@mikeawesome9212

Wow that's weird because I was JUST thinking of the movie Stuart Little as I was scrolling through the comments and I didn't know M. Night had anything to do with it. The reason I was thinking of Stuart Little was because back in the day me and 4 friends went to see the Sixth Sense but we were all too young so we knew we had to lie about our age. She asked us our birthday and year and my one friend is an idiot so he gave the wrong year even though we discussed it a MILLION times that ya had to say 1983. So he was the only one who couldn't see it but he decided to be a D-Bag because that's what he is and he got a hold of my ticket. Still don't remember how. He wouldn't give it back unless I agreed to go to Stuart Little with him which I ended up doing but I should have just told the employee straight up "this fool took my ticket and won't give it back and he's too young to see Sixth Sense". The good thing was that Stuart Little wasn't too shabby of a movie. I still can't get over the stupidity though. Ya tell someone repeatedly, for hours, "say you were born in 1983" and they still can't get it right.

The twist on Signs is that everyone’s weaknesses were actually strengths in the end. The boy’s asthma closing his airway, the girl’s weird water issue, the brother’s inability to do anything but swing as hard as he could, and the father’s wife dying. His wife’s last words, a sign from God, helped the dad to tie it all together.

I would disagree that the water allergy was "the twist" for Signs. I think, fitting to the title, the twist had more to do with all of the signs throughout the film that protected the family. Things like the asthma, the water glasses around the house, swing away, etc.

Unfortunately, I must disagree. There were plenty of clues to figure out that the aliens didn't like water. When The Village came out, my best friend and I saw it in theatres no less than 17 times (we honestly lost count after that lol)! Each time we saw it, we discovered at least 1 new thing that made different things in the movie make even more sense and made us love the movie more and more each time! Its still one of our favorite movies and we randomly quote it to each other all the time.
The reason some twists are more magical/fantastical has to do with perspective/audience interaction. In movies like Glass, the characters are kept in suspense. It's satisfying to find out the truth, but we all knew there was something more going on. In the Sixth Sense and the Village, there are characters who know a truth we as an audience don't know. It not only answers questions we had, but it answers questions we, including both audience and characters, didn't know we had.
Nothing can top the twist for the Six Sense. That movie is legendary for a reason
@jsmith3946

ya it was so good that a kids show did it first
Glass should've been way higher. The three main characters' deaths just shows how the trilogy was made to tell a story more than it was to grab a dollar. The ending was rather anticlimactic, but it was truly brilliant. People just expected an action movie, which I guess can be blamed on the trailer. One other thing. In this world, the public already knew who the overseer, the horde, and Mr. Glass were, so that gives the viral footage credit.
I love that WatchMojo is saying the "twist" in Signs is the water, and not the fact that Meril's "swing away", the daughter leaving water glasses everywhere, and the son's asthma are all qualities that end up saving their livesand lead Mel Gibson's character back to his faith. The Sixth Sense had the best build and reveal, and was stunning when, as the video says, you go back and see all the clues. But for me, the best moment comes at the end of Unbreakable. "They called me Mr. Glass!" Sadly, Shyamalan relied so heavily on twist endings that people stopped watching the movies for the movie and only for trying to guess the outcome.
I like the Glass twist about Dennis's father being in the train Mr. Glass derailed more.
This is a really good list I actually agree with front to back. Happy to see The Village in the upper half.
His character in Signs was also pretty important. He killed Mel Gibson’s wife, that’s why they bring their dog to a doctor and not the vet. He’s the vet or maybe it’s the other way around

Night is just a genius who doesn’t do in your face tropes but you need to watch them at least a few times.
I knew one filmgoer who saw The Village and got just the right wrong idea. Said she heard the exposition and figured the villagers were a modern, Amish-like society or extreme Luddites. So her revelation was "wait, they didn't all know?" :-P

i've heard there were obvious signs long before the ending. that people were wearing modern day clothes at some point. not obviously modern day but if you know clothing well enough you can tell.
I didn't think there was a twist in last airbender. Was too confused to tell

I didn't know about The Sixth Sense "twist" the 1st time I watched it, but then, after watching it over and over, I finally realized the "truth"
The twist in signs is not they are allergic to water!!! The twist is that miracles are real and God was giving them signs on how to survive

I've heard Night wanted to make it about devils and God but theater's don't like pushing the envelope on that subject so he made it sci-fi with aliens lol. Still a good movie.

Or also that the aliens are rather demonic and they become killed by Holy Water 😂
I personally like the happening twist. It is very underwhelming but it kind of makes sense and sets up a "villain" that you can't really defeat. Idk but I don't understand the bashing it usually gets

Facts!
The twist with Devil wasn't who was the Devil but that Tony was the one responsible for the main guy's family dying/the reason the Devil was there in the first place.
The Visit had these throwaway lines about the father being out of the picture because of a typical divorce. Also the grandparents never approved of him, though that's typical too. But I thought the twist would be that he had some arcane secret and they picked up on it. I may yet write that story. ;-)
The birthday party scene in Signs scared me half to death.
Signs twist was that there is something watching over them and there are no coincidences. Not the aliens weakness being water. 🤦🏾♂️

The Village was a masterpiece!!!
Fun Fact: M Night Shyalaman wrote the movie She’s All That🤯
when the plot twist for Signs was revealed I laughed so hysterically which is probably not the desired response.
Fun Fact: You know what number one is...
I thought Devil was pretty good. It's not talked about much
As I may have been the first to say, originality is the art of concealing your sources. The Lady in the Water critic character states a simple truth, though, when he says there's no true originality. Subdivide the dramatic situations any way you want, but any new story is going to echo an old story in some way. It kinda bothered me that that film vilifies someone for reminding us of this basic point.
I could watch Signs over and over again I love the humor woven into the scary it’s a combo I can’t resist
I LOVE Lady in the Water. Bryce Dallas Howard was brilliant in it. I loved the twist ending. I’ve seen it a bunch of times and the ending still gets me every time.

Same! I have always thought it had a bit of so many genres/angles: a little horror, a little fantasy, a modern day setting that is ultra relatable to many, and a hopeful message for our future. :)
M knight movie twist are genius
Glad to see the visit on this list it's super under rated I didn't see it coming at all.
I has to rewatch, The. Sixth Sense.I really didn’t guess the twist till it was revealed, which is unusual for me. I love when I get surprised like that. When I rewatched the movie, I saw that the Psychiatrist was clearly dead all along.. Amazing❣️❣️❣️
M Night Shamalayan makes more interesting horror movies than Stephen King does. I understand Shamalayan movies more than the stuff Stephen King writes in his books.
Devil is seriously underrated.

I’ve only seen like 3 of M.K.S.’s movies but I love all of them. The first one I saw was Sixth Sense (which is so goood and yes the twist is beyond amazing) and the other movies had really good twists. I think my second favorite one is Signs. It makes me cry sometimes but it is so good.
"The aliens are allergic to water." Tell me you missed the real plot twist without telling me you missed the real plot twist.

The "aliens" never had weapons or suits to protect them. We never saw a spaceship. That's because the aliens were actually demons. When the main character found his faith again, his house was blessed. The water became holy. The movie is lame if you think of it as an alien invasion movie.
The biggest M. Night Shyamalan twist is the 13-step earth bending form performed by seven earth benders to move a pebble.
Great video and I enjoyed it and have a blessed day
The Sixth Sense is way more famous, raising the bar for The Village, whose twist I found was more touching.
I liked Devil. The reveal always gets me. The Sixth Sense and Split will always be a favorites of mine.
When the Sixth Sense came out, I asked my buddy how it ended. He wouldn't tell me. Holy shit, I am glad he didn't. Best twist in the history of film.
