They connected the continuous songs in the live album, even the transitions sounding so good, these interconnections are even better, and I think that, not necessarily in the published songs, but all songs reutilize some lyrics like the guy below this comment said (tobster_spl), that's just common, but it's pretty cool to see how they evolve. i never heard the old version of Laplace's angel until I did, check it out if you havent and have a great day or night

I love the fact that Will Wood has explicitly confirmed that part of the reason there’s so much leitmotif and reference in that album is because he was rushed making it.

In Against the Kitchen Floor there's a moment after the first chorus that always reminds me of the beginning of I/Me/Myself with how it does the kinda doo-wop but with a small trumpet section instead Also, that Skeleton Appreciation Day / Chemical Overreaction bit is done really well when listening to the live versions off of The Real Will Wood, especially with how they transition into eachother

Btw Suburbia Overture has more motifs. The very start has the I/me/myself "do-wop ba do-wop ba". In the "Home is where the heart is you ain't homeless but you're heartless" part the cord progression is the same as in "memento mori" and "Well, better than the alternative...". Lastly, i remember something involving Marsha at the very start of Merybell, but i'm not sure. And "Suburbia" is mentioned in the unreleased song "I will never amount to anything".

Its also in the instrumental of Cotard's Solution, Dr.Sunshine is Dead(the "Till my fears come to fruition I’m not scared" lyric), and also the backing vocals during Red Moon. There's absolutey more than just that, but those are a few that I can remember off the top of my head without going through his entire discography lmao. Some fun facts from someone who has been tracking down and keeping a personal archive of a lot of Will's music. The main melody of "The Main Character" is in a lot of Will's live only songs/early versions of songs that were only on pateron! Also the "the future must know where you've been..." lyric and many other melodies and lyrics from self-ish are lifted from older songs that were released(as you might have suspected) under the william sunshine name. If I remember I might come update this comment to be better when its not 11:50.

I think the end of Cicada Days matches the beginning of Falling Up (And I think think Rumba of Death has a saxophone part that's the same as Laplace's Angel) sory leitmotifs are so cool

I think "Jimmy Mushroom's Last Drink" is also referenced in "Half-Decade Hangover" in these lines: Turns out anyone can eat out the trash Then wake up on the freeway mid-crash

This isn’t leitmotif-it’s just sampling and reusing parts of his older songs (which is still cool)

a leitmotif is a theme that carries onto other stuff, so the lyrics count

@@TraumatizedDumpster no, it’s not. leitmotif is a recurring melody or musical phrase that’s associated w/ a specific person, place, idea, etc (the person who made the video is using the term wrong)
