Chris, you and Thomas should collaborate and put together a book/video course that teaches Barry Harris material from square one! One of the frustrations I think exists is that Barry has so many concepts that it feels like we're often jumping around and being a little good at each one but not always spending enough time on any one thing. I think if there was a modern video/book course laid out in a less "jump here, then there" approach, something more step by step, then it would be easier to learn and teach Barry Harris material. Thanks for all you do Chris!!! 🙏😊🎸🎶

Anytime you want movement Within a set of changes this stuff is gold. Chris already has some beautiful examples on this channel. And by the way this scale of chords stuff is not just for guitar players and piano players. Horn players singers bassist and drummers can all get invaluable information from this. As well as I half note rules also this channel

Hey Chris, I just started a channel exploring Barry Harris concepts on a guitar tuned in Minor 3rds. I think tuning that way makes so many of the diminished scales of chords concepts easier for me to explore. I'd love to hear what you think!

9:55 I guess that Thomas, being an orchestral player, is used to being in the midst of players with their single-line instruments weaving in and out of each other with unison, pedal point and counter movements within and outside of the rules of counterpoint. Even solo classical guitar pieces emulate multiple players to my ears, often with three distinct lines moving independently. I have found some Barry Harris 6/dim chord movements edging into my own simple compositions. So far just in salsa and latino guitar, and a little jazz-soul. I would love to find ways to get some into my blues and funk styles. I'm grateful for the time you both give to show us all. It's way above my head but, as I said, bits are creeping into my own writing. I would love to hear examples of these teachings applied to : blues, funk, heavy metal, reggae, etc.

Barry Harris' Chromatic Scales work great for funk. It's pretty natural to employ them over dominant scales.
