You need the hof pass for the 15% xp boost, but it will still work without might have to play an extra game or two to hit 40

for this method yes you must. But to be honest if you just have the pro or hof battlepass and put on your double XP token you will go up 1 level every REC game on next gen

if you only have next gen just get the pro or the HOF battlepass and put a double XP token and you will go up 1 level every game while playing REC on next gen
