    I wish they could've showed them debating between Demidov and Levshunov just to hear their reasoning and a little about the attempted trade up.. maybe even just hear Davidson throw out the idea before the draft just to hear the conversation about the pros and cons about it. I get they don't want to talk about a player they didn't take, but I just would've loved to hear the scouts battle for Levshunov.

    Every time I see Brian Campbell continuing to help this organization, my respect for him grows! Though he seems to avoid the spotlight, favoring to go about his business instead. His efforts are certainly worthy of one. The Blackhawks' alumni group, over time, has got to rank very high for having a positive impact after playing the game among hockey's best teams.

    Brian Campbell's importance is illustrated by his seating immediately left of KD at the pre-final meeting at the beginning of this clip. I suspect he is an excellent judge of talent and his opinion is highly respected.

    Id love to hear a player that turned out well say something about how they improved bc of him specifically. My mind isnt made up about him as a front office/coaching person based on the lack of growth our past offensive defensemen that he was highly involved with: boqvist, beaudin, jokiharju, etc

    From 4:20 - 4:40, who is the prospect being interviewed at the combine? As an aside, Sacha Boisvert's command of English is exceptional for someone who began learning the language only four years ago. He barely has any French or Quebecois accent.

    While I liked the Blackhawks draft in general I can’t help but think they gave away 3 second round picks for no real reason. The Blackhawks intel of what other teams are doing seems to be poor. Last season other GM’s saved Davidson from himself as he tried to give away assets to draft Oliver Moore when he didn’t have to. The move from 20 to 18 and 54 to 50 giving up 61 makes little sense as well. Boisvert and Vanacker were both going to be available at 20. They were literally thinking about taking Vanacker at 18! He went 27th. I believe they unnecessarily gave away three second round picks in this draft!

  • @SARCASMlC

    @SARCASMlC

    60% of second round picks don't play 100 NHL games in their career. I think moving up to 18 was more of them wanting to package 18 with next years pick to move up to 4, but obviously that didn't pan out. Might've lost out a bit trying to swing for the fences there, but I can't fault the attempt. As far as moving 34/50 for 27, I love that move. We only lost the 50th OA pick and got a guy we loved (and a player we should have more intel on than the rest of the NHL considering he's lived with Lardis for the past year). My scalding hot take is Vanacker looks like a top 10 pick next year when he's healthy. He led a good OHL team in points with a torn labrum and we drafted him because he works his ass off every shift doing all the grimy work required to win NHL games. If that torn labrum was holding him back at all, he's going to be an absolute steal at 27.

    As a Hawks fan I hope you’re right. Carolina a good drafting team took Dominik Badinka and Nikita Artamonov with those two picks. Two players that were routinely mocked as first rounders. Is Vanacker going to outperform both of those players combined? We won’t know for years but it will be interesting to watch. The move to 18 was totally unnecessary. The Golden Knights and Islanders were thrilled to get Connelly and Eiserman at 19 and 20. Both of those players were rated higher than Boisvert. Boisvert would have absolutely been there for Chicago at 20. Again Davidson gave up an asset unnecessarily just like he was willing to do last season trying to trade up for Moore when he didn’t have to.
