GoPros have always been some of my favorite cameras because they're so fun and there's so much you can do with them. If you haven't seen my full review for the Hero 11, check it out here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gY6c2sGrh7DKhJs.html
I cracked open a Mountain Dew to watch that time lapse of the sun across the laundry room floor....X-treme!!

Thank you! It's always crazy to see what people do with action cameras out on the trails! Much more exciting than the laundry room 😁
How many puns can you put into one video? I think that's a record. lol. love it! I approve. I just sold my Gopro 8 and made the jump to the 11 today. Capturing lightning with hindsight, great idea! I've always had to delete tons of footage doing this. My Zoom H6 has this feature for audio capturing, (live performances etc), this is a great new feature for sure. Have you looked into Gopro Labs? This could be a great idea for another video for you. Video capturing by sensing motion, video capturing by sensing audio, custom file naming, starting video recording when a power source turns on (if you want to use your Gopro as a dashcam).. and more. Great Video Tom! Subbed, Liked.. and here's my comment. :)

I'm definitely biased towards products that lend themselves to easy wordplay 😁 Congrats on the new camera! I haven't heard of GoPro labs, I'll have to check it out!
Dude. Fan-freaking-tastic!!! I've had the GoPro Hero 10...and have NOT tried all these features yet! 🤦♀ I got it initially to record my cycling. I got a *FEW* clips...but I need to get going again! THANKS for making this video!!! It's so super FUN new things to try!!!

They're so much fun! Always been one of my favorite things about the GoPro.
Thanks for these details on the new/old time lapse modes! Really wanting to upgrade to the 11 (from 9) now... Ia free that the simplicity of the timel apse mode on GoPros is so compelling and invites creativity and exploration. P.S. love the GoPodium and metal music on the laundry room sun time lapse!

They're definitely an "upgrade-worthy" feature for me (time lapses are some of my most often used features).
Wow, such a great video and yet another proof that the content is king. The audio was great , and listening on my iPad and BT earphones, it sounded as good as ever. So, light painting next…

I'm consistently impressed with the new GoPros. If it weren't windy or I was a little closer, I could've probably gotten away with using the camera's audio. But hey, the Voice Memo app really comes in handy!

Since you used the GoPro 11 to record this video. What settings do you need to use for a studio or podcast environment? You had mentioned about the light quality in the GoPro 11 introduction video, what type of lighting is needed for the studio or podcast environment?
@tombuck
Жыл бұрын
Basically, the more lighting the better. Beyond that, it's really "season to taste". I like to set white balance manually, and keep the ISO as low as possible while being bright enough.
Hi - many thanks for this awesome video. I have a very strange problem with my GoPro 11. Whenever I take a photo night lapse, the exposure of the resulting photos is much (!) lower than what I set. For example, I set a shutter of 30s with an interval of 60s, but the resulting photos only have 1/3s exposure time. All other modes work fine, I can for example shoot a night photo (not timelapse) with 30s exposrue without problems. Can anyone else try this on their GoPro 11? I would like to know if it's a general bug or specific to my camera. Many thanks in advance!

It's not even a new phone! I have the 4 year old XR 😁
I have a brand new go pro 11, it worked fine in the beginning but for some reason, the video footage has this "stop/continue" thing, so it freezes for a 1/10 of a second and then continues, and this happens 2/3 times a second. its all brand new, the sd card is a 256 gb samsumg evo ( so not the best, but it should be good enough), do you have any idea?
@tombuck
Жыл бұрын
Ooh, that's frustrating. If you have another memory card it might be worth trying just to see if that's the issue. If not, then I would start by resetting the camera. And if that doesn't work, then I'd reach out to GoPro's support team.
Hey Tom I have a question. this might be a dumb question but i got to ask. why have things dedicated to taking time lapses when you can record something and speed it up or slow it down accordingly
@tombuck
Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question! For shorter time lapses, it doesn’t really matter. But for longer ones (several hours- even all night/day) it makes a huge difference. A single video file of that size probably wouldn’t fit on a single SD card and the camera’s battery would die or the camera itself would overheat long before the time lapse even started. Working with a file that huge would be really tough on the computer too. The dedicated modes save camera power and create a much more efficient file that’s easier to work with, while letting you record for a longer time 👍

@@tombuck very interesting thank you
Personally, I do like light trail painting. It's like when you take a picture at a very low exposure and shutter speed, You gonna draw the light trails and then giving it a feel of a neon surrounding an object or a subject. It looks like an art, But with a light trails all around. I would rather use a normal LED or a flashlight (or from my phone) if I want to do that. It's really fun thing to do, I'm gonna say. Especially I have my old Huawei P8 that it has this feature, But no video unfortunately, It's just in a photo mode.
@tombuck
Жыл бұрын
It's such a fun thing! Back in college in the early 2000's I submitted a light painting entry to be the cover of the school's yearly student publication and it was voted as the winner, but then I got disqualified because they didn't believe someone could actually make something like that and that I must've cheated 😁 It wasn't even a super incredible light painting, just some lights flowing around a statue on campus 🤷🏻♂️
@ItsRyukin
Жыл бұрын
@@tombuck Honestly, I really want to do that. But with my limited budget that I couldn't afford a GoPro or some professional cameras out there, Well. I have to use my old Huawei P8 to do that. (Because it has a feature that you can do a light trail drawing) And if I have enough budget to buy some cameras, I would buy a GoPro that it has this feature. (If I want to) Or maybe, Some professional cameras. (?)
#NotificationSquad!
Is it possible to replicate lightpainting video with DSLR?
@tombuck
11 ай бұрын
It's definitely more difficult. It can sometimes be possible with very extreme ND filters and slow shutter speeds (like ND-1000, or even multiple filters stacked on top of each other), or by taking individual photos and putting them together like a stop motion animation. I used to do this a lot back in college and it's really fun, but very difficult to make things smooth since you're basically recreating the effect multiple times. I kind of liked the rough and sketchy results though! Ultimately a GoPro is just the easiest way to do it that I've ever found.
I still hate GoPro...but great edit. oh and Audio is 60% of a video...LOL

I wish some of you reviewers would mention that a GoPro will not stream to KZread so they don't victimize anyone else. They haven't worked for 6 months and they will not stream.
