I agree with Wendy. This sketch format is a great vehicle for impressions. Even if someone has basically five funny seconds of an impression, they can still add it to the mix and use it.

Lemme tell ya, Hader's impression of Harvey Fierstein was so spot-on that even though I have never heard that actor's name before, I immediately knew Hader was doing the guy from Mrs. Doubtfire.

I was in a play a few years ago and last minute they wanted me to play a bigoted character, a small role for a scene, and I couldn't say the f-word(to two men i knew were gay irl) without tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't separate reality from fiction. And eventually they took me off that role. I don't understand how actors can play roles like that without feeling a piece of them dying.

Haders Alan Alda is probably the best impression of anyone I’ve seen. Just excellent.
They should do this for the 50th Anniversary special with cast and alum playing each other auditioning for the show throughout it's 50 years.

SNL is currently in its 49th season, and, as far as I know, there hasn't been an announcement that the show will end. I can definitely see the idea of "Rejected SNL cast member auditions" being a sketch on either the 50th anniversary special or the show's 1000th episode (it's currently on its 957th episode. Only 43 more to go).
Jay Pharoah killed it as Tracy Morgan “Wait a minute, you a woman!?” 😂
The Kristen Stewart one is funnier when you know that Fifty Shades is based on a Twilight fanfiction 😂

Saturday Night Live is a sketch comedy show. If the performers can't perform impressions, they get cut. Why do people get fired from SNL? They can't perform current impressions or write new material.

Bill is just so good in his impressions, its mind-blowing. they're never bad! he literally captures the voice inflexions, mannerisms, modulations perfectly - it's like he literally becomes the person. i love it!

I don't know why Taram Killam isn't a huge star. Can't even understand why he got fired from SNL before his time to go. He is one of a kind. His Bobcat, Waltz, and Michael Cera impressions (among others) are perfect.

I know who Alan Alda is, but never knew his name, just mostly the voice-Bill Hader is so good, I IMMEDIATELY knew who he was supposed to be without any context.
Bill Hader is amazing no matter what he does, it’s literally incredible. For someone who didn’t even want to pursue acting, he is unbelievably talented. He’s my hero!!

Hader's Alda is uncannily spot on. No one could ever pry me away from MASH as a kid. And I love the man's work after MASH too. Hader is such a talent and he and Alan are both legends, in my mind anyway.
That Jane Lynch impression was awesome. And of course Alan Alda was spot on.
Just love the idea that these celebrities auditioning just REFUSE to break from their established characters, no matter what the role, no matter what the moment.
These are so great. Kenan’s Sinbad is such a deep cut. Have a feeling a lot of people won’t get that one but he crushes it
