ALL Mandalorian Clans Explained for Mandalorian Season 2!
In Mandalorian Culture, Mandalorians are organized into groups known as Clans. Usually these clans are based only on family connection, but in some cases, these clans can contain members that aren’t related or are even different species, like Clan Mudhorn, with Din Djarin and the Child. Each clan then further falls under a Mandalorian house, or a political faction which most aligns with their values.
So to start off, we have the most recently formed Mandalorian Clan in Canon, Clan Mudhorn.
Clan Mudhorn was formed during the New Republic era after a The Child, or Baby Yoda was able to save the life of Din Djarin, while he was engaged in a ferocious battle with a native beast from Arvala-7, the Mudhorn. Din Djarin now serves as the leader of Clan Mudhorn, with the Child becoming a founding member of the Clan. The signet of Clan Mudhorn was of course a depiction of the Mudhorn that the two defeated, marking the beginning of their very strong relationship. Since their clan was officially recognized by the armor inside of the dark Mandalorian enclave, the homeworld of Clan Mudhorn is Nevarro.
Next is Clan Vizsla.
Clan Vizsla is currently the oldest known Mandalorian Clan in Canon, being founded even before the modern Galactic Republic was created.
The earliest known member of Clan Vizsla was a force sensitive man named Tarre Vizsla. After Tarre Vizsla’s force sensitivity was discovered, he was very quickly inducted into the Jedi Order as the first Mandalorian to ever be allowed to join. During his time in the Jedi order, Tarre Vizsla created an incredibly unique, dark weapon, called the Darksaber. The darksaber quickly became a symbol of leadership for House Vizsla and eventually gave Tarre Vizsla the power to rule all of mandalore. After his death however, the Darksaber was very soon stolen out of the secure Jedi temple vault by Mandalorians from House Vizsla during the fall of the Old Republic, and were able to use it to viciously slaughter many Jedi.
By the time of the Clone Wars, all warrior Mandalorians, including Clan Vizsla, were exiled to the Moon of Mandalore, Concordia, where they were believed to have died out. The ones who did survive however, were able to form an extreme Mandalorian Group known as the Deathwatch, with the coal of overthrowing the pacifist leader of Mandalore at the time, Duchess Satine Kryze. Leader of this group, Pre Vizsla was the head of clan Vizsla, as well as house Vizsla because he held the ancient and prized Darksaber. Unfortunately, after working with former Sith Lord Darth Maul and his brother to continue with their plan to overthrow Duchess Satine, Maul challenged him to a traditional Mandalorian battle, where he was unfortunately defeated through a brutal beheading, making Maul the leader of House Vizsla, despite being an outsider. Following this, Maul led Mandalore with the help of his loyal Mandalorian Super Commandos and his top aides, Gar Saxon and Rook Kast, who’s clans I will cover very shortly.
Eventually however, the Republic, led by Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano invaded Mandalore, removing Maul from power following the brutal and horrific siege of Mandalore, once of the final conflicts of the Clone Wars.
Clan Vizsla unfortunately then went silent until deep into the Imperial era, where they resurfaced, voicing their support for Bo-Katan as the new holder of the Darksaber and the leader of Mandalore, after fighting back imperial occupation on their homeworld.
Following that, is Clan Kryze.
Clan Kryze was the ruling clan of Mandalore during the time of the Clone Wars under house Kryze, and was led by Duchess Satine. Also a member of the Clan was Bo-Katan Kryze, but she was of course loyal to the Deathwatch group, led by pre Vizsla.
After Clan Kryze was removed from power by the deathwatch and Clan Vizsla, Duchess Satine was eventually killed by Maul with the Darksaber.
Many years later, after the liberation from Imperial controlled Mandalore, the planet once again came under the control of Clan Kryze, but this time under House Vizsla, with Bo-Katan holding the darksaber and leading Mandalore.
Following that, we have Clan Awaud.
Not much is known about this ancient and very mysterious Mandalorian clan, but we do know that they were led by a man named Chieftain Nam Beroya at the beginning of the Clone Wars and were based on the planet Vlemoth Port. Clan Awaud was led by Nam Beroya until his supposed death, and was succeeded by his adopted daughter Vera Beroya, soon after, making her the new battle-hardened and fierce chieftain of the clan.

Damn. Imagine making your sigil a mudhorn, then you kill a Krayt Dragon a few episodes later. Now you’re stuck with “Mudhorn” as your last name, when it could’ve been “Krayt.”

I prefer Mudhorn because of the story behind it. Din and the foundling killing a mudhorn in the name of the creed. The story behind it itself is about solidarity while the Krayt dragon may seem bigger in game, but the story was not as altruistic as the mudhorn's imo which is Din killing the dragon in order to save a town in Tatooine.

I have three favorite clans in mandalorians. That’s is clan Skirata which is in legends and clan wren which is canon. And of course clan mudhorn. This is the way.

Fortunately they are now canon with the remake of KOTOR! Hopefully the remake takes traction soon as I know it was going through development hell
Korkie is definitely the son of Obi-Wan and Satine. Bo-Katan is Satine’s only sibling and if I’m being honest, Bo-Katan doesn’t exactly seem like the mother type. Also, Bo-Katan was a member of Death Watch they kind of idolized violence so why would she leave her son with her pacifist sister? It doesn’t make any sense. You also can’t deny that Korkie looks a lot like Obi-Wan and Satine and we know they had a thing, so it could’ve happened.

No it isn't, Korkie is the child of 3 sibling that we haven't seen and have virtually no information other than that he/she existed. Most likely died in the Mandalorian Civil War
So happy True Mandalorians are once again canon.

@Cameron Hawthorn The Siege took a few hours but the Nite Owls and Maul’s Supercommandos were at it for an unknown amount of time, and it could be very likely they’d engage one another (like the one battle used to cover Obi-wan’s escape after Maul murdered Satine).
I like clan ordo from the old republic games because they are so cool

In West End Games, Star Wars source material for "Bounty Hunters", there is mention of a Jodo Kast. It states his origin is unknown, but he wears a similar suit to Boba Fett, and used said bounty hunters reputation to get contracts. It is later surmised that this would be his undoing at the hands of Boba Fett, in order to make a point. Anyone using Fett's reputation, better be prepared to die or kill for it.

Couldn't Rook Kast also be of the ominous Clan Rook? Just that her surname and personal name are switched like it is usual in Asia for example.🤔 Also because Wookiepedia says that Clan Rook is a vassal of House Kast, making it even more likely.

But on the other side maybe she is named 'Rook' after her Clan and has the surname of her house 'Kast', making her named in a western fashion. I don't know, that's something we should ask Pablo Hidalgo in a Q&A.🤔

@@jonasb104 in Afrikaans culture (and presumably some other european cultures), the oldest son takes the mothers maiden name as their first name. it could also be something like that which ties her to clan rook. (ie she is the oldest daughter of a couple whose 1 member was part of clan rook)

That one's easy: the Seps pulled out of Onderon once the revolution kicked off in full force. Kalani executed their puppet ruler and simply took off. It's at the end of the Onderon arc.
The Enclave and Navarro. That always makes me think about Fallout 2. The Enclave is the remnants of the U.S government and military after the bombs fell. Navarro is where they re-fueled their vertibirds.

So I haven't seen any of the Clone Wars tv show yet (I know, I'm a bit behind :D) so maybe y'all already realized this, but I just noticed it and thought I'd point it out - Those weird pepper-shaped earing Satine wears are like the horns from the traditional Mandalorian mythosaur skull symbol.
I didn’t like many of the things Death Watch did but I 100% agreed that Satine needed to be removed from office. Satine literally couldn’t protect her planet against a few criminals. And when her life was threatened, she couldn’t even shoot someone to protect a ship from exploding. Her pacifist leadership was taken too fucking far to the point where she wasn’t able to even defend or even lead her planet. It was fucking pathetic. Mandalore needed a new leader but Pre and Maul weren’t the ones lmao.

Ahh this is difficult.... i understand the clans but not the houses.... so are each clan under a house from an oragion or something... or is it just a mandalorian political body being, death wach and new mandalorians then mauuls house wich was like house vizla?... idk

One thing I do wonder is what ever happened to corky after his aunts death and the end of the clone wars cause we don’t see him after his fist few episodes in the first mandalorian arc of the clone wars does he join Bo Katan and fight for his clan and people or was he killed or just went into hiding

In Canon, sadly they aren't Mandalorians as far as we know. In legends, they were part of Clan Fett 😊

Also, something I don't understand about The Mandalorian tv show as it relates to the rest of star wars canon - what's with the "no helmets off" helmet rule? They take their helmets off all the time... Maybe just a tradition with that particular splinter group shown in the tv show?

It's to hide there identity in order to survive as the Armored mentioned, Something to do with if they all kept there helmets on they would look more intimidating seeing that there being hunted down by the empire, Basically it's there strength, But "This is the Way"
