Hidden Figure (2016) is a very inspirational movie and it's educational because it highlights the names of 3 african American women who were vital to NASA and space exploration that a lot of people didn't know.

I was so thrilled watching this because when I was young my mother would often talk to me about their remarkable story. You see I'm Hispanic of Puerto Rican desend and my mother in 1958 became the first Hispanic R.N. nurse in New York City and in 1964 the supervising nurse after 23 years at a Manhattan hospital she than left to a hospital in Boston to be the director of nurses there. My mother is truly amazing and is my hidden figure. ❤️
This movie came out when I was eight and my mom took us to see it in theaters, I was appalled by how these women were treated just because they have darker skin. That is what inspired me to always defend people no matter who they were.

Black woman are so strong and beautiful. Honestly, I can't believe at one point people went as low as to not like us just because of it.
I love this movie. However I would like to see a movie done on Andrew Higgens. The man who made the landing crafts for WW2. Even though Andrew Higgins was a white man in Louisiana. He had a completely integrated work force during WW2. Which was unheard of at that time. Andrew Higgins also made sure that all of his workers regardless of color or ethnic background made the same wages for the same work.

Good point but they dont want to tell thst story cause its itrelevant to their agenda.
When you judge people based on color and stereotypes, you wind up blocking things that could be beneficial to the world. Our creator put us here with all types of capabilities, regardless of skin color. Once we realize that, we can do so much more for our world. ❤
Damn... I was NOT expecting THAT!! Reading the credits at the end was hard... my eyes were too full. I had no idea, so my thanks to you for the education 🙂... wonderful... what an amazing woman. For info... I'm a 66 yr old English guy... White... as if it made a difference! It's incredible just how devisive the US was back then... even more incredible is that the US is on a direct path right back to those times! Utterly incredible.
It really brings me to tears the injustice that ppl of color have to be exceptional to be recognized. Great movie to tell it like it is. Much respect to all involved in telling this story.

In truth, Katherine got to use the white bathroom because she looked more white than black. I live in Jamaica and showed her picture to 4 Jamaicans, and they all said she was white. The other 2 had to go 800 yards. That said, this is such a great story.
I just watched this true story and it saddens me that other people treated other people this way. As a quaker I've always look at other people as human beings and treated everyone with dignity and respect regardless of skin color or gender or religious beliefs. We have come along way but we have a long way to go. Our creator made us to love and care for each other it instilled in us from birth but we must be taught to hate each other because that is the devil's work. Do one act of random kindness everyday regardless of how small it might be and bring no harm but defend those who can't defend themselves.
Very inspiring, hope this movies gives motivation to everyone out there who is struggling and being discriminated

Btw The girls in real life story didn't had to run 800m to go to the washroom, Katherine Johnson said herself in her interview, so it's just a storyline added in the movie and this video to attract people's attention towards it. There were washrooms for them labeled with "Coloured Girls" If you all know

Well yes and no. The timing is off and it was MARY who experienced having to run to the Black bathroom, not Katherine.
All of the women lived a long life making it into the 2000s Mary Jackson died first in 2005 at the age of 83 Dorothy Vaughan died 2nd in 2008 at the age of 98 And Katherine Johnson outlived both of them by over a decade, dying just recently in 2020 at the age of 101

we watched in this math class my senior year. lowkey brought tears to my eyes being a color man myself. when class ended i wanted to stay and keep watching.
I hate/love this movie for two reasons: racism, and how our people were treated even when benefiting everyone and having the knowledge and skills above our peers. And secondly, the fact that so many young black children have desire or direction to achieve what our ancestors have when they honestly had it so much worse. They would roll in their graves to see us today.

This also shows how women empowerment should be like, in a field where there is no distinction between men and women.
There is power in black people. It is not about color. It is the mind
