    It's true. "Dark sounding" Trap usually just means VI-V-I, in a minor key, over and over lol. With some variety here and there with the IV of course.

    To make it obvious which one is major and minor then you should write major ones in uppercase (e.g. IV) and minor ones in lower case (e.g. iii)

    @@missymelonbeats Can I ask a stupid question as someone that's three entire days into learning how to produce using Logic and have only played guitar by ear: why are we not just indicating chords by their letter?

  • @missymelonbeats

    @missymelonbeats

    Жыл бұрын

    @@rileyxsko that's not a stupid question. You could do that. But it's because it makes it easier to play that chord progression in ANY key:) You just count the steps no matter what key you are in.

    Lol I always looked at is as 1 - 7 - 6 in the Natural Minor rather than 6 5 4 in the Major Scale. Same shit I guess, but the way you write afterwards is affected by it. I should start looking at it as 6 5 4 instead of 1 7 6, may inspire some new counter melodies.

    @@yayadean38 @3:10 you are incorrect. The 3 chord is a Major. 1, 4 and 5 are the only minor chords in Aeolean. 3,6 and 7 are major. 2 is diminished. Also, harmonic minor is when you sharpen the 7th note. You sharpened the 5th note.

    @@yayadean38 meaning what exactly? The notes of the key remains the same on the context of harmonic minor. You can't just raise the 3rd note of the fifth chord just because you started on the 6. For example, The notes in A minor are: A, B, C, D, E, F, G The notes in A melodic minor are: A, B, C, D, E, F, G# If you start on the 6 of the natural minor, you are basicly in F lydian. How then does it become melodic minor from there when lydian is the brightest mode of them all? The 5 of F is C. I'm either gonna learn something new here. Please explain how you made the C the dominant 7 of F and then called it melodic minor? Where do you get the B flat to make C7?
