The first four of these happened within eight weeks of each other.
So fun how you can notice the announcers being more excited about these plays as time goes on

Good observation. Announcers are now much more aware of the magnitude of the moment they’re calling in real time.

Yup, 3 Rangers! 😁 Glad to see them getting the recognition, but it's because they won the WS last yr, and MLB seems to show more clips of the current (the previous yr) champs, maybe a clause in its network contract, to promote or show more of that team, in the next season, Idk. 🤷

Wow, I would never have thought there were that many just since 2010. When Langford hit his yesterday the Rangers color analyst thought they would come up with some unique stat, but turns out it happens all the time. Even 2 other Rangers have done it since 2010.

Baseball is awesome like that. They say "you see something new every time you watch a ball game," but they don't tell you that sometimes you've seen it a few times - you just forgot! 😂

I'm in favor of renaming "inside-the-park homeruns" to "quadruples" so they're easier to say.
The Dansby Swanson one reminded me that Trea Turner used to play in the outfield sometimes
Didn't realize it was this common. Crazy
Congratulations to Langford for such an incredible moment to start off his career!! Go World Series Champions Texas Rangers!!

Ah man! And I was debating on going to either that April 28th game or the 27th the day before and we chose the 27th. Damn. 😂
Three Texas Rangers on this list. Wow.
I miss Craig Gentry so much. So fast. Good defense. Even better person.
crazy that Campana's homer was the only homer of his career
That Harper throw on Swanson's homer tho...
If I hear one more announcer say “dived,” I might lose it.

According to Merriam-Webster, both 'dived' and 'dove' are acceptable.
The Last 2 were Rangers💪💯

I remember seeing Bill Buckner, of all people, hit an inside the park HR.

Buckner before his knees gave out was a decently fast guy, definitely more mobile. It’s just that his most remembered moment has to do with his lack of knees layer on.

does anyone know the answer to the question at the end abt the number of players that have done this?

Wow the first 4 all in 2011 and within 2 months thats insane
so many in 2011

What were they eating in 2011???

4 replays of Gentry's?
How many of these would have been called errors had they not been potential first inside the parkers for these players
@ryanaltfillisch7155
Ай бұрын
The only one you could make a legitimate case that should have had an error was Connor Gillaspie with the Giants. Otherwise, all of the others involve big/weird bounces off the wall or players diving and missing, which don't count as errors.
@TinKnight
Ай бұрын
All inside-the-park HR's, & nearly all triples, require poor defensive play. Neither stat would really exist if they blamed poor effort instead of the very strict requirement of handling the ball poorly.
@Josh-ut4wv
Ай бұрын
@@TinKnight With Triples to not be that you have to either A have an odd bounce off of a wall or b have a stadium that has some part that makes the feat a bit easier (which there is like only one of those since Tal's Hill was removed at Minute Maid.)
@TinKnight
Ай бұрын
@@Josh-ut4wv Exactly. There are a few parks where the right launch angle, EV, baserunner speed, & outfielder positioning can make a "natural" triple possible, but overwhelmingly, you can't have triples nor inside-the-parkers without defensive screw-ups.
@Josh-ut4wv
Ай бұрын
@@TinKnight yeah like the Giants have Triples alley which is your best chance sure if coors was bigger that would actually be the best chance but the issue is they want HRs there.

The SF outfielders were positioned as if Altuve had zero power.
Great to see Mariners legend Mike Carp in the Craig Gentry clip. He’s the 3rd best fish outfielder of the era behind Mike Trout and Tim Salmon.

The vast majority of "inside the park homeruns" should actually be singles or doubles with subsequent errors on the fielders. Still exciting plays but there is no reality in which those should be considered home runs.

Im surprised that there are no royals on here, given how we had several fast runners with little power. Also, congrats to Zach Mckinstry's brother, Kool-Aid, for getting drafted to the nfl Edit: i guess aoki did play for the royals, but his first homer was for the brewers, so it doesnt count
