Doakes wouldn't sympathize if he saw the ritual. Since he himself is a bit of a vigilante too he would've see the kill justified, but it's execution is a product of a sick mind. Should also be noted I think that while Dex's action is noble his intention is not, he kill to fulfill his bloodlust, the 'must be a bad guy' thing is just a prerequisite planted by his dad.

Started out good, then Dexter made a bunch of dumb mistakes and was actually caught and brought to the small town police station. He then kills a cop to escape. It then teased us with Batista returning after he got a phone call by the Cop ex. GF and he was supposed to go there and extradite/bring Dexter back to Miami to stand trial where it all began which would have been cool to see them interact again, but then he just never showed up and Dexter was then killed anticlimactically by his own son with a single gun shot. Like how do you screw up that badly? Teasing us with something that never happens? Not only that, but the way his new GF on the show found out was stupid too. Somehow the likes of Lundy couldn't figure it out but somehow she did through plot convenience. It was a shit show.

But after that (TV rules I guess) he kills them with a knife to the heart before he starts cutting them up. In the books? They are all alive. Sometimes still talking while he's working. He pulls out the cling film without gloves on. 😂. Wow a Fingerprint can be easily taken of Cling film . Also when you dont use gloves to hold one end of Duck Tape while sticking down plastic sheeting on a wall a Fingerprint will be on the sticky side and the Top side, This Show was just Hilariously Badly Done. The Crime scenes were abundant with Fingerprints and DNA and foot prints, Also wearing your daily clothes No Hair Net etc also contaminated the crime scene. In the UK He would have been caught within 4 Days,
