My guess is that Ru doesn't want to match the theme, because then her looks would be compared to the queens' looks... and we all know she would be outshined every week. An interesting dive, I'd totally be up for a similar one for normal seasons!

I disagree. Raja and Raven (or whoever may be replacing one of the two for a couple episodes) always dress for the runway theme for Fashion Photo Review, yet I've never seen anyone compare their looks to the runways. It's festive for a host to participate in the theme of the episode. Not doing so feels somewhat lazy and disinterested.

They “match” but don’t go all out; it’s more out of their current wardrobe. And sometimes (often at some point), Raven wears this bikini t-shirt.

I feel like ru's look for the art ball this season was watercolour inspired so that fits

For the regular seasons, I can actually only think of 3 on the top of my head. The gold/silver/platinum look Ru wore for S4E3. This one stands out to me because of the comment Ru made about The Princess being in an almost identical look to hers. The S7E1 look were Ru’s nude illusion gown was really creative and fun. This look also showed that Ru could easily (at least at that time) outshine a lot of the queens with her gowns. Lastly, the ball look Ru wore on S10E4 for the Martian eleganza. To me, that look Ru had on especially with the mask felt tailor-made for the category. I might’ve missed other times on regular seasons where Ru actually matched the category, but to me those looks really isn’t that memorable.

I would kind of include the Rollergirl runway from S8 here. Sure, the actual look she wore wasn’t on theme, but the fact that middle aged Rupaul actually roller skated down the runway in a floor length dress is pretty impressive and deserves some credit.

The main season look the always comes to mind for me is the Season 3 rock singing challenge (which you showed in this video).

Imagine a category where ru slays the runway and steals focus from the girls. I think the reason was to give highlight on the girls runway package rather than to ru i mean everywhere you look there's rupaul, so i don't mind that at all but sometimes it's too much too. Plus i think it's easier for her team to just dress up ru in random fashionable ensembles.

No I did not. All Stars 3's promo theme was Glitter and Gold - Ru is just in gold. :)

First of all i would totally be down for a version of this video for the regular seasons, one that comes to mind because of the context is when there was a futuristic/global warming ball in season 10 and concided that Ru had a skin allergic reaction of some kind and thus she wasn't able to wear any makeup and because of that she decided to match the theme of the runaway and wear a facekini with black glasses and a cone pony tail with you can agree that it wasn't exactly on the theme, but it was fun seeing her also be a litte weird in her look especially in a episode where one of the categories was futuristic and was a good episode overall because was the first time he had a early season ball with 43 looks, monet's solo lipsync to pound the alarm, it was everything.

oh no! you left one look out, to my opinion, the one that matches the category of the episode the best, and also, my favorite Ru look of all times.
