I'd add Dutch kickboxing to the bunch. It's a mix of Western Boxing, Muay Thai, and Kyokushin Karate, with some overlap with Japanese Kickboxing, but more rooted in boxing

​ @Tungdil_01 I second that. I get the impression that most MMA gyms tend to focus on Dutch style for their striking system. The Dutch style is pretty slick, with the footwork of boxing combined with kicks of Muay Thai. The only thing missing is the clinch, which IMO is one of the best aspects of Muay Thai lacking in most other arts.

​@@l3awjawzthe reason Muay Thai clinch isn't focused on to much in MMA is because a good Jujitsu guy can can take the striker down if a striker initiates a Muay Thai clinch. Try it out for yourself against a good grappler

@@l3awjawz Thai clinch is ridiculous, that's why. MMA, which is the sport for those who truly want too be the best fighter, clinching always results in grappling, because that's the best way to fight.

Dutch kick boxing a perfect blend of Muay thai, kyokushin and boxing is a powerful package and was worth mentioning in the video.

It's a off shoot of muay thai, but I'd they mentioned muay boran and lethwei then yes Dutch kickboxing should of been mentioned.

In it's essential dutch kickboxing is japanese kickboxing. They differ mainly in their tactical approach, nothing more. I also like the dutch more.

I think dutch kickboxing should be in the video even though there's no different name for it. Some of those in the video are more similasr between each other than dutch kickboxing is to any of them.

​@@rokuonl2297American kickboxing isn't the same as Dutch/Japanese. American kickboxing came from point karate, but used for full contact, with heavier boxing later in its inception. Dutch/Japanese has always been boxing+MT+kyokushin karate

I believe Savate's kicks seem realistic for the street but it be important to cross train in Muay Thai for it's Elbow & Knee strike that Savate lacks of. But Kickboxers(American Kickboxing) should too cross train in Muay Thai the seem like Savate just sharing what might be effectient!

I'd argue sanshou is actually more grappling then kicking. A lot of famous chinese/russian/iranian sanshou fighters started off with a wrestling or judo/jiujitsu base

@@ninjasolarteam sanshou is 50% shuai jiao, check out some sanshou matches(not sanshou applied in MMA) and you'll see what I mean. A lot of matches ends up being a quick flurry of punches/kicks and delves into wresting for the rest of the round. Its nothing like Muay Thai or Savate

I’ve heard people define Karate as another style of Kickboxing but i wouldn’t truly define it as another kickboxing style and it’s mainly because people have always deemed karate as it’s own specific style of martial art with its own history philosophy and training methods

Yes and no. Any martial art with kicks and punches is considered kickboxing but in a historical sense the word "kickboxing" started in muay thai vs kyokushin karate tournaments in 1950's Japan

Everyone talking about no mention of Dutch kickboxing but it’s just Japanese kickboxing/Kyokushin. I also agree it should have been mentioned regardless.

Muay Dutch or Dutch Muay should be on here. It’s incredibly effective. Ramon Dekkers, Andy Hug, Bas Rutten Dwayne BANG Ludwig. Etc. all killers.

Yaw Yan is considered as Filipino MMA. It surpasses and inspires Jeet Kune do and the full split legs of Taekwondo or Sikaran since they do high kicks. Yaw yan focuses on long range strikes from a far. Yaw Yan is a combined style of kyokushin, goju ryu, jeet kune do as i previously mentioned. Dumog, arnis, judo, aikido and boxing with muay thai and bjj added in its system. Yaw yan has different branch styles like ardigma, buhawi and hybrid. Fervilleon is the traditional style grandmaster fernandez have founded as its own crest and club

Kickboxing was developed by the Japanese by mixing karate, Muay Thai and boxing . Basically they wanted to be able to compete with Thai boxers because karate alone wasn’t good enough to beat a Thai boxer. So no Muay Thai isn’t kick boxing neither is Muay boran, which is advanced and deadly Muay Thai techniques.

dutch kickboxing is essentially muay thai without elbows and advanced clinchwork
