I was so mad that they let her die from the glass. They're the ones that set the glass to explode for no reason. It's foreseeable that a player would be hurt in such exploitation. If they're all about fairness and not influencing the outcome, then why wouldn't they fix a problem they created?

I never thought about the bridge explosion like that, but you're right it's very careless and could have killed all the remaining contestants, unfairly too! I do wish they had given her more of a back story before killing her off, she was super interesting but I guess she will forever remain a mystery now...

It's crazy because the BB video didn't have too many views until this past week it's shot up in the algorithm (TikTok has also shared it quite a bit) and suddenly I'm flooded with support from amazing comments and I couldn't be happier. So much more to come from me!

Even though the English Dub isn’t that great, I’ll say that Greg Chun did a really good job at voicing Gi-Hun. It’s not his fault that the Dub does throw the same impact like the original Korean dialogue does. He’s more of a video game and anime voice actor than a live-action voice over. Fun fact: Greg Chun is also the voice of Takayuki Yagami from Judgement.

I can understand the confusion with the cop's brother, but in my watch I was under the impression that the file he found revealed that his brother was actually a previous winner of the games. I also agree that the VIPs were annoying as hell but I did like that they were portrayed as rich asshole idiots.

I actually feel like every one of sang woos actions are justified except for not telling gi hun about the honeycomb game. What did gi hun want him to do in the glass game, the glassmaker was just wasting time that they didnt have they all would have died if it wasnt for sang woo pushing him off

Totally justified, like I say in the video most people would go into these games with the belief they will be morally strong but most likely crumble in the face of death

I personally think the VIPs work, if you view them under the lens of crazy man-children with more money than sense. Of course they're not going to react to things in realistic ways; they've seen it all before. To them, the games are just that: games. Why shouldn't they be talked about as such?

28:37 The scene with the two girls had me choked up way more than this one did.

I can explain the lights The explaination is: When its dark your eyes adjust to the darkness and lets you see somewhat, with the flashing lights nobody can see beacause the light levels changes too fast for you eyes to adjust. Makes it fair.

I don't necessarily agree with Sang-Woo's morally dark choices being justified but I still enjoyed the video regardless.

27:45 Its not really "cheating". The rule was to 'win' all the marbles from the other person. How the two win them is competely up to the pairs. The stealing from Ali would be more of a "rule break" than the lying to the old guy. Everything was allowed (except like killing the other one)

Love the content. This style of summarizing a show in around a hour is awesome

I am so glad that you shared your video and I can’t wait to explore the rest of your channel! Your style is a blend of Cynical Reviews and Schafferellis Productions, being able to break down a production (especially bring up points of morality) while incorporating logic and humor! I suggest that EVERYBODY watch the show with the original dub lol, but it’s nice to see somebody acknowledge Han Mi-neyo. I feel like she’s a very underrated character! Episode 7 is perhaps my favorite of the series, and while Gi-hun and Sang-woo were both right, Sang-woo had to push Player 013. He was indecisive and the clock was ticking down. Excellent video, my new friend. Can’t wait for the next one =]

It's funny you should mention both of those channels because I'm subbed to both of them but I've never considered myself to be inspired by their style, my biggest inspirations are YourMovieSucks, Ralphthemoviemaker and Red Letter Media. Re: Han Mi-nyeo, I feel she added a much needed comic relief without being unrealistically goofy...well apart from that bathroom scene where she was stalling the guard. I had so much more to say about the show but didn't want it to be a 4 hour lecture.

I was about to write a similar comment but I scrolled down and read this. I never watched those channels before, but I would say he recaps the show/movie really well (sort of like Man of Recaps) while injecting humor like Minute Movies.

My friend, thank you for these summaries. After watching a bit of this, I decided to watch the tv series in full and in Korean with subtitles. You summed it up well!

IMO the VIPs being stuck up and reiterating everything that happened was a good fit for the characters because of the fact they were so rich that they thought their reiteration of the events was superior to watching the original. but I do see your point at the same time

I think a fantastic song instead of “fly me to the moon” would be “what a wonderful world.” You get a better juxtaposition from that. Downside is, it’s also used in Madagascar so that might remind people of that.

Great, unique series. Loved it! I watched the dubbed version for literally about 5 minutes, and then re-started it in Korean and it was SO much better. As you say, the acting and emotion is SO much better. Some great acting and characters. Lee Jung-jae is a great actor, playing a hero character is relatively easy. Playing a pathetic loser, who is ultimately an ordinary boring guy who you sympathise with, is much harder. Loved Crazy Lady and her revenge!

What i like about VIPs is that they are supposed to be cringe worthy and shallow just like real snobs.

2 instances of music used right like Squid Game tried to is in the end of Stranger Things S3 E4 when Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again" plays while it shows the people, "We'll Meet Again" was used to calm soldiers and let them accept their death in WW1. The other being in Madagascar when Alex goes Feral and leaves to live on his own away from his friends, while Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." plays.

I'm considering it, I've certainly had a lot of requests but I would need to watch it again and decide if I'm passionate enough about the show.

12:40 I feel like it had less to do with what was happening to the contestants and more to do with the game master and to accentuate the sort of demented nature of the game with a nice, peaceful song (and maybe even to show that the game master loves the games)

i think the song was less meant to be ironic and rather it was meant to be relaxing to show the evil of the frontman as he sits back and relaxes to a song he likes as people die in front of him. this shows even more when he listens to the song to calm down after being shot by his brother.

I liked it when you did the mario voice lines

One of my earliest memories of video games and it's stuck with me

The whole part of his mom being dead reminded me of a sentence I heard once, "Some people are so poor, all they have in life is money'.. money aint worth shit if you have no one in your life.

I think battlefield 1s trailer got that contrast of sad and fighting with “what a wonderful world” the contrast of that fighting was just amazing

On your points about fairness and cheating- the director has said the entire show is commentary on capitalism pitting poor, desperate people against each other for the leisure of the rich, and how the “pull yourself up by the bootstraps, anyone can become a millionaire!” Philosophy is essentially a sugary lie. That’s why the organisers of the games don’t intervene when food is stolen, and even foster chaos and murder in the strobe scene; hanging the “cheaters” was entirely performative, the rich people and organisers purposefully tamper with the games for maximum entertainment value for the rich patrons. Very thorough, elaborate video!! Great work!! I thought it’d be the type of vid that has already amassed views in the mil, surprised to see it’s at 300k. Also loved the Mario sound effects gag in the Red Light Green Light segment

Interesting point about the song Fly Me To The Moon. I immediately thought of the opening of Wall Street, which felt perfect for the show, which was a critique of capitalism.

15:29 the show literally explains the answer to both those questions in the scenes. They’re blindfolded incase someone wakes up and they strip them because why wouldn’t they do a strip search? Especially for the returning players.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that discussed the idea that "We are all Sang Woo." I think this plot point really hooked me as a viewer
