cheat is in a lot of games as is, Riot was just public about it. Easy Anti-Cheat is kernel level and it is not nearly as good as Vanguard when it comes to detection.

This shows that either Valorant got so big Valve doesn't want to but in the effort anymore or it didn't get big enough and they don't feel pressure to change stuff fast enough.
