Tbh, If MADHOUSE had not omitted many, many things from the novel, Overlord would have been almost like Tensura with entire chapters of dialogue and perhaps each season would have had more than 20 chapters, Overlord is the perfect example of what happens when you skip a lot of dialogue to go directly to the action (I'm not complaining about Tensura, I actually like episodes like that that focus on world building, I would have really liked to see episodes like that in Overlord since it has an extremely interesting world) It is noticeable that with Frieren they did not make the same mistake of omitting many things as they did in Overlord, since Frieren had very chill/dialogue focused episodes that were also very enjoyable, at least 8-Bit Studio is mostly respecting Tensura´s original material and giving world building the episodes it deserves (although they have also omitted some other information and events like how Shion got Razen, Edmaris and Reyheim turned into meat masses, that was really disturbing to read)

Lupa lmao. Just a notice guys, the whole arc is a lot of talking and meetings really, and some action will probably be 5/24 episodes on average with dragged dialogue. Tbh I think that the route the Studio takes will probably be more and more talking to save for the action heavy stuff. I'm just letting you know so that in the long run you won't get disappointed, the manga rn is just all about talking now so that's what will be in the anime even past this season, this is your average isekai so don't get your expectations too high.

i heard the author actually didn't care about the action, he just want to make world building and diplomatic story so the easiest way to do it is to get isekai first. the action is just cherry on top. but yeah, for the anime i think its probably to save budget for the action because its isekai after all. i mean, no way they can't just make the dialogue faster a little bit right? they somehow talk more slowly, the camera movement also getting slow, and put some unfunny part on the dialogue to stall more time.

How long exactly is this long run? Because if it takes more than 50% of the show, that's way too long. Especially since the dialogue scenes have no good animation or cinematography.

@@PrinterThorn let's just say, I estimate the actions will start at about episode 19 then dialogue then short actions. After this arc (this season), the entirety of the next arc is all talk with some short bursts of "action" (because it's like just showcases of some people's abilities, which means actions that last 30 seconds) and yes, this is reactors' worst nightmare.

To be fair I'm not dooming the series, I'm just saying that in the long run, the manga strayed to a dialogue heavy story (which it is in the first place tbh), and in turn, the anime will do the same. I'm saying that don't expect Slime to be a Shounen anime, because at this point forward, it is not.

Lupa's reaction towards the end has been my reaction to this season of slime so far

you know the fight is cool and all but the part where they just yapp is what i enjoyed more about this series

People called Veldora the Evil Dragon but it's actually a condition he has to live with, he didn't really mean to destroy things.

Gonna be a West Wing type of season for the Slime Anime. I'm sure they prolly explained why Rimuru just doesn't take Veldora into his belly to let off some steam in the LN, doubt they'll cover it here though.

Even in the manga...this is the world building part...it's discussion saga

I will say there will be lots of world building stuff for this season setting the up stuff and showing off most everything west of Tempest depend how much they are going to cover for the season because im not sure if they are going off the light novel or manga but there is a lot of world building.

i think they are going to do LN V7-9 for this season and if the side show is pick up for the next season. then it mite take up some of the other parts of the LN and LN V8.5

It also doesn't help that a good chunk of the exposition is just different groups learning the same thing. Half of the dialogue is "Woah, Rimuru's a Demon Lord and is in cahoots with Veldora! Woah, Rimuru wiped out an army!"

Unpopular opinion but I like the meeting episodes and think they’re extremely necessary. If you can’t take in all the information then that’s just on you. 😂 This will make the fighting scenes feel more precious and awaited. This isn’t shounen jump after all, even though season 2 had a good amount of fighting.

Ehh.HxH succession war arc is far more complex and way more yappy than this, but the dialogues are inherently interesting and extremely important to the storyline. It’s also delivered maturely. What you see here is very juvenile writing and very poor pacing. Has nothing to do with attention span, everything to do with presentation. There’s a reason why season 1 was interesting despite its lengthy expositions. It was more digestible.

I'm just wondering if the story will get interesting at one point because the biggest issue is that these talks are just very boring, the characters and the church overall are completely uninteresting and the stakes are really low for so much build up. I really don't know how this season can be good apart from the fights

The purpose of the ferst half of this season is to step up the events that will happen later, i estimated lt to be mostly the second cour.

talking episodes of slime are really really nice as you get to know stuff, remembering all of it ain't necessary as some times it's all about the things that happened in the past and now what to do about it, and once the plot moves, it is DUE to these meetings, then it feels good to have lived through all of those meetings

I'm honestly here for the exposition. I get it, everyone's got a different appetite for it and some viewers have had enough. I just happen to find the people figuring out other's plots, building up potential disasters, and introducing new characters is interesting to me. Not to say I'm not chomping at the bit for some action, but for me Slime's world-building has always been a big draw, and Tempest's impact on the prior status quo cannot be understated.

Episode 6 should be action. This season is primarily going to be setup for the second half of the series which will have much more action.

Better get used to meetings and heavy dialogue because that's like 90% of Tensura. I get Roshi's suggestion but it wouldn't work at all. Why? Because there's already a ton of important exposition, explanations, inner monologue they cut out of fights themselves...there's no time to add previously needed scenes. They don't need to change that there's a lot of meetings, heck they cut a decent amount out of these meetings some of which is really important info. The animation staff need to storyboard and direct the scenes in a visual engaging way for the average viewers.

​@@boi1127The problem is Studio 8 bit decided after first season to adapt only 2-3 volume LN while most LN sources anime like Re-Zero and Mushoku Tensei adapt 5-6 volume. Which is probably pretty bad decision in my opinion as different medium between LN and Anime make the translation and level of enjoyment every event become boring in anime.

Roshi, the aspect of why we're shown these, events of their conversations, like this... -- is because there's so many more important characters involved off screen or characters that have major involvement with rimuru, later in the story. and they're being introduced while the creator wanted to keep introductions and hints of things, out there, while sorta brief while still giving the viewers interest in what's to occur later.. so everything we're shown so far was important aspects... we can further investigate while we watch through the arcs, because as the story progresses we're given more missing pieces to the story.

Yo when ever you guys have time y'all should check out Fog hill of five elements. It's a Chinese anime with some of the most badass fights & characters you will ever see.

The problem people forgot here is that while Slime Isekai has action, it’s not even remotely an action genre akin to My Hero Academia or Dragon Ball Z. At its core? It’s actually a civilisation builder/political intrigue genre story with a few sprinkles of meaningful combat. Slime Isekai has honestly NEVER been an action genre or adventure genre story, people tend to misunderstand it is just because the early parts of the series has a modicum of fighting.

To be fair, and I know you guys dont really look at comments, but this season has A LOT of new information because we will get introduced to a lot of people, enemies, concepts and also a bunch of new shit Rimuru does. The Light Novel handles it perfectly but its horrible to translate into the anime because they have to convey the information somehow and the only way they can is making the meetings longer than what they usually are (usually due to flashbacks or unnecessary transition animations).

He does have a very handy country full of stupidly strong monsters that are loyal to the death and beyond though, so that certainly helps

The fact that they are still cutting off minor details, and still these episodes are mainly focused on meetings just tells how big the world of slime actually is, the politics is crazy. And about there being a better way of doing it, I'm totally with you. Instead of focusing on the meeting room, they should focus on the visual, of showing us of what they are talking about more. Show not tell.

Light novel reader here, no spoilers of course: There's a lot of interesting stuff to come, but I don't know why they're spending so much time these on back-to-back meetings. Maybe I'm misremembering but I don't think it was this exposition-heavy in the LN. I really hope they speed things up going forward, cuz, at this rate, most of the interesting stuff won't come up till the second half of the season.

It was this heavy, because of all the scheming and geo-political construct. And it will be as much in the future arcs as well. But that is the beauty of this. The geo-political scheming. But it's certainly understandable why some people might find it boring. Especially in recent years were fights are more important than stories.

It was this exposition heavy in the LN too. You can skip parts and it would have made sense regardless. The only info you really need is if everyone else is either interested to form relations with Tempest or antagonistic to Tempest.

And this is why I dropped the light novel after the festival. Compared to the web novel Fuze wrecked the pacing and the story devolved into "That Time I Got Reincarnated in a Meeting". His writing might have become better and the new fluff adds to the world, but the web novel handled exposition much better (more show than tell).
